What you think the reasoning is for releasing Skyward Sword at full price but Galaxy getting bundled with 2 other enhanced games for the same price? Both Wii games and both got enhancements. So why is it that we have to pay full price for one game but get three enhanced Mario games for the same price?

mk8d is overall better quality for all ages. The only reason I'd go with super mario party is if all 4 would enjoy sitting down and playing a simple board game at the same time. or if you already owned mk8 on wii-u.

What kind of controllers do you have? Both games support 4 players, but Party only works with Joy-cons, so you would need a 2nd pair of those if you want everyone playing at the same time. Kart will use pretty much any controller.

I personally like Party better, but that’s just Mario Kart Wii having sapped away any joy I had left for those.

- Had to do more work with the button mapping
- Visually, Skyward Sword benefits more from the upgrade than SMG
- I don’t think Skyward Sword was ever available through the Wii U eshop. It’s only been on Wii.
- In fairness, Skyward Sword is a much meatier game than SMG

But yeah, mainly greed.
 
Anybody use the PowerA enhanced wireless controllers and like them?  I really like how the Meat Boy looks, but wonder if I'll feel like I wasted money since all I ever use is the 1st party pro controller.  It does look slick though...

some walmarts, according to unreliable brickseek have the mario pro bundle, but I just wanted the meat boy design cause it looked cool.  Don't really need a new switch controller pro or otherwise

Was looking through the Gamefly deals trying to justify Paper Mario and Pikmin 3 to myself when Immortals Fenyx Rising caught my eye.  Took a look over on Amazon and its currently 50% off at $30 which seems like a decent deal.

It's a decent enough game, but it will definitely be cheaper. I got it for $13 during one of Gamestop's "buy 5 at 50% off" sale in January and played through some of it.

The game is definitely less challenging and more kid-friendly than LoZ: BotW. The art style reminds me a lot of WoW, with the gameplay being more like 2000's era platformers. The story is very generic, and while there are some funny jokes, the frequency with which they make the jokes mean that a lot of them fall flat.

But maybe I'm just getting older, and the game is a great throwback to when platformers were all the rage. I guess objectively, Ratchet and Clank and Jak & Daxter games were cartoonish, corny fun, just like this. The only difference is that this one copied mini-dungeons, climbing, gliding, and just about every other improvement BotW made to the genre as a whole.

I came back here to also say thank you. It took several date changes and refreshes on my computer before I was able to trick the website into completing the time expired contest signup missions, but that allowed me to bring my total up to 14. I got credit for registering SM3D in less then 24 hours (more like 7) and was able to claim a pins #2 code. I’m not surprised that pin codes are still available, compared to the first set which everyone could just do overnight, this set would have officially required paying attention over several months.

Since I was paying for shipping anyway, I went ahead and reinstalled FEH which I haven’t touched in two plus years. Even if I didn’t have a decent team ready, the game basically handed me four new 5 stars that I used to wreck book two and top off my plat points to add some random stuff to the order as well. I would have liked that Zelda acrylic, but it was “temporarily out of stock”.

FWIW: I wasn’t even planning to buy SM3D, but my wife swore she had never played it and I still had that email from BB for 10 off a Mario game. My little girl loves watching her mom play, so all in all, this worked out pretty well.

I'll agree with most of what Blade said, but this game has really failed to draw me in for some reason. I have a few hours of play (unlocked the wings and some different equipment), but every time I play it I have had to really push myself to do so instead of playing something else.

It's not bad, but even with all the features taken the BoTW ingredients it still just feels like a very generic open world game to me. I'm not sure why but I can't really get into it.

I made the mistake of playing through immortals before playing BOTW and it made me hate a few things in BOTW. The BOTW mount system, breaking weapons, the rain/lightning and the motion control puzzles all annoyed the hell out of me. The motion control puzzles were awful on the switch lite. It might have been better if I had joycons.

Aside from the motion controls (also played on a switch lite and I couldn't agree more), the things you are complaining about made the game harder and increase your need to plan, manage resources, etc.
Those challenges contributed to my enjoyment of BotW, but that's not true for everyone.

Fenyx makes all of that magically easier, and even adds absurdly high jumping and full leaps out of a swim. The whole thing just seems a lot easier overall and less fun coming from the other direction.

I honestly don't know how I would have felt about BotW if it wasn't a Zelda game or if I didn't love the stylized look, but maybe I would have given up on it like I have with Fenyx. Tough to say.

I don't think any of the issues I had with BOTW made the game harder, it just made the game more tedious. I stopped using the mounts. If it started raining while I was trying to climb something, I would just leave the game running and go do something else instead of dealing with making a camp fire and resting until the rain stopped.

Yeah, mostly agree. I bought it at the same price, and actually finished it. It's definitely a hard copy of botw, while still inferior in most aspects. If i'm gaming on :switch: I'd rather play botw. In my view, the things Immortals does better is (i) melee combat and (ii) the potential to run much better on superior hardware. That said, it's one of my favorite ubi games and I'm looking to pick it up on pc/uplay once it inevitably gets cheap (<$15).

I loved this franchise for the longest time, but the videos I've seen of this new version seem ... off to me.

Have you played Rogue Legacy? To me it feels like the best conceivable natural progression of the Ghosts n' Goblins / Ghouls n' Ghosts legacy. If you haven't tried it, I'd highly recommend it.

It's going to be different, but not in a bad way I think. Ultimate GnG on PSP also felt "different", but that game was really good as well. I'm just curious about length. Earlier GnG was able to pad this through sheer difficulty and the forced double playthrough, but the games have never really been all that long. Ultimate padded this with the ring quest. I really don't see them going overboard on difficulty in this day and age, it seems in this game you can lose parts of your armor on hit and not the whole suit. Maybe like Ultimate where in lower difficulties you could take a few hits before losing armor. In absence of that do we get some doodad hunt or more levels to give it meat on the bones? I don't think they can deliver a 5/6 level + final boss affair that was fine on earlier games. I do like how they seem to have lots of the old enemies, with new spins on them.

And yes, played Rogue Legacy to death, filled the tree and did many playthroughs. It was somewhat similar. Battle Princess Madelyn was also a game I liked in that realm.

Huge fan of the series and I have been following the game since it was announced. I'm super excited for the release and will be picking it up over the weekend. The reviews are starting to appear and they are mostly positive and exactly what I was expecting. They have added some difficulty options which is nice change and basic stage progression (continue where you left off) which will be helpful.

I loved Rogue Legacy but I don't think that they are really similar games. Rogue Legacy always reminded me of a procedural generated Castlevania or Legendary Axe. Battle Princess Madelyn was more close to the formula but didn't grab me right away. I need to go back and play that some more because I know they patched it and added some things to help with navigation.

Because Nintendo is smart, they know people will pay for a Skyward Sword retexture with new controls. They must also be aware that people are nearly obsessed with the Twilight Princess and Wind Waker retextures for WiiU, and bringing them to Switch, because it was these 3 games that is all most everyone on Twitter, Reddit, etc talked about for the 35th anniversary.

It’s an excellent game that got me hooked on the other games in the series. I highly recommend it, and it’s one of the few RPGs besides Persona 5 where I was actually interested in every characters background.
 
How are we supposed to know when the Zelda joy cons go up for preorder? Walmart is one of the last places to preorder but I missed all the other sites because it seems like it's random. How did everyone here know when to preorder at Target and Amazon etc??

I missed them too. Pretty bummed. Probably best option is to set alerts for Wario64 on twitter

Honestly, just hoping that you’re at the right place at the right time. I follow Wario64 and missed the Best Buy listing by 10 minutes because I went to go walk my dog. I saw the target listing because I was watching my dog outside and decided to refresh my timeline.

edit: oops. i meant Best Buy and not Amazon. i dont think it's popped up there yet.
