Does anybody know for sure that Fire Emblem will be $50 in store at Walmart? I think the CAG Facebook page said something about it when MUA3 was on sale earlier in the week.

I’d like to know too. So far google has led me to Costco’s website. They have $50 cards for $45 with digital delivery, but I assume it’s members only.
 
Dammit, now I can't stop thinking about Splatoon 2.

There seems to be a $10 discount across the board, but only for the starter pack?  I have to wonder why the non-starter version (which has objectively less in the package) is more expensive.

I'm trying to figure out whether it's worth the money to purchase some eShop credit (per the discussion in this thread).  Generally speaking, for an older system with no new games coming out, do people expect that games would be cheaper in the eShop, or in-store/eBay?  I'm sure the answer is, "it depends," but I'm looking for some general guidance here.

Basically, I don't want to buy $50 in eShop credit and never use it because I can almost always find physical games cheaper elsewhere. :) I just bought Fire Emblem Warriors cheap from eBay, so that's influencing my thinking now.

I would start a physical collection and avoid the eShop. With the Switch Lite coming out, you are going to find a ton of people getting rid of their 3DS stuff for cheap.

Thank you so much! Slowly getting all the tables on Switch. Had them all on PS4 and refuse to get them all again at full price. Wish they would just transfer to the different systems but I guess they are making more money this way from suckers like me

Unless it’s something rare, you’ll get better prices looking for physical copies. Worthwhile sales on the eShop are getting less frequent (one day the Great Atlus Sale shall return). I’d say get some credit for when digital-only stuff goes on sale or in case a good sale on a retail title pops up.

Check your local Walmart, they have been dumping 3DS games into a clearance bin. I found little battlers experience for $5. They also had Metroid samus returns and Zelda a link between worlds for around $30 or less. I highly recommend adding those two as I feel they fit into the top ten 3DS games made. But as with any local store YMMV.

As a 3ds owner that has a mixture of digital and physical games...here are the pros/cons imo

pros:

physical : better deals, can be traded, game collection, can be shared with family and friends

digital : convenience, theft protection (games are account based), all your games are readily available everywhere with minimal effort

cons:

physical: can be lost or stolen, if lost/stolen/traded you lose your saves too (unless you buy digital and transfer beforehand) , carrying a bunch of games, inserting a new game every time you want to play something different, not having all of your game without carrying a bunch of games

digital: less deals, cannot be shared with family friends, cannot be traded

I love digital for my Switch but for the 2DS/3DS lineup physical is the way to go. So many chances for used games at great prices.

Personally the only time I’d go digital is if someone were selling a code or if a game was on sale and the cart was a rare and expensive title.

Check the forums here, I bet there are some deals out there.

No... I may borrow the PS4 version from the library, or possibly rent from Redbox if I come across a good code/deal. I'd really only want to play MK11 for the story. I'm not a big fan of NetherRealm's fight mechanics and feel, but that's entirely a personal preference.

 
Any chance of super Mario 2 steelbook being available at Best Buy later?

I actually found a copy of Mario maker 2 at the flea market for $5 no case just the game. Odd transaction but I bought it for sure...I’d like to have a case for it tho lol
 
Welp, just bought Splatoon 2 this weekend.  I hope you guys are happy.

I made sure to wait until the Splatfests were over and the DLC went back up to full price.   :dunce:

I think it was already too late for the splatfests/DLC discount by the time I first brought it up. I'm not really going to lose sleep over the DLC; I managed to grab the Smash Ultimate discount so it wasn't a total loss.

And I didn't need the vouchers. I prefer physical, and I saved $10 anyway because Amazon had it for $50. But thanks for trying to help!

i agree for all Nintendo IP first party, I want my Nintendo seal of quality (even though they don’t put it anymore)
I also love cartridges
But I bought the raise deal, got two $50 eshop codes for $72 and I usually wait till there’s a third party game I want

I pre ordered Luigi mansion, demon x machine and Metroid prime so I’ll just have to wait for Zelda and Mario maker

Yeah, that's a good price for Disgaea 5. I remember doing the whole BF price for this game at Best Buy back in 2017 and being part of the uproar, managing to get it via price protection, and then never opening it. Now I'm about to just trade it in towards an eShop card to get it on sale, ha.
