September is crazy just for Switch games alone even with DQ11 and Link's Awakening. Getting Borderlands 3 as well. Just a very packed month and i'm sure i'm missing some big other releases.
Astral Chain may as well be a September release as well given it came out on the 30th. Glad it did though as it gave me just enough time to beat it before Iceborne today. I think with Iceborne I am done buying new releases for the rest of the year tbh. There is just too much to play right now, especially because I want to play games that are part of free services this month (Batman/Darksiders 3, and a boat load of games on the SNES Switch library.)

Spent all summer working through my backlog only to get absolutely slammed with new stuff I want to play at the end lol.

My Pro Controller is still messed up after the stream yesterday. It has the green light on the bottom still on like it's connected to the Switch, but the Switch is off and the controller registers no inputs. I guess I'll let the battery run out and see if that fixes it.
Not sure what you've tried yet (haven't watch the stream), but pressing the sync button on the pro (or even joycons) will turn it off. If that fails, beyond waiting for the battery to drain you could open it and disconnect the battery. There are plenty of disassembly videos for it on youtube. But the sync button may be the fix.

Bought the Switch revision a couple of weeks ago and haven’t played it much. I’ve been playing Dragon Quest Builders 2, and I’m noticing that the joystick on the left Joycon has “dead zones”, specifically up and down. If I move left and right, my character walks/runs fine, but to move forwards and backwards, I really have to push.

Has anyone else noticed this with the Joycons from the revised Switch? I’ve had three pairs previously and never had this problem.

Sorry Camper, I don't have any input on your subject, but you did get me thinking about Joycons. When the new colors come out next month, I really want purple and yellow. Is there anyone that wants blue and orange, so we could each buy one set and swap the unwanted color? PM me.

(Also, if this is against the rules, feel free to delete - Sorry!)

Probably end up buying that SNES controller.. it's only usable for the SNES games though right?

I would expect it to work like an 8bitdo SNES controller does already, with all the inputs that's on the controller working in any game that accepts those inputs. I'm pretty sure I read that the NES controller that Nintendo put out does work with some other games (probably games that don't require analog sticks, so mostly 2D games).
Interestingly enough the NES controller works for a few other games. SNK Collection being a more logical one, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe being a less obvious one. I would imagine the SNES controller would have at least that much functionality if not more.

Have you tried reconnecting with a cable to the switch?

It's died now. I've tried charging it with the cable in my PC (normally what I do) and the Switch dock and it does nothing now. The ring around the home button doesn't even light up to show that it's charging, so I have no idea what happened to it. It seems like it's dead.

The ring around the home button lights up?!? Mine just has an orange light next to the usb c port. How or why does the home button light up, and how have I missed this? Now I know how my parents feel when I fix their computer. Wizardry I say!

Should we consider organizing these eshop sales list by deals that are unprecedented or for games that are actually recognizable from reputable developers? These sales are perpetual exercises in finding a needle in a haystack.

Kinda interested in the Switch fitness thing but I need more information as I am not sure if will be compatible with someone of my size. The board for the Wii Fit U was not rated to my size unfortunately.

I wouldn’t worry too much about not being “compatible”. To me it appears in the video to be a guided light calisthenics program. The only part where your size could be an issue is the thigh belt for the joy con. But I’m sure that would be an easy fix using your own custom belt.

That is my hope yeah.

I bought Undertale today and started playing it. I loved Secret of Mana and Earthbound so I can understand the charm so far, it’s a fun little game.

Sounds like a lot of work and I think Frisky is pretty busy.

Yeah, leave Frisky alone, hes got his system, and hes been doing his thing for years now. Unless he wants/asks us, then let him live bro......

FRISKY IS THE GATEWAY TO NINTENDO BLISS, dont f### wit it!

*(lol jk....seriously if frisky needs help, please dude, let us know what we can do)

I'm doing a Dreamcast 20th Anniversary stream and it's about to go live in a few minutes (link).

Not sure if this was mentioned, but I was looking at the Nintendo Vouchers again (still trying to decide what I want to use mine on), and saw that they added Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore for anyone interested. I may end up using one of my vouchers on that, though I might want a physical copy of that.

About those classic Dragon Quest ports Asia is getting...

Woof.

Also, thanks Frisky for still looking up the 3DS deals, Radiant Historia was one of my last big wants from those. :D

Seriously, with an English option on those games, Squeenix is literally throwing money down the drain if they don't release them in america

I personally think it’s very likely they will, but releasing them in that state with their usual pricing (remember the 3 game Mana collection is bloody $40) I wouldn’t even touch them.

I'd argue $40 is a good price for three dragon quest games, but it is your money not mine. Also if anyone was curious, I own the android ports of 1-3, and I feel that these versions look better (if only a little) than those.

Honestly, I'd be fine if it was the NES ports of Dragon Warrior 1 - 4 as they are already in English.

That said, I'd happily just pay the $40 for these lesser ports. My guess is since DQ Builders 2 released this year and the focus right now is on DQ XI-S... it'll be 2020 before they announce them. I'll likely end up just importing the Asia version once more details are known and preorders go up.

Am I the only person who's just fine with them just doing them digitally when they hopefully bring them over here? Especially if it pushes them into releasing them over here

Japanese Niche Games Thread: Cutting back on fanservice is censorship and bad!

Nintendo eShop Thread: A collection of three butchered ports of NES games for $40, sign me up!

Sorry, just experiencing a bit of culture shock.
I only have a few active series I follow and DQ is probably the only one I buy most everything including the spinoffs and remakes of for console/handheld physical releases. Not enough of these games get localized as is let alone re-released.

I’ve been tryin to figure that out myself. But i bought mine the last day *july 31) so i have almost a year until i can decide....by that time animal crossing will be out, but who knows man? There are a lot of great games, get Marvel ultimate alliances 3 black order honestly!

The free DLC for Celeste should be out today which adds 100 new levels and some new music.

Enjoy! I'd recommend playing in a padded room for your system/controller's safety.
Has anyone here tried Celeste using a gamecube controller? I've played it on xbox and I do not want that wear and tear for my Pro controller

edit:

Yes! There's a couple of threads on reddit saying the gamecube controller works well.

I'm sure this game has killed many a joy-con.

Yeesh, y'all making me second-guess myself now.  I like a challenge, but Pro controllers are expensive!

I thought I heard somewhere that Celeste is meant to be played with an analog stick, not a d-pad (despite being 2D), is that correct?

It doesn't really matter how you play it. They have assists if you need to make it easier, so it doesn't have to be super hard if you don't want that.

That totally makes sense that it would work, and thank you for suggesting it, as I'll give this a try! I played the entire game (except for the super hard bonus levels) using a Pro controller, but I'll try the new DLC with my Gamecube controller.

And for anyone that doesn't know, it's definitely better to play Celeste with an analog stick over a dpad. You need that pinpoint diagonal movement to survive the tougher sections.

I would highly recommend using the analog stick. I play most all platformers with D-Pad, but I this game doesn't really work like a traditional platformer. You are traveling mostly in angles and arches.

If you are worried about your sticks - you can always pick up a Hori D-pad joycon, if you play handheld, or a wired third party controller, if you play docked.

I've played the whole game twice using both the Pro Controller and handheld mode. My controllers survived just fine. I don't see why there would be an issue unless you are particularly rough with controllers. And as others have said, while you can play it with the d-pad, you'd be making things a lot harder for yourself.

The game is challenging but never in an unfair way. If you like platformers, it's one of the best out there.

I like to think I'm pretty gentle on my controllers. I've never been the throwing type. If it's rage that's causing all these controller issues, then I'm not concerned.

Thanks for clarifying on stick vs dpad. Using the stick is one of the reasons I wanted it on Switch over PS4, for the asymmetrical stick layout. Though if I can play Super Meat Boy on a keyboard, I can probably manage with whatever I've got lying around.

i'm sure this has been asked 1000 times so i apologize - is there any way for me to buy digital switch games through nintendo before i get a switch? i'm getting the switch lite in a couple weeks but want to lock in Celeste for $9.99. it's telling me i need to purchase through the Switch eShop, so i'm guessing i'm SOL, but wasn't sure if there was a workaround.

thanks!

Nope. Must have a switch on your account.
Should be able to buy the digital card/code from other people though.
Eshop you can’t. (Unless somethings changed recently)
