I’m pretty much SOL as far as getting Link’s Awakening before I leave tomorrow at 6am to NYC. Damnit it would be a great way to kill time on the bus. Went to a few places today just to see.
 
Gamestop - no midnight launches or 9pm launches anywhere at any Gamestops. They said Nintendo let them do it sometimes for games but just won’t let em for this one.
 
Microcenter - they don’t even know if they are going to have it in stock.
 
Target - went in and they didn’t have it on the shelf and didn’t see anyone to ask so just walked out.
 
Walmart - went in and they had it behind the glass case, but they had a piece of cardboard in front of the stack of cases with the wording “RELEASES 09/20/19” but I did notice that the price was $49.99. I noticed all Nintendo 1st party games were that price, and I had heard about that a while ago but website always showed $59.99. So I asked the guy at the register about it and he said that was the price, and I asked him about buying it and he said he tried to ring a few up for people and the computer wouldn’t let them, which is why they put that note in there. But I dunno, I had heard people buying Amiibo’s and stuff early at Walmart so I don’t know if he was just saying that or what.
 
I’m almost tempted to go to another Walmart but I was literally eating at the place next to that one for lunch so I stopped by, and the only other one near me is like 25 minutes away. I’m tempted to swing by Best Buy too just to ask about midnight launch since it’s not far from me.

Weird thing - None of the Walmart stores in my city are open at midnight. It's not even a small city, they just... close.

Meanwhile, the one out near my grandmother in the country stays open.

I actually did ask him about that, since they are open till midnight, and he said he doesn't see why it wouldn't work. He didn't confirm it would. But again that one is like 35 minutes from me. And yeah, getting home at like 12:45am and getting up at 5am would be super rough. Not sure if I wanna do that. It would be a rough tradeoff.

 
The Walmart POS will update at midnight central time and allow purchase for items locked behind “street date” in the system.

There were some people who were able to buy early from Walmart. The first few stores had them out before the POS had the street date restriction.
 
Yeah I’m ET so it seems risky to try at midnight without a guarantee. And I’m not a fan of digital games for full price either. I like to have control of my games if I can.

That song is so catchy! I got to 100% and immediately wanted to go back and start it all over again. It's one of those games that completely engrosses you and I've been desperate for similar games ever since.

Meh, never really was a fan of this series. Always found the art style a bit annoying and the baby Mario story never really did it for me.
 
Managed to grab Link's Awakening at Walmart for $50, so that was a nice discount for the game. I think Ni no Kuni remastered was something like $41.88, which should be $30 MSRP.

Yeah, I'm swinging by my local store shortly for some grocery items, and I may bite at that price. As I can't see getting it for less anytime soon unless some crazy BF deal happens, or it reaches a greatest hits lineup years from now. I don't have my Lite yet, but this is probably the only "N" retail game I want, so why not grab it for a slight discount.

 
Digital (voucher) unlocked at midnight last night. Spent way too much time playing it. I only played a tiny bit of the original when i borrowed the cart once, so pretty much all new to me.

Only bad thing is the frame rate dips that unfortunately are noticeable from time to time.. Hope there is a patch for it. It's not game breaking, but you do notice it.

And I hope the player made dungeon maps will be able to be downloaded online instead of only through physical amiibo's.

Yeah, I've seen the frame rate issue mentioned in each review so far, and everyone labels it the same as you. An annoyance, but nothing game breaking, and all hopeful a patch can improve said issue in time.

And I'm back from Walmart, and yes, all the new NS games seem priced at the $10 off, or something along those lines based on the retail price to start with. I went ahead and grabbed Link's Awakening, and I guess I'll see about grabbing Luigi's Mansion 3 at Walmart as well when that's released. I'm hoping to get my Lite by then, but no rush, as getting 1st party games cheap is a bigger priority than grabbing the unit at the moment. LOL

Finished the first two dungeons in Link's Awakening and the frame-rate drops are a significant issue for me. Really hope it gets patched. Otherwise it's a lot of fun.

Docked or handheld (or both)?

I got the Dreamer Edition in today from BB. Of course they shipped it in a bubble mailer and the game box came damaged ;_;

 
I haven't played handheld so I'm not sure if it has the stutters. But I played docked for about 2 hours and I noticed it immediately and almost constantly while in the overworld.

 
Speaking of frame drops, how the fuck are SNES games so laggy? I got to the Kraid fight in Super Metroid yesterday and the game turned into a fucking slideshow. ROMs shouldn't be this taxing on the damn hardware. 

 
Target has the Link Awakeing Amiibo for $13.....but I don think its worth it. It’s supposed to unlock a shadow link? Or something useless? Anyone know

Anyway, sadly I can confirm that the frame drops are just as prevalent in handheld mode.

 
Went to Walmart to get links Awakening for $10 off. It seems the clerk messed up my split payment between a gift card and debit and only charged me less than $11 for the game and the other two items I was buying. I want to go back and fix it so the cashier doesn't get introuble but Walmart is such a pain. Explaining what happened and how to fix it will take me forever.

Yeah, this is all over the web, and some people say it's not a big deal and others say it's pretty bad. It's for sure a thing, and something that shouldn't have happened in this day and age, but this is the "N" of the present and this is what you get, love it or hate it.

Well, I haven't played much of these SNES games, as I only really played Star Fox to show my son my skills, but 90% of SNES had slowdown. And if these are running by emulation, that means they are running 100% like they originally did, so the slowdown is normal. Try some Super Ghouls & Ghost if you really want to see a "crawl".

I used to think that game was actually going to freeze up, as the slowdown was that bad. But it was also a blessing, as that game is brutal and the slowdown helps a lot, and this wasn't the only game that benefited from slowdown either. It mostly happens when the screen is busy, and if the screen is busy, it means potential death, so the slowdown actually helps more than it hurts(Shmups Especially).

From what I could see of the initial introduction of the custom dungeon stuff, it's for passing those around to friends. I guess you also get some special chambers and a Dark Link to place in them, as well.

It seems to happen when there's a lot of grass around and that is all over the areas in the main town and to the east of it. That the grass areas respawn as soon as they ares back on screen so quickly only makes it more consistently obvious.

Oh well, if this is in fact the trend going forward it’s not great for us, but it’s still at least better than average for South America, in my experience. Price parity with the US is kind of a rare treat.

Welp, impulse-bought a Switch Lite yesterday after work and I'm back in Nintendo Land (figuratively, not the game). I felt like a kid again picking it up and unboxing it, I was hoping for a dedicated portable and I seriously love it. I'm finally playing Mario Odyssey and going to try to abstain from buying any other games until I'm done with it, but that will be hard with DQ11 coming out.

Any eShop exclusives I've missed that are sleeper hits?

A week of people taking advantage of Argentina pricing is nothing compared to the couple years of people taking advantage of Mexican prices. Ultimately people are paying for games which the publishers have chosen to price as they have. It shouldn’t hurt them to get more sales than they would have from people so cheap they would have waited for deeper discounts in their native region. Ultimately this does less harm than those that set their home address to be in a state where taxes aren’t collected on digital purchases. The only people cheated are the tax authorities.

On a positive, the people of Argentina got a tiny boost on their Eshop which should make it more convincing for developers to release games there.

Side note, I’ve never changed my region let alone registered accounts in other regions. That’s not to say I never will, I just buy games mostly physical so I haven’t had to. I doubt importing an Asia release is going to harm the market any more than people switching regions for digital games.

How is it possible that they have such lower prices, i just dont get it? I want to make another account like a sub account but i dont want to lose anything or get into issues with nintendo, if gamesharing rules are an issue....but man, never seen so much deviation in price

BTW Anyone played Link’s Awakening yet? I hear the frame rate is rough, and Frisky Had his live stream going, but i just wanted other peoples opinions on the game? I decided the amibo was a waste of money so i found out the links BOTW are cross compatible though which is cool

Any one love it? Like it ? Kinda dislike it?
