NHL2k8, NHL 08' (PS3, x360, PS2) $9.99 at Microcenter (instore)

Placed an online order for in store pick up of NHL 08. I don't have my hopes up too high that I'll get it. Thanks, OP for posting this deal. I've been on the hunt for a decent deal on this game for a LONG time.

Save up for NHL 09, it's going to be absolutely amazing. This isn't going to be just a roster update.
 
I totally agree 09 is going to be great, but I can't justify spending $60 instead of $11 when I haven't even played 08 to make sure I like it. I guess I'm looking at 08 as a demo for 09. I'll have to admit the entire mmo part of nhl 09 sounds enticing. I would love to fill the role of a person on the team that is a defensive specialist.

But you can justify spending an extra 10 on an 08 game (as a demo), just to see if you like the series, then picking up 09 :lol:

Fair point, but I'm hoping by the time I tire of 08, the 09 version might be available on ebay, CL, or in stores for cheaper than $60.
 
08 is a great game. Very enjoyable. If you have a ps3, there is 09 demo out. I have 08 on the 360, and for some reason I like 08 a little better after the first try of the 09 demo, but I'm going to try it again later. The skating just feels a little different in 09. Hopefully it was just in the demo, and tightened for the full release.

NHL 08 just dropped to $30 two weeks ago, three weeks before NHL 09 comes out. It is still selling for $27 shipped on Amazon.

Not to mention that NHL 09 is going to be leaps and bounds better - NHL games aren't like Madden, they don't drop in price sharply at all - even compared to non-sports games.

Also, they're cutting the NHL 08 online play soon.

I see your point, but the whole purpose of this thread is that the game is on sale for $9.99.
 
when they cut online play, does that mean just the lobby or the abiity to create a session and play with friends?

Picked up my copy today, I also needed some thermal paste, the guy couldn't find the 3.5 gram tube of Artic Silver so I got the 12 gram for the 3.5 gram price ($9.99). My e7200 will appreciate it. Two great deals in one trip.

I have never heard of EA cutting online play for an older release. Of course I haven't played an online sports game since the 2k football games. I searched google and couldn't find any dates. I'm curious can anybody confirm this?
