Yeah, I was gonna post but I figured nobody would care. I use TSN to check out all the signings. ( http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature.asp?fid=10407 )

And I'm praying my Devils will keep Niedermayer....rumored he was going to Philly but they got Hatcher so that's unlikely now.
I know the leafs are AT LEAST in the running to get him. I'll be very disappointed if they don't sign at least 1 premier player, but Niedermayer is the one I want the most.

Nice to see the Pens got hold of Gonchar. They're supposed to be pretty aggressive this year, so I'd expect at least 3 more big names to end up with them.

Kovalev is just about a done deal too; I'd be surprised if he doesn't sign within the next few days....

NEVERMIND: AGH!!! Damnit!! Why sign with freaking Montreal??

They need a veteran goalie, but I hope they don't sign Mike Dunham... that guy sucks compared to what's left out there. Osgood would be decent. They'd better not sign Ed Belfour either, too old.

Ron Francis would make a good 4th line center; I don't expect there to be too many takers, so I expect him to come here for if nothing else, to be used in a leadership role.

I can't wait for the season to start up!

You guys should read this editorial from the Buffalo News.

I don't understand how some of these teams are paying these salaries under the new CBA. If you look at some of the salaries cited, I wonder what some of these GMs and owners are thinking. Granted some of the teams with lower payrolls (Columbus, Chicago) are better able or even have to spend more under the new system. Maybe, I just have sour grapes because the Sabres haven't done anything yet.

Kovalev already signed.......

...with Montreal

Modano should sign his five-year extension to stay in Dallas.

I gotta say, I've never been a huge hockey fan. I usually pick it up in the post season, but with the new rule changes, it seems it will be much more exciting. I think I'll have to watch a few more games this season.
Reportedly San Jose Sharks have signed Paul Kariya. Heard it was on ESPN News and I just heard it on Rogers Sportnet.
son of a bitch...

Ladies and Gents, Modano REJECTED Dallas's offer. He's still out there.

Also, Dandenault signed with the Habs. Not a bad pickup at all.

Forsberg is still out there too, but he supposedly wants to play with Nasland who just re-upped his deal in Vancouver.
My precious Red Wings are going to get owned this season.
Yzerman is back thank God! All Detroit has lost is Hatcher, who didn't play last year; Whitney, who was a huge disappointment in Detroit; and McCarty , true his best days are behind him, but it still sucks that Detroit couldn't keep him. Oh and Hasek & Cujo, but those two were the biggest waste of 16 million dollars ever, and both are well past their prime.

Detroit will probably find a way to win the division. :whistle2:k Maybe Mike Modano could come home... not sure exactly how fucked the Wings pay roll is at this point with all the releases.

Sour grapes.

Like the Sabres ever do anything. Never will with Darcy around.

Oh, maybe we can get another big name like Delmore.

Miroslav Satan just signed with the Islanders....

How fitting it would have been for him to sign with the Devils, but it was not meant to be lol.

McCarty has said that he'd like to come back eventually, so you never know. Maybe his playing days in Detroit aren't over after all. :)

That said, I think we're still in great shape. Yzerman is back, we have yet to lose Datsyuk or Zetterberg, and the Wings definitely have depth. Look at what our third and fourth lines have been in the past few years, with players that would have been stars on other teams. Look at the amazing scouting the Wings have had for the past decade or so.

The Wings aren't going to be "owned" this year. Considering how many drastic changes have gone on in the league so far - and, more importantly, how many have yet to happen - I'm not sure if you could make a case for any one team to perform well or to fail miserably in the upcoming season.

I'm a Sharks fan and I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. He's kinda past his prime IMO. Seems like the Sharks are snatching all the half-Japanese NHL'ers (Paul Kariya, Devin Setoguchi). Interesting...

BTW... there's Canadian CAGs??? I thought the deals were different up there

Parents live in Vancouver.

Anyways, my friend figured they would put Kariya on a line with Marleau and Sturm. Seems like a good set up man for those two, and he's still young enough that he can do some damage. Hopefully they aren't signing him to some 5 year deal, but three year deal, I can live with that...

I believe I'm the only "native" Canadian CAG here.

Blackhawks are after the Bulin wall now. I guess that makes Thibault trade bait?

The penguins signing gonchar was a waste of money...just a tad over 5million a season for an offensive minded defensemen....come on, modona and probably forseberg will get less then that a season, and would be better pickups

That would have been cool.

Dammit, Flyers just signed Peter Forsberg.
That would have been cool.

Press Release

I'm not that worried about Detroit. All they need to do is resign Datsyuk and Zetterberg, add a winger (Palffy), a dman (Marchment, McGillis), and sign Osgood or hand the team to Manny and bring up MacDonald. Besides, it's an Olympic year, so that means that Detroit is going to win it all.

Now the Flyers are over the cap. Nice one Clarke. Looks like JR is heading to LA really cheap.

Why do the Islanders get all our good players?

Without cheating... can anyone name a player on the Sabres?

Chris Drury.
Why do the Islanders get all our good players?

Martin Biron, Mikka Noronen, Ryan Miller, Maxim Afinigenov, and Dmitri Kalinin (sp?) are the first ones who come to mind.
You play hockey video games then. :p
Lol....that and I am obsessed with hockey and I watch as many games as I can with Center Ice...don't the Sabres have Jillson too? I've always liked him.

Niedermayer has it narrowed down to NJ, Anaheim, and San Jose. I've got a bad feeling he's headed to the Ducks to play with his brother...
But can the Ducks afford him? I think he's staying with the Devils.
I hope....supposedly, all three of those teams made offers in excess of $6.5 million a season.

It would have been weird if Modano ended up a Bruin. To me, Modano is the face of the Stars like Yzerman is with the Wings.
I hope....supposedly, all three of those teams made offers in excess of $6.5 million a season.
All three teams can afford to sign him. It just depends on whether he decides to sign where he's comfortable (New Jersey), to sign with his brother (Anaheim), or where he has the best chance at a Cup (San Jose). Here's hoping that he goes with the Sharks...

Rumor has it that the Bruins are about to sign Alexei Zhamnov. The Bruins gameplan after the recent signings is a 2nd line center, after missing out on Modano and Forsberg, and a defenseman or two. They still realistically have about 10 million to spend, not including Zhamnov's expected 4 mil per year. That leaves another 6.

goddamn it

I hate the Flyers with all my heart. Stupid fuckers sign the entire UFA pool and the Leafs haven't picked up one player.
