Key Points - Game is practically done but in a state of waiting as Sega figures out which systems to develop for. It may be exclusive or potentially cross-platforms, depending on which is the most profitable option.

There's no guarantee that it will be released on the X360 even then Shenume II was on the Xbox due to poor sales.

Here's hoping it'll come over to the PS3 or Revolution. Honestly, I personally can't see Shenmue doing well on the X360 which is more known for fighters and shooters than RPGs - although you could consider Shenmue an Adventure Game (like Ninja Gaiden).

DISCUSS.

Sounds cool. I dont see shenmue selling more on revolution then it would for XBOX360 though. Id have to say PS3 is where they would find the most sales. I dont see why microsoft would pay for the exclusivity of the game if part 2 sales sucked.

The fact that they might port 1 and 2 as well is cool, since i have yet to play either(even though i picked up 2 for real cheap already)

Having the first two chapters would be sweet since we could build up Ryo from the very beginning and carry all the moves & stats over for every game.

I would be thrilled if they packaged all of the chapters into one and just called it Shenmue or something along the lines of Shenmue Complete. I'd be perfectly willing to start all over again. This is exciting news, for sure.
Damn maybe I should go play through Shenmue 2 now :p
Shenmue 2 is AWSOME if you can find the DC PAL version - with original Japanese voices and good subs. I watched my cousin play Shenmue II on the Xbox and ran screaming out the door when I heard the dubbing.

BTW, only Yu Suzuki could make the simple and almost mundane events of the final section of the game really enjoyable.

I also want to raise another kitty.

I hope that if it does come out on the xbox 360 they let you import your xbox shenmue 2 save. That would so freaking rock.

I can't wait. I don't plan on getting a 360 or Rev for a long time, but if Shenmue 3 comes to either one I'm going to have to pick one up.

I hope to God that this is true and that Shenmue III is indeed coming... Shenmue and Shenmue II are two of my all-time favorite games and I've been heavily anticipating the third and likely final installment in this wonderful series... I truly need to know how the story ends.

DEAR GOD,
fuckING THANK YOU LORD!

How about they give a big Shaq-Fu to all next generation consoles and make it only available on the Dreamcast!

About the same chances as me finding my favorite weapon in PSO:BB - but a man can still hope.

Sweet, there is hope for Shenmue to complete the story.

Hope that it's for Xbox360 or Revolution. However, the system it's on will not affect the sales of the game. Most people didn't buy Shenmue II because they hated the first one, and unfortunately, there were many who hated the first game.

What ever happened to that Shenmue Online game that was only going to be made for China? I've tried to look up info on it, but have found nothing. Did they scrap those plans a long while back? I remember seeing some screenshots of it, and it showed the final battle of the game. Looked cool.

Details about Shenmue Online's future can be found here.
I hope it comes on the Revolution because it has Wi-Fi.
Doesn't the PlayStation 3 have Wi-Fi as well (although I'm with you on wanting it to be released on the Revolution)?

Yeah I guess you're right. I guess it is because the PS3 will cost a lot more then the Revolution I bet and would fit well with Nintendo's fan base.

Its funny I own both games but I have never played them.
I've been meaning to but when the fate of Shenmue was uncerten I just kind of lost intrest in playing them. Guess now that Shenmue III has pretty much been announced I think I'll go play them now.

I have a feeling the game will either go Revolution Only or Multi-Console. I don't see it going PS3 or Xbox360 Only. Infact I would put my money on a multi-console release since thats the best way for them to make the most money.

Sega has mentioned that it was very disapointed on how their old franchies did on the PS2 and Xbox. And that Nintendo was more where that audence was. So who knows maybe games like Shenmue, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Shinobi, Jet Set Radio Future and Toe Jam and Earl would have done better had they been on the GameCube.

I wonder if it's Sega realizing that third party titles are first party titles; a game such as Starfox Adventures would be hovering in the $5 next to Bloodrayne if it was not a Nintendo title. For Sega, then, perhaps their games were no longer first party, and thus privvy to high publicity; furthermore, perhaps they were the victim of a way oversaturated third-party market.

Shenmue's a niche title anyway; I am a big fan of it, but recognize its limited appeal. I'm pleased that it's coming out at all.

I don't think Shenmue 3 will win over a lot of new gamers, but there are tons of Sega fans out there who've been clamoring for this title for a long, long time.

I'm very thankful Sega has chose to do this.

Sega has finally been able to turn a profit this last year, and this next year, I hope they start doing sequels to their established franchises.

They're doing a good so far, though, with the new Shining Force and Phantasy Star games. But we need another Nights game and a new Panzer Dragoon Saga.
