Nine more for the XBOX collection

CheepGamez

CAGiversary!
All the local Gamestop stores are down to their last few titles for the original XBOX so I made one more attempt to fill some of the holes in my collection. I seriously doubt that there is very much more in my local area at least that I would want so this is probably my very last purchase for the original XBOX.

I picked up

AeonFlux
American Chopper 2
Breeders Cup
Dark Angel
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
Stolen
Strike Force Bowling
Sudeki
Tony Hawk's Underground 2

We're down to the dregs, I know. There were other games there that I could have gotten but these were the last ones that I didn't have that came in the original box with cover art and manual. I try not to buy games without the cover art and manual because they can be hard to get later without buying a complete copy of the game. The boxes I'm less picky on because I can buy a bunch of 99 cent sports titles to get original boxes if I need them. With the buy 1 get 2 free sale and my 10% card discount I paid $17 and change and that also included my state sales tax.

Nice. At least you're not like Fire_Thief and paying $5-$7 dollars for these, then justifying your purchase by calling them "rare" or "underrated".

I've actually got a story. When Circuit City was closing and having their clearance "sales", my brother and I took a trip to the nearest one. I was feeling a little generous, as I had just been paid, so I told him he could pick out a game for his Xbox (the only console he had at the time). He goes to the game section, and comes back with Aeon Flux. Dead set on getting it, too. $15 fucking dollars. He played it once. Argh.

I didn't buy him another game for six months, when I got him Mass Effect for our new 360. He learned to chose his games well after that.

Nice finds, I used the same sale to get Jade Empire in original case, GS cased XIII, and an absolutely complete Advent Rising with 2 months of Xbox live still intact. All for $6, which I don't think is too bad at all.

I didn't get anything from the Circuit City liquidation. The prices really sucked and so did the selection. For the 10-20% off Circuit City was offering it wasn't worth it. That's like the weekly sale price at Best Buy or Target, not a liquidation price for a company that has to vacate the premises at the end of the month.

Do the expired two month trial cards still work? I used to collect XBox games.. I've literally got like 40 two month trial cards.

Nope. I tried the one that came with some crappy sports game, and it didn't work. Bought the game specifically for that card, too.

I found 6 more at another GS today. It's still hard to find the really good games complete but I have most of the good games for this system already anyway. This trip netted

Bicycle Casino
Scrapland
Advent Rising
Malice
Big Mutha Truckers 2
American Chopper (the first one this time)

Less than $11 for these. I'm going to have to range farther out to find more at this point, I think.

Can you still connect to Live with a first generation XBOX? I thought I read somewhere a while back the the old XBOX would eventually be cut off from live once the 360 was out. If first generation systems can't connect I wouldn't think the old cards issued back then would still work, either.

Good choices of games. You were lucky to find those for good prices.

Actually, I've heard that people have emailed/phoned Microsoft and they got those codes to work for them and I think more than a few used them on the 360 to boot.

Of course, you can only use them on the 360 anymore anyway, since MS stopped XBL support for original Xbox games.

Went on a little road trip yesterday and found 3 more

Shrek 2/Shark Tale two game pack
Robotz
Ed, Edd, and Eddy

Was like $14.43 for all three (or is it four?). The Shrek 2/Shark Tale combo was $13.49 with Edge which is why it was so much.
