I desperately need a new pair of shoes for the gym/running. I am currently using '82 SE AF1's roll: I know) and frankly, they have seen better days.

While I have no input on deals, mine cost like $100 a while back, but I must say you are making a good choice in Shox. They are by far the best shoes I have used for running.

shox are pretty good, i have been using adidas superstar for running for the past 8 years or so, they are made for basketball.

I'm a marathon runner, and I can safely say stay away from Nike. The heel of their shoes form a deep pocket that will eventually hurt your ankles and shins through extensive use. I would suggest to go with Asics, New Balance, Saucony or Brooks. Much better all around shoes that use either a gel or air-weave system. Much more reliable and healthier for your legs.
