Congrats! Mine shipped yesterday and should arrive early next week (it's gotta cross the country to get over here).
Unlike everyone else who is getting a spare, this is my first DS since my DSL. I know everyone on SD is a feeding frenzy of hacked firmware, but I'm fine with how cheap games seem to be. Even cheaper if I was able to stroll clearance end caps. Hopefully some day soon.

You really can't go wrong with any of the first party Nintendo titles. The 3DS/2DS line has some of the best Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Kirby, and Metroid games of any Nintendo console ever made. Along with other franchises, like Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and others.

There is also Animal Crossing New Leaf Welcome Amiibo, which I actually think is a superior version of Animal Crossing than the Switch version. And, there are other great third party games as well, like the Yo-Kai Watch series, and a lot of other cool games. Also the fact that the console plays all of your old DS games, makes it more than worthwhile, in my opinion.

From the stuff on sale right now:

Thumper is a very intense sorta rhythm game, probably the most Metal game this side of Brutal Legend (this being the “waking nightmare” side). There’s a lot of trial and error, but (at least on PS4) you’re set back on track in no time. Pair it up with some good headphones or a setup with a subwoofer turned way up.

Consider It is a more chill take on WarioWare, where you’re dropped into a situation to figure out what is the most considerate course of action to take. Has a good sense of humor and an interesting 2-player mode where you’re ranked on how well you work together to diffuse the situations.

The Swindle is a steampunk-themed 2D platformer roguelike where you explore big houses stealing treasures and money in preparation for a final, major heist. On the way there you get a whole bunch of upgrades that progressively transform the way you play. I’ve played like 40 hours of it over the years, it’s got a great play loop.

Quarantine Circular is a short, dialogue-focused branching narrative from the creator of Thomas Was Alone about... uh... interrogating an alien who appears involved in the outbreak of a global pandemic. Oooookay.... Another game in this style, Subsurface Circular, was on sale for the same price a few weeks ago, but only costs $6 at full price.

It's gimped like dominos, where you have to play 4 player up to 61 points only, which is like ~3 hands based on luck.

Poker should have had limit/no limit with no round limits, dominos should have had 2 player, up to 100 or 200 points, President should have had weighted scoring instead of getting 1st for 9 rounds, you can still get last after round 10.

I get it, it's supposed to be quick/party games but they should allow for single player with no limit.

I bought the game (Brazil $26) over a month ago digitally knowing full well the games are meant to be short or fast paced, it's designed to be played in a couch co-op type setting and I'm not going to bash the game because it's not full no limit 21 or Texas Hold em etc. Would I like that mode added to single player? sure.

oh.. and RGT85 may disagree with the legally not Connect 4 being easy.  :lol:

I finished Dragon Quest 11 and I must say I really enjoyed the experience. The story was good, a little slow at times, but leveled out at the mid point and really took off. The tactics really made it more enjoyable to let some party members auto play on set play styles and I loved how everyone leveled in the game together even if they weren’t in the immediate party of 4 ( you octopath). I do wish there were more inherent spell weaknesses in enemies like I’m a metal blob, electricity will mess me up, but most abilities felt to affect about the same.

I played the whole time on my switch lite so I highly recommend it mobile.

Not sure where to put this but today at Walmart I bought Octopath Traveler, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Xenoblade Torna for $18 each. I also got Ocarina of Time 3DS and Cave Story for Switch for $5 each, and Metroid Samus Returns for $10. I’m sure this is all YMMV but they had them on a table by electronics in clearance.

Now I don’t have to wait for a digital sale on Octopath and Fire Emblem.

Well, Connect 4 is a solved game. So as long as you know what you're doing, player 1 will always win. It's like tic tac toe; it's easy to only ever have draw games

Okay, you just piqued my interest. I know I have friends who had done it with a 64GB with some software to force FAT (forgot which variant) to format it past the 32GB limit. But I don't think I've heard of people using a 256GB. Then again, it was a couple years ago, and prices have gone down. I'm going to have to look into that.

The tool is GUIFormat. I've had a 64GB card in my O3DS since maybe 2015 and a 128GB card in my N3DS XL since 2017, they both work perfectly. I'd be more concerned about the card itself being a dud and not lasting.

What is the point of My Nintendo platinum coins? Every month I look for things to use platinum coins on and there is nothing worth getting since I already cashed in coins on discounts and other things already months ago. The end of this month I will have 700 platinum coins expiring.

I am a 2ds walmart person...could you elaborate or point me in the proper direction for more info? I haven't had a nintendo system since the wii so I have no idea about their point system. I mostly got it to collect carts but I am interested in some NES and SNES titles that are only available digitally.

Pretty much, the discounts are applied directly to your account when you redeem.

About half of the discounts available are cycled out around the start of each month.

I think I can cash in 3DS themes indefinitely if anyone wants that kind of thing. Of course the best themes require you use gold, not platinum coins. Again, platinum coins are pretty useless. I am just going to let them expire and not bother earning them anymore.

Wish you could hook me up with that Dr. Mario 30% off but on first glance it seems like I shouldn't have much issue getting enough points on my own to get there. Also looks like once you get it set up and going, those points should roll in fairly easily seeing as how there are not many great redemption options for my interests.

I checked and it is a "Just for you" offer which is linked to my account unfortunately. The discount code is only 140 plat coins which you can earn in a couple of weeks easily. I earned 90 points a week consistently doing the following:

1) Login to the eshop from 3DS or Wii U once a week: 30 plat coins

2) Login to Nintendo store website once a week: 30 plat coins

3) Login to My Nintendo website once a week: 30 plat coins.

There are a bunch of game related things you can do to earn plat coins too. I would just do the 3 things listed above every week and I had plenty of plat coins for anything that was offered that I was interested in.

If anyone is on the fence about Clubhouse Games, it’s an excellent value overall. My wife doesn’t “Game” at all, but we put about 6 hours into Clubhouse over the weekend.

Well I don't disagree with shovelware being annoying but 99vidas isn't really shovelware. It was a crowdfunded game that clearly had passion put into it. They just obviously didn't know how to make a good beat em up. Art and animation was pretty good though I thought.

I appreciate the help. I racked up like 400 points in 10 minutes since I had never set any of this up before and redeemed the Dr. Mario discount. Looks like it fit on the included card with no issues, I really probably need to look into an upgrade soon.

Side note, is it just me or is nintendo's website, eshop, and rewards convoluted and confusing as hell to navigate. It took me like 3 times as long to figure out how to set up the nnid and link it as it did to rack up the points. It just doesn't seem user friendly or something. Not the first time I have noticed it but this is the first time I was actually trying to do something on there.

There's some easy platinum points to get by downloading mobile games. For example, downloading that Pokemon Rumble free game and linking your accounts gets you 300.

99Vidas is pretty aight. Played it on PS4, but was nothing super special.

The bad thing about the PS4 version is it uses the speaker on the DS4 and the volume is always at max without an option in game to turn it down or off.

If you like puzzle games, Picross 3D Round 2 is definitely worth your time.
