Dead Cells is pretty good especially on the Switch. That one I bit on when it was on sale. I was waiting for Into the Breach again. I love the PC version and it's pretty fun and very strategic. Will be great on the go.

Just finished Detective Pikachu on 3DS morning. Good game. Lots of voiceovers and Pokemon sounds made it pretty neat, and I never make an effort to listen to games. Differs enough from the movie to be interesting . Doesn't have same ending as movie. I'm wondering if the Switch version will tie into the movie more?

Correct - it’ll stack. If you check the eShop for the digital version of SMM2 that includes a year of Nintendo Online, it mentions being able to stack up to three years at a time on your account, so you’re golden.

Yeah, the trick is there's way more coins than needed, so skip through the early stuff without worrying about the coins. There's also way more time than necessary, so you can take your time on the second set of balance boards since moving around or jumping too much will get you killed over and over again easily.

I think my upload run in that level was maybe at about 80 seconds or so, so it's possible to get under 2 minutes.

I'd say the majority of players just play others' levels rather than create them. It's $60 for an infinite amount of 2D Mario.

That's my plan. I don't plan to create anything, just play. Hopefully when my son gets older he'll fool around with making levels, but I just don't have the time to mess around with that.

Not sure what age qualifies as older kids but I'm watching my 7 and 10 year old cousins over summer and they have been addicted to the game, all they've done is create as well. Been doing the local co-op creation at that and haven't yelled at each other too much, lol.

Just hopped on to play Ninjin for like thirty minutes. It is way better than I expected! It's super cute but the gameplay is pretty quick and addictive. Plus it seems your are constantly earning and upgrading gear to keep the (poor joke intended) carrot at the end of the stick haha.

But yeah for $1 definitely a good buy!

I wouldn't really call any opinions I hold within the first few hours of playing the game and making levels a review just yet since I'm still figuring things out.

The gist of what I've seen so far is that the interface for controllers can be a bit frustrating since they tried to adapt a touch interface from the first game for a device that can't offer that 100% of the time, so pulling up new items to add to the level or finding the alternate forms of any item is not great right now. That said, the act of making levels is a lot of fun and figuring out how to bring ideas to life in the level is a great feeling. Playing through the story mode to learn about more things that can be done with the game really stokes the creativity part of my brain as I learn about cool ways of using their tools, win conditions, and more to do things other than pure, classic Mario-style platforming levels. If you're not much of a creative person when it comes to these sorts of blank slate creation games, that part of the game probably won't do much for you. The story mode and offerings in the course world from other players has enough meat to make it very good as a Mario game that is able to let its freak flag fly to do things that you'd never see done in a normal Mario game.

I do have a bone to pick with the game's community features since you have to create a profile, with a name that has to be 10 digits or less and not already taken, just for the game that's separate from the Switch friends list that means you can't see levels made by friends without finding some means of contacting them outside of the Switch ecosystem to get their username or a level code from them to allow you to follow them. It really makes the Switch's lack of messaging features stick out and not having a way to see usernames of Switch friends to follow them equally makes no sense. It's kind of an isolating game in that sense. It also doesn't help that the Pro Controller is not good for 2D platformers.

Anyone think Nintendo is working on a new dock? I found some Nintendo switch dock sets at a liquidation store would come out to like $35 thinking of buying one but wasn’t sure cause I def would like to use it later and not have it be outdated.

I have been on the hunt for a second dock myself for cheap. I hope so, that way I can get the old model for cheap seeing as I couldn't find any back when Target clearanced the first wave out for like $12!

I feel like with a Switch redesign they'll figure out how to keep the formfactor the same to continue using the same dock, but who knows. The current thinking is that the next Switch would be a "Mini" version with solid, non-removable joycons and probably sold without a dock, so they'll want it to work with the existing docks that people will most likely already own (because they new Minis will be for your kids to play Pokemon).

And if they completely throw out the current docks with a new redesign, you'll at least have a bit-overpriced 1st party AC adapter that's guaranteed not to fry your Switch. Nintendo wouldn't change from a USB-C power connection with any future Switch revisions (at least for a long time, I think USB-C is here to stay for many years).

Wow that’s a good price on Into the Breach..finally going to pick this up!

Does this happen to anyone else?

I usually put games on my wish list waiting for a sale, but I’m finding that when that sale finally comes I’m not as interested in pulling the trigger despite that being the EXACT reason it’s on there.

That SEGA collection went on sale and I passed. Ditto Dead Cells. I bought Golf Story and kinda wish I hadn’t, I forced myself into that one.

Now I’m staring down into the breach...

Dead Cells is pretty good especially on the Switch. That one I bit on when it was on sale. I was waiting for Into the Breach again. I love the PC version and it's pretty fun and very strategic. Will be great on the go.

Since picking up Into the Breach on Friday morning, I've played it for over 20 hours. I can't get enough of it. Spend the $7.50 if you enjoyed Advance Wars even a little.

Well I just received my 30% off birthday coupon from Nintendo. For a brief second I thought it was for any digital title, but sadly it’s still restricted to 12 titles, all 3DS and WiiU. Maybe one day they’ll add some Switch titles. I miss the old my Nintendo.

Yeah, I just got my birthday coupon the other day too. Pretty disappointing fare. Seems almost like a script Nintendo has let run on its own with no thought of updating it.

I still play my 3DS, mind you, but I'm not buying anything new for it. Already have everything.

A Switch game discount would have been nice. Might have treated myself. Lost opportunity.

Made a new Super Mario Maker 2 level called Kingdom Bully Patrol: 08K-33K-MFG

Previous stages:

SmashPad Gaiden Type 0 (shmup): YTS-42S-6KG

Console Tariffs (tough platformer): MVT-FW1-7SG

Finally figured out where to find my Maker ID (More Info on Maker profile page): 1GT-NJ0-N3G

Still only have two people completing Console Tariffs and the world record time is still about 18 seconds behind my clear check time. The shmup level is nearing 50% completion (40.29% right now), which is cool to see. The world record on that stage is .9 seconds faster than my clear check time.

I think these new joycons make the switch look more like a Sega Nomad.

Aren't these the things that are battery powered, with no rumble support? I might be thinking of something else because they look so comfortable.

I didn’t watch the video but I think these giant joycons are not battery-powered, they run off the Switch so you need to have them attached for them to work. Basically just like Hori left joycon dpad replacement, where it doesn’t work detached and has no rumble or motion control built in. These big joycons are a Daemon X Machina tie-in (note the font used on the X button).

Those look a little too bulky for me.  I recently bought the Hori dpad mario L joycon (on sale for $15 at gs/amz) and I found it to make a huge difference.  I've always found the default joycon layout very uncomfortable.  The sticks are still in wonky places, but not having to use buttons as a dpad makes a world of difference.
