NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams

Wow, it does look gorgeous. The colors and style are legitimately fantastic.

Looks like it's going to be quite a stimulating visual experience, at the very least!

Better than Cube graphics, dallow asked: hmm, based on those screenshots alone, the Cube could probably handle that. Is that a probelm, though? I can't gauge the tone of your post there (if you're innocently asking or if you're knocking it because the Cube could handle it). The bottom line to me is that the game looks great; it'll be a Wii game, not a Cube game, so whether the Cube could handle it means little.

I actually have a Wii and don't own any games (other than Wii Sports, of course). And I will get this game on day one without hesitation!

Innocently asking.
I'd rather they make full use of the Wii hardware though.
So far, I'm still unconvinced that the Wii has better graphics potential than the GC.
Well, I do believe that, but have yet to see it really.
That kinda bothers me. If they can do more, why haven't they?

Either way, the game looks fun, and I hope it plays better than the Saturn original.

This answers my question of whether this was a port of that game I never played or if it was going to be an original title adding on to that game I never played. Either way it looks fantastic, I hope it's wicked fun.

Absolutely fantastic game. However, this looks just like the Saturn original... not that that's a bad thing, really, but they ought to do alot to improve it.

NiGHTS was one of the first really good 3D games I played. You really need to play it to appreciate the graphics.

I definitely rank it up there with Jet Grind Radio and Rez, as some of the best original and beautiful games I've ever played.

Go pick up a Saturn and try to find this game. It's well worth it.

This is a Wii game, right? Not a VC Saturn game?
What the fuck is this? Flying purple things that can control fish? It looks like Rez, but with twice the LCD.
LSD? ;)

Ya, they claim the wii is superior to the original xbox, but I'm still waiting on A game to come along and prove that to me. So far, none of the Wii's game look 1/2 as good as Halo 2 or any other xbox games. No, I didn't think Zelda had amazing graphics either, but it was a fun game.

Actually, I think it's a new game.
I thought it was an updated port at first though.

They really need to improve the graphics.
The fish look better than the actual player model.
I'll agree with that. She's got 5 fingers at least.

ughh looks awful. I never played the original NiGHTS and don't even know anything about the series so I don't got that emotional attachment thing like some of you lol.

Ya graphics look bad too...after playing 360 even on my crappy SDTV it's 100000 times better. (That flying purple thing almost looks like N64 lol)

You people scare me.

Graphics aren't everything, why is it that nobody has mentioned that this is a fucking amazing game?
I have to say that GC games look a lot better. Or is my mind just playing tricks on me?
I have a feeling they just stole the character model from the original game and just pasted it in a new game. :D

That game is still both beautiful and brilliant.

Wow too bad the Wii can't look like this...is this the 360/PS3 version or what??

Wow goofball, I don't ever remember saying it was a bad game.
You haven't even played it yet, so we don't know how well it holds up to the Saturn version. (i know you loved it, but i didn't care much for the saturn version years ago)
not a cut and paste. You're being facetious, right ?
 Yes, I am. Just that relative to the rest of the images (environment and whatnot), the character looks so flat and bland.
You people scare me.

Because we haven't played it yet...

We can only go by what we see and those graphics look like GC graphics. I was hoping for at least Super Mario Galaxy quality graphics... well, at least they've got time to fix that.

Hopefully though, it'll be a fun game. And by that, I mean the gameplay stay intact and Sega doesn't decide to add in Shadow NiGHTS with dual action pistols and 'extra badditute'.

so the graphics aren't that bad.

that's really not a big deal when you consider that Sega will probably crap all over this game as well.

then the sequel-- NiGHTS: Into GUNZ!!! *cue cheesy heavy metal*
Definately agree that it looks like a Dreamcast game at this point, but there is plenty of time for improvement.
My guess is that it was a Dreamcast game at one point. Its not like Sega knows what its doing or something.

As someone who still plays a good number of GCN & N64 games I can safely say a good number of you either:

a) Haven't played either system in quite a while, and can't draw a comparison worth shit.

b) Are mentally handicapped.

I'm willing to give you guys the benefit of the doubt and go with choice a.

The dreamcast was a fair bit more powerful than the N64. Hell, it was at least as powerful as the PS2. Look at the character models for Soul Calibur.

Those shots look ok, not great. A lot of that is the resolution, jaggies abound. Without seeing things in motion, its really hard to tell.

All I'm saying is why doesn't anayone mention that the original Saturn version was fucking spectacular.

1. I was talking about the original game that this is a sequel to.

2. We can go by the previous game. Although I suppose I agree with you all when you mention how shitty sega has been doing recently. *sigh*

Honestly, am I the ONLY person who loved the original game? That's pretty pathetic.

That was a four-fold advantage over the then most popular PlayStation and a two-fold advantage over the then most powerful N64.

Then the PS2 and GCN came out. PS2 used DVD media, was 128 bit as well, and was... well... Playstation. I think we all know how that went down.

No one is commenting on this game for anything other than the graphics at the moment.
Which is all you can do with screenshots of a sequel to a Saturn game that is xx years old that very few of us have actually played (i did).

We were all talking about the GC Wii screenshots so why the hell would you be talking about the Saturn version all of a sudden?:whistle2:? It seemed like you were talking about the new one, hence what I said.

And yes, you're obviously the ONLY person who loved the original version because none of us were excited to hear about the sequel we've been waiting over a decade.

Bits and media have nothing to do with the graphical prowess of a console. The original xbox was techinically 32-bit, and it didn't do so bad did it? (Main processor was 32-bit, the graphics chip was 128-bit. I also believe that the gekko in the GC was 32-bit as well) I'm just sayin'

The Dreamcast coulda been a contenda, I tell ya! If only Sega hadn't screwed the pooch with it.

Because nobody has played this game on the Wii yet?

And chances are, Sega will fuck this up badly.

I saw you mention why no one thought the Saturn version was amazing... it was ok, but if you're building this up to be some sort of awesome successor to that, I have a feeling you will be VERY let down when this game comes out.

I already predict 5's and 6's across the board. Sega doesn't do anything right.

That's like saying "Sonic 2 is sooooooo awesome, Sonic 360 has to be good! Right? Right?!?"

Suddenly I'm doubting the quality of the original NiGHTS.
No idea who "VanillaGorilla" is, but the original NiGHTS is a work of art. Great music, gameplay, story, art everything about that game was good.

Best game on the saturn hands down

And sonic on the wii and ds haven't been too bad so this still has some hope

The graphics are pretty ugly, but my concern is how well the game plays... Hopefully, they'll use as few Wii-specific controls as possible so that it doesn't feel like Nights: Gimmick-fest 2001.
