If you want a used or refurbished model, the best bets that I know of are sites like Woot! (Offshoot of Amazon), Cowboom (offshoot of Best Buy) or of course Amazon themselves.

Sorry I couldn't provide a direct link or deal but check those sites starting with Cowboom, as Woot gets in stuff periodically.

Thanks for the reply. I checked out Woot but I was somewhat too late and I missed out. 

Oh well, maybe BF/CM won't let me down this year.

I wouldn't hesitate too long, since I believe it has been marked as End-Of-Life with the release of the Nexus 9.  Go to http://www.google.com/nexus/ and you won't see a listing for the Nexus 7 there, just the 5, 6, 9 and Player.
