Hadn't been there in a LONG time. Went in and looked around about 20 minutes and I didn't see much. Then I looked behind some SNES catridges and found Breath of Fire for the SNES. I already had BoF 2 and had been looking for the first one for awhile now. It wasn't stickered but the lady let me have it for $10 8)

Nah, sorry to mislead. It was suprising to me because I had been looking for this locally (I try to get most old cart based games at the flea market and pawn shops here) for a while now and the fact I happened upon it by chance got me all...uh....giddy.
Well then I guess you got a good deal, but too much of a climax for one game
Ok, my Peter Griffin moment for the day..

"You said climax! Hehehehehehe"

Nice find.

I try to find SNES and Genesis games locally as well. I can name a few that I could have gotten easily on eBay months before I found them cheaper in the wild.

Try finding SoM and FFIII for SNES at $3 a pop and then get back to me on pawn shops... too bad they started using Ebay...

Thats cool
I've fond that pawn shops are one of the best places to find Cheap videogame stuff. They don't seem to know what games should be going for. Hell I got a Xbox for $70 at a pawn shop.

I have never seen SoM or FFIII at this particular shop. I own both already (2 copies of FFIII) and never look for it much. Every SNES game they have is between $10 and $15 from what I could see. Usually its fairly common stuff but every once in awhile there is something good. Next major RPG I will be looking for there is probably Secret of Evermore. I have the majority of the major Japanese RPG's released in the US for the SNES already.

The pawn shops I've checked around me seem to price their games using gamestop.com or ebgames.com. One of them told me they price their's $2 below whatever gamestop has as the price of the game. I knew something had be be up at one when all of their Xbox and PS2 games were around $10-20 but the one copy of Rez was priced at $35. I was like, man these guys know game prices!

Very smart on their part, but that means no real deals for me.

I agree with that, but mines seem to think video games are gold, so they are way overpriced, I think they had a used NHL 2003 for like $20 just a few days ago

I miss the good ole days when Pawn Shops were actually a good place to go for a good deal. Now, with ebay and internet pretty much standard where ever one goes, Pawn shops are adjusting there prices accordingly. In fact, I see better prices at Waldo-World, Hastings, EBGames, Gamestop, etc...

For example, it has been a while since I was there, but I remember seeing a used PacMan vs for $20 (was this not $5 at Circuit City?). I wanted to get Zone of Enders, but alas it was too much for a beat up used copy even for me.

The PS2, Xbox and Gamecube games are all overpriced at my pawn shop (ALL are $20 and up unless they were released below that like VF4: Evo or ESPN NFL 2K5). Plus (and this is the part that sucks) they put a security sticker on the disc (a small one right around the hole). That is a HUGE turn off because it kills the value if I want to trade them someplace other than that shop. SOMETIMES I'll put up with it for PS1 games that are hard to find like Persona 2. I got that for $20 complete with the security stickers but that was still too good a deal to pass up. No way in hell I'll do that for newer systems though. I can find newer stuff cheaper than most of their used stuff just by coming here.

I'm going to get that one soon as well. I'll probably wind up getting it at Game Crazy for $13.49 (it's $14.99 without the MVP card), if I don't find it cheaper somewhere else. Well, I did find it for $12 at CD/Game Exchange, but it wasn't in the best condition.
