"Nintencats" Confirmed by Developer!!

Okay, doesn't seem to work as well as dogs would as dogs are more reliable on their owner for entertainment, food, and such. I guess Nintengerbil is next.
nintencats doesn't haven't the same ring to it.

I mean you're elminating the "do" out of nintendo.
Nyantendo would work

Well Im realy not fond of cats neither...but I'd buy a copy of "Nintencats" to not feed it, bathe it, play with it, etc lol

But that might be interesting to go to someone with a Nintendog and have a dog/cat play together....or fight.

It could be interesting--but as long as they dont start with dogs, then do kittens and then start doing other animals. By a 3rd time, it would good pretty annoying.

lol what about a Nintenfarm? Kinda Harvest Moon-esque, but more focused on the animals rather then crops.

I can see this being another hit... prob 1/3 of the people picking up nintendogs were girls, and 2/3 will probably be girls buying nintecats. Nintendo is smart to do this... since all i've seen are nintencats being requested on almost every single nintendogs topic or fourm.

I like cats more than dogs, but it seems like nintencats would be restricted in comparison to nintendogs. Although, the idea of letting the cats play with the dogs makes the product much more viable.

Well, I had suggested the name of Kittendo several weeks ago--glad somebody else thought of it too--a lot better than Nintencat! I also agree with an earlier poster that the focus on Kittens would create a MUCH more active and dynamic game than with adult cats. Kittens are very active, and can indeed be taught to do things.

My guess though is that the next one will actually be a true sequel to Nintendogs featuring both dogs (new breeds) *and* cats. Since there is less distinction between breeds of cats as there are with dogs (beyond appearance), and since they already have the dynamics of dogs worked out....I really think Nintendo will add new dogs and not just cats.

Working titles: "Nintendogs + Cats" or "nintendo Cats and Dogs"

Just my thoughts

If nintencats came out then I'd love nintendo forever. I'm a cat person and having a virtual cat that I didn't have to feed would be awsome.

My daughter would love a cat version...she even knows all the different breeds!

I just hope it would have the creepy hairless cats!

Mr. Bigglesworth does not appreciate your use of the word "creepy".
All cats suck. Dogs are better.
Siamese. They think they're dogs.

Where is NintenSeaman?!

I want Seaman!!!
Seaman is good!!!
Everyone loves Seaman!!!

Screw dogs and cats! I want Seaman!!!!!
Eew, cats. I'm allergic. I'll get boogies all over my screen.
well if a Seaman comes out he will get buggers all over your screen to..

God I love that game...

was there ever a way to beat it though?

I mean did he sprout legs and just get up and leave one day or anything?

*SEAMAN SPOILER ALERT*

I may be one of the only people I know who raised his Seaman to adulthood - and YES, that's exactly what happens. He transforms into the strange frogman hybrid and releases himself from his cage. He then bids you a somewhat heartfelt farewell as he rattles off all the things he's learned about you - basically profiling your personality. This part, if you've been honest with your pet seaman, can be a little spooky and hits pretty close to the mark (at least mine did). He then turns and hops into the jungle bidding your farewell, but with the note that you can come back to the jungle anytime and talk to him, and that he is indeed your friend regardless of his disposition. I felt like such a nerd talking relentlessly to my control pad for a few weeks. Heh.

Would there be any way to put Seaman, or a Seaman-type game on the DS? Wouldn't there not be enough space on the DS's small cartridge for all of the speech required to make such a game work?

As someone pointed out, it wasn't confirmed at all. All the producer said was it was something they were kicking around and they did some intial work while they were deciding between a dog or cat version. Its the VF4 on Dreamcast rumors all over again.

That being said, kittens are great.

Nintendogs is a great concept because puppies are great, but dogs are as useless as an asshole on your elbow. Kittens are the ideal pet for these type of games because you only need to spend minor amounts of time with them and they'll take care of themselves. I'd hate to miss work because I was too busy making sure my cat doesn't crap on the floor or bark at the neighbor.

I agree, except that you got it bass aackwards. I'd buy Nintencats in a heartbeat (of course, I also bought Nintendogs - but that's because I thought it would be interesting to have some virtual dogs since I'll never get the real things!). All REAL dogs ever do is crap on my lawn :D.

But, seriously, it seems like with the success of Nintendogs, Nintencats is a no-brainer money-maker...

Cats are way better. No dependency, not as naggy, etc. They can amuse themselves, take care of themselves, and clean themselves (to a point).

A Kitten version would be interesting (maybe...stuff like the Sims gets on my nerves quickly).

Still, the interview confirms nothing, only that they worked on cats and that it is possible to have a cat game later.
Cats can't be trained, a cat training game would be stupid.
cats can be trained, except itll be more difficult, and its not like ur actually training the dogs in nintendogs anyways. u just make them do whatever the hell options are given to u. i personally dont like this whole thing, but what about nintenzoo, nintenfarm, nintendoe (OHHHHHH, i got skills), nintendeer, nintendragon, nintenbaby! imagine raising a baby on ur ds. hopefully it wouldnt be real time ;)

I think it would be a good idea for Nintendo to make a cat version - it will sell. Then, instead of making a version for every animal, maybe they make a "Nintenpets" or something that has several different types of animals in it. THAT would probably be a big seller as well if they can manage to do a bunch of different animals as well as they did the dogs. Of course it would be more difficult to model different types on animals in one game, but they've got the engine and basic gameplay already done, and I'm sure the extra effort would be worth it (money wise). In any case, this is Nintendo, so we all KNOW that if Nintedogs does even half as well as we think, there WILL be sequels. Isn't there already a "holiday" version confirmed? If nothing else, there will be additional dog versions coming :D.
like wario/waluigi
people adjusted. get over it G
Wario - W is an upside down M.

Waluigi - an inverted L looks like the Katakana character "wa"

That at least is semi methodical, Nintencats is not. I like cats as pets, much prefer them over dogs, but cats aren't exactly fun. With the exception of one of my two cats which I've taught rudimentary tricks, cats don't put up with human's shit, i.e. tricks, jumping around and playing at your will, etc.

I'm beginning to think that this thread should be in the VS. forum. Who knew that dogs vs. cats was such a hot button issue?
