Nintendo DS sold out everywhere.......
The tallahassee Bestbuy had around 40 around 1:30 P.M. Game wise, not too many left. I used my 5 dollar coupon and got Mario DS for 24.99. I'm really not sure if I should open it now or not. I don't know if I should check ebay for the selling price. Lastly, the PSP complicates things for me. Don't know which will be better...
Nabbed mine from Tennessee Wal Mart at midnight last night. Two others were there as well.

Sorry! Hah:p

Sold out almost everywhere in my area all the eb's, walmarts, etc; there were some at one of the targets. I got pissed at gamerush... I preordered 2 and the shaqfuing a-holes sold them before I got there... then they tried to make some "well you preordered 2 weeks ago so you shipment should be in after a couple more weeks" all while I could hear them wispering "shit, we sold all the ds's and this dude preordered them... shit"

Try calling K-Marts and TRU. I'd just get my money back and not give them business anymore. Sorry guy, that really sucks.

I was talking to an EB manager and he said the that nintendo has promised EB at least 9,000 systems a week and says they have warehouses full of them for the holidays. I don't think it's going to be scarce like the ps2

I pre-ordered from EB and picked up my DS this afternoon. I went by the BB that I mentioned in my Fri night post and they had a table full of DS's. Remeber I was told that they had "900". The number sounds crazy b/ they had plenty. They also had starter kits, cases and screen protectors ($10). It was really crowded so I did not buy the screen protectors and I will wait to open my DS until I get the protectors. Oh, yeah I also bought the warranty from EB for $15 since this is new hardware and there may be bugs.
i shaq-fuing hate the prime demo... dont form your opinion on that... mario 64 DS however.... sheer brilliance
Why do you hate the prime demo? I actually like it, though it took playing it a couple times to get down the control scheme... but as soon as that clicks, it's really rather fun.

it was my understanding, though I havent gone into a blockbuster personally, that they are selling it, or at least some are, and that they broke the street date. Something about rental places working with different laws or something.

You know there is a 1-Year from Nintendo right?

Actually I thought Nintnedo's warranty was like 90 days. Regrdless since it was only $15 I bought it.

I will return the warranty tomorrow and buy a game or get credit. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

I seriously don't understand why everyone wants one at launch.. its no big deal.. Mario DS.. whooptedoo.. I'm waiting for Animal Crossing and Viewtiful Joe DS..

Ah, backwards compatibility.. that's why, I bet.
I can't tell if you serious or if you are joking. I do actually like the fact the I can play GBA games on it. There's also 3 launch games that I want.
I'm serious. Why does everyone want the DS? I just figured it was a new system and you guys could play GBA games on it, so yay or something.

Anyways, stopped by my Target on the way home.. they were stocked to the teeth.. at least 15 Mario DS's, at least 20 Urbz DS's, at least 30 of Madden 05 and Spider-Man 2 DS's, and at least 45 systems.

That would be the Target in Murfreesboro, TN.

It really seems like nintendo is creating artificial demand for the product by releasing a low supply initially and then another shipment comes in right in time for black friday.

I really don't give a damn about the system. Don't want to be screwed by ds sp

I got one from BB. I had to wait in like for 50 minutes, they were sold out by the time I left the store...I wanted to get an extra, but they wouldn't let me. Went to Target, they sold out within 10 minutes of the store opening. CC sold out before I got there, only a few minutes after opening. FYE was sold out. Sams Club didn't have any, and there's no local Walmart/Kmart. Glad I got one :D

I don't understand why it's selling out everywhere except here. There were literally five rows of systems in the case and it looked like around 5 had been sold. There's no shortage of supply around me.

It's an added bonus for me because I didn't have an SP. Backwards compatibility is always a plus in my book. I was looking forward to 3 launch titles, so it was worth it for me.

Good call. I may end up getting one sometime soon. I have a GBA, but no SP. I'm not too big on GBA games, so I'm not sure. I'll definately get FF: Dawn of Souls on GBA when it comes out, though!

Right now I have one GBA game, lol. Dawn of Souls is on my list. The DS is backlit so GBA games do look better on it. It's worthy of a purchase.

Did anybody get Feel the Magic?? How is it??
I bought Spiderman 2 and think it is pretty good for a portable game but I need more!!

I just tried out my copy of feel the magic. It's pretty cool so far. Blowing out candles by blowing on the touch screen is just wierd. Might feel like an idiot playing this game in public..LOL

If you have to ask, you'll never know why. :)

GI said it best: "Trying to explain what makes the DS so fun is like trying to explain how playing with legos are fun."

-not a direct qoute BTW.

I was convinced I wouldn't be able to get one today, since I was spending the weekend with my gf.. fortunately we went shopping with her mom for a birthday present for her, ended up at a white trash shopko in watertown, WI at around 6:00.. They only had 3 systems left, and Mario 64 was $40, so I got the system but im waiting to get Mario 64 and Feel the Magic. The screen is great for GBA and I love the touch screen.

The packers squeezing out that win just was the top off of a great day..

Feel the Magic is just a game that's about 30 or so mini-games. It definintly makes good use of the stylus/touch screen and the built in microphone. To me, it's worthy of a purchase but maybe not-so to others.

I think feel the magic looks really interesting.. but quirky. As in one of those quirky games that ends up being way overproduced and drops to $10 a few months later.. thats what I'm afraid of.

It is quirky. It's one of those Japanese niche games. As you beat the mini-games you unlock different outfits for the girl your trying to impress. Also, if you have older SEGA GBA games like Space Channel 5, Chu Chu Rocket, etc. you unlock different outfits from those games.

It's no big mystery why people flock to system launches. The reasons abound: novelty, status, boredom, and so on. I used to get paid to write about new tech stuff so I had an excuse to buy newly launched systems but I've always been a CAG. My new machine's library will usually consist of a single game until the first deep discounting begins. In the case of the N64 I got lucky and won second place ina trivia contest Nintendo ran and got a free copy of Wave Race at its release. On the Dreamcast it was sonic Adventure and nothing else for almost five months.

I'm already ahead of the curve on DS, though. due to luck and nefarious scheming I've got Mario DS and Feel the Magic for $15. This and the effective $16 rebate at TRU ($10 Gift Card and TRU Visa) makes it a lot easier to justify buying this system at launch.

So being between Feel the Magic and Mario 64 DS, which would you pick? I'll get both eventually, but I know Mario 64 is much less likely to drop price..

I say get Mario 64 first because it has more replay value and is a longer game altogether ( not to mention multiplayer ). Feel The Magic can be beaten in about 5 hours if you work hard at it....some of those mini-games are tough though.

Got the last 3 at my Wal-Mart (gifts) about an hour ago. Lady working the night shift said I was the only one to buy a DS during her shift (she works 11PM to 7AM). They must have put them on the floor sometime after 11:30 AM on Sunday, because I was checking their on floor stock religiously before then starting Friday night.

I can also say that Feel the Magic is very good. I'm glad I got it. It really shows off the use of the stylus. Some people can't justify spending that much on a bunch of minigames, but they're fun. I definitely see myself playing them when I get bored or when I'm on the go. If I had to choose between that and Mario, I'd probably pick Mario because it's longer and has more replayability.

Just came from TRU in Cincinnati and they had about 20 DS units on their shelf. Everyone else here seems to be sold out.

Got mine at Meijers here and since my girlfriend works there got 10% off on it :D (sorry, had to brag a bit)

Checked in my CC and BB today in Myrtle Beach SC, both out of stock.
And I didn't realize the DS was so small, for some reason I thought it was bigger.

Great game, imo.
Agree with these other guys.

The gamecrazy I work at has about 10 left today. I just started there, unfortuantely we only get discount on software..

I have plenty in my area! Can easily find them everywhere so it may just be a regional thing.

Best Buy in Niles had 10 still available if you in the chicago area and looking to get one check there. They also had a bunch of copies of Feel the Magic and Mario 64.

I am starting to smell PS2 missing for Xmas hype...

Still debating on picking up some to sell.

Try places people wouldn't normally look for them at. I had a BB and TRU about a block away from each other in two different shopping centers both sold out, then CC said they had some still in stock and they're right in between both BB and TRU. This was in Sugar Land, TX by the way. I'm going to guess CompUSA might have some too but I never bothered checking. I really wish I could've used my $10 target gift card though. Oh well.

My Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, and TRU all have about twelve boxes on display, and probably more in the back. It doesnt seem to be sold out at all around here. People seemed to be making a big deal over nothing. Than again, I guess that's how the holidays go.

Your from Sugarland? I'm from Pearland.
Anywayz, my local BB had about 30 systems, but only a few games and Target had about 10 systems but no games.

Hastings (Stillwater, OK)

Loaded with tons

Picked up one for myself

Local Wally World is hoarding for Black Friday (Went at Midnight and found out the hard way - Damn I was tired the next day).
