And prior to the switch the complaint was nintendo wouldnt put many games in the store from 3rd parties..

All they are doing (nintendo/steam/apple/android/sony/etc) are giving people the ability to put their game out there for the masses to see.

Im sure many people can point out struggling no name devs that were going nowhere, and were able to put their game up on steam etc and skyrocketed them to a big indie dev.

I love seeing the indie devs getting a place on the switch etc, forcing all the big names to actually create good games instead of the same old stuff cause they have little to no competition.
Id rather play indie games instead of some EA/activision/ubisoft/etc game a lot of the time.


Edit: and id much rather see the players make the decision on what games are quality (with their wallets) than Nintendo/Steam/apple/etc.

I agree. Of course, like Backlash said, pros and cons to both sides, but I can't help but feel like we're going to get bunch of shovelware. Choice is always a good thing, but the crappy search/filter on eshop + it's like steam without the crazy steam sales = littered pile of shit (subjective) that we have to sift through if we haven't been keeping up to date.

Is Brawlout any good on the Switch? Debating about getting it at the current eshop price but I’ve read there’s issues with load times which makes me wonder if one of the more powerful consoles would be a better place to play despite lack of on the go play.

Yeah, it's good on any of the "new" units, as those are the only ones that play SNES games.

Wow, $150 during Prime day uh? That wasn't a bad deal for sure, but of course people interested needed Prime, which I'll assume not all had. I wish NoA had brought the Super Famicom/EU version to the states, as the SNES is my favorite system of all time. But the US system while able to play the same games, is probably my least favorite "N" has ever offered in the looks department.

I agree. Not trying to imply they are being nefarious as Steam has been accused of. I just think it's a poor business practice. There needs to be a middle ground, which would involve a healthy amount of curation. Nintendo has historically done a great job with this, then stopped halfway through the 3ds's life when they started putting horrible fodder on the eshop. I'm always up for new and inventive games, but since Nintendo obviously knows what the difference between a good and bad game is, they need to be more involved and more picky.

If you were looking for a tent in Wal-mart and there were literally hundreds of brands ranging from Coleman all the way down to every garage-dwelling small business, customers would have a more stressful time figuring out the best options. The bubble would grow, sales and consumer confidence falls, and some of even the best tent makers would go out of business. This is where Wal-mart comes in as a buyer-curator to ease the process. A little market research should be done before selling to customers. Nintendo does not seem very interested in this in regards to the eShop, and that's disappointing.

That's how it's come to having Astro Bears headlining every sale. It's gross and reminds me of the Apple app store from 5 years ago (idk what it's like today)

I don't really get the hate on steam. More games and cheaper prices is a big win for consumers. Is it more difficult to find all the good games because of the crap? Sure. But you ignoring that steam was the platform that allowed these indie games to flourish so they could bring higher quantity and higher quality games. If it's too stressful to spend a little time researching games and watching youtube videos than maybe you need a new hobby. Nintendo never did a quality check on the games anyways. Really good games like Axiom Verge took forever to get approved on the Switch while bad games got right through.

Reality though is that's just the way the market works. In a growing market, there are generally fewer options and there is more individual visibility and people can make money easier. That easy money invites competition and more vendors bring products to the market. At some point the growth stops, prices go down, and some of the competitors can't make it because that easy money is gone. Then the market goes through a period of rightsizing until it hits the right balance of people supplying games matches the amount of money from consumers in that market.

Okay, so your idea is Nintendo picks and chooses the bad and good games, choosing your games for you. Well that takes time and money for Nintendo to staff a unit devoted to picking the good games. What would you be willing to pay for such a service? Would you pay a $50 a year subscription for Nintendo to limit your choice? Do you think all the Switch owners would be cool with that because it's really an all or nothing program since the game won't be available to the other consumers? Do you think that maybe the developers/publishers that are successful will say screw that I'm just not going to try to get games on the Switch because people know I make good games and the PC/other consoles will support me?

Not every game should be or needs to be approved for their store. Complaining isn't gonna change that, but don't try to convince me garbage software developers getting the same attention as actual games from indie developers is a good thing for the eshop. It ain't.

Anyone else having issues updating Enter the Gungeon to the Gungeons and Draguns version on Switch?

I’m still on version 1.04 and I’ve tried everything I could think of (checking for update, deleting the game and redownloading, deleting game/hard restart and redownload) and nothing seems to update it to anything above 1.04 whereas the Gungeons and Dragun update is supposedly 2.0.

So are you the person that decides if a developer is "garbage" or an "actual" developer?

There was a game released a few weeks ago that people like that prior to that release... they were considered one of those "garbage" developers...

Granted there are bad/garbage games out there, but thats the *consumers* job to decide if it is or isn't garbage.

And yes, games like you mentioned DO SELL. You may not like it, i would never buy one.. but there are those people out there that will throw money at any game shop that puts them up there.

**Don't like the game? nobody is forcing you to buy it... just scroll on by.**

I'm all for letting a wide variety of devs release their games on any platform and letting the players decide what's worthy of their time and money, so you probably should use me as an example of somebody that wouldn't want that.

If you go into the options there should be a setting that lets you choose to have the original game settings or the gungeons and draguns settings that basically change the item drop rates.

Edit: it’s under loot profile and version 1.0.4 does have the gungeon and draguns update. You won’t visually see a difference, but you should find more loot more often. I’ve played the vanilla version and sometimes wouldn’t find a non default weapon until the second level.

So does anyone run their 3DS with a 64gb sd card? I can’t believe it, but I’m almost maxed out on my 32gb card. I know the bigger cards need to be formatted to fat32, but has anyone had any issues with the larger card over time?

I have a 128gb and haven’t had any issues with it. Works great. And you don’t have to format most 64gb cards, in my experience they work fine without being formatted.
 
I'm currently running a 128GB card I believe and once formatted to Fat 32, all is good. My card is actually just about maxed out as well, and I have zero issues(at least none a vanilla OS system would have anyways).

More like it should have a permanant price drop to $1... its on sale for $1 more than its “full “ price.


Didnt salt and sanctuary get cancelled for vita about a year or so ago? Bet they stopped the vita work and started for switch, knowing N isnt going to abandon the Switch anytime soon.

Crap, now that i look at the game... salt and sanctuary isnt the game i was thinking of... whoops.
I bought the ps4 version of the game i was thinking of becuse they were working on the vita cross buy... then cancelled it a few months later.
Now it will drive me nuts thinking of the game..
