Holy crap, it finally happened. We've actually hit rock bottom.
I looked up a video for that Preventive Strike game and uh... I don't think I even want to spend a penny on it.

Edit: Here's the video I watched for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu-8hL4jBnA

I finds that with all the shovelware penny games, that when it's hard to find professional reviews, they are typically also on steam, and the user reviews can paint a decent picture of whether they are worth the time and pennies

Yeah for those type of games it's like but you can get 3 hours of entertainment maybe out of it and it only cost 20 cents or whatever. I could also just put those 3 hours to another game i'll enjoy more. The dillema of cheap and also bundled games. Have so many okay or less great games in my Steam library. I don't want that stuff polluting my console systems as well.

What’s the verdict on Luigi Manson? Must have or ehhhhhh

Ive always said, Frisky IS the only reason I come to this site. No one else does what he does, not even close.

Plus, most of you guys are alright, too - ugh - I guess lol jk.....seriously Frisky IS the only reason CAG is still worth a visit (sorry to all the other xbox and ps4 guys, but nothin like Frisky exists for them, nor should he, he’s representative of what a REAL Nintendo/video game fan is, and beyond that , Frisky IS the MOST DEDICATED CAG on this site.

Now, with all that ass kissing finished, what do you guys think of Luigi’s Manson? Must have, or semi good, or wait for Black Friday sale ?? (I paid $50 for it but I can return it)

...You do realize that the PSN deal thread is also run by Frisky, right?

I'm really enjoying it, but I loved the other two so I may be biased.

I planned to play with my son last night, but he never got the gooo guy, so I never got the chance to try it out. I did watch my son play for close to an hour, and it seemed kind of boring, but the game hasn't really got going yet, so time will tell. I should get a chance to try it this weekend, so I'll report back then.

As far as the first two games, I loved both, but for different reasons. The first game was amazing because of the variety of bosses, but was a little short, but still a great new IP, just not tons to do. Part 2 was for sure geared to the handheld market, and I loved how there was several different style mansions, and how it had so many hidden things to find and do and figure out, but the ghost variety was ASS(very repetitive)!

So my end hope is that part 3 takes the best of both, and get rid of what didn't work, and fine tune what did, for a great new game? Of course "N" is very hit and miss these days, as they can't even do Star Fox justice, so I'm keeping my expectations at bay.

-After hearing it get a few hearty recommendations here on CAG, I was disappointed by Coffee Crisis. Action felt unresponsive, and with a half-dozen enemy sprites piled on top of me, it was hard to tell if any of my hits, grabs or throws were connecting. Maybe it’s a better time in multiplayer, as brawlers often are?

Anyone else find any diamonds in the rough lately?
Ditto. Controls for coffee crisis are really clunky and it is really not at all satisfying to land a hit, which is critical for a brawler. Feedback you've taken damage is also poor and those random visual filters made the game unplayable.

I get the sense the enemy count is the same with 2 players, making the game much much different, but haven't had a chance to confirm. As a single player game, would not recommend.

Preventive Strike ($0.01 game) is not the worst thing I've played. I used to review XBLIG games so I've seen some things. The controls are slow and unresponsive, nearly impossible to avoid being hit as a result. Camera frequently jumps around when there is an explosion, doubly odd as the camera is static. Most of the time so much is happening on screen it just becomes noise. It is also surprisingly difficult. It plays like a game not play tested by anyone but the dev(s) who knew it all by heart. Fun experiment in what a penny will get you, not much more.

Highly recommend Super One More Jump, which frequently goes on sale. Just a really solid platformer mixed with endless runner that requires basically memorizing small but tough levels to get timing just right. Found myself slightly addicted to getting the levels just right. The customization options for the game are fun too. You can pick from a bunch of themes that change the look of the game but not gameplay, so if you don't like default art style? Change it. Neat feature.

Thank you Chris, your opinion is always extra valuable so I will wait for your approval, asI agree, it has been very very hit or miss this past year......

I havent tried the first two, and my son isnt with me at the moment who i bought it to play with, which is why i was like, pausing before opening it as it was

But i mean so far, its gotten decent feedback, and Tyler’s opinion is also extremely worth listening to, but again, both of you played the first 2, so i dont know what to expect or what to be excited/disappointed for, maybe a good thing

Sot ill wait for your review lol

So, just got a round with LM3, and it wasn't to bad, as there was for sure more going on than had been nearer to the start. Only really played one area, but it was a good amount of ghost battles, and some light puzzle solving. So for what I've played so far, I'm for sure looking forward to playing more, but I'm also not counting the seconds until that happens(not yet at least).

Lol, ok so if it dramatically takes a turn for the worse or the better please chime in, otherwise ill assume its a fairly decent game from what you and Tyler and Dave said....seems like its reflecting Close to the meta score at least (7-8/10).....now I was HOPING a IP. Luigi title that others were really looking forward to wouldve had a lot more hype and good reviews like a STRONG 8.5-9/10, but there is at LEAST a steady glow to the reviews....

I dont mind if anyone else wants to throw their 2 cents either !
Thx chris

It's another Luigi's Mansion game. It seems like a solid game. I played up to the first boss character. Not really my kind of game, but I had fun playing it. I got this game for my one son since he loves the series. If you enjoy the series you will like this one too I would expect.

Liking Luigi's Mansion 3 a lot so far as a Metroid-like with a short, clumsy hero that can't do much of anything without the Poltergust. It works out pretty well with the abilities you have to open up new areas and secret paths. The issue I have with it is the control scheme sucks when you have to hold down a face button and use the right stick to aim it instead of it being a toggle or there being custom-mapping to allow people to make it better to control. Other than that, it's been a lot of fun so far. I just always forget the jump move exists and wish there was an easier way to recall Gooigi.

I’ve been loving the game as well and I totally agree with the clunky controls. I’ve found that if you change the controls to lock the right thumb stick to horizontal only and increase the gyro sensitivity, you can just tilt the controller up or down and it makes it easier to turn around in combat. Also the shoulder buttons are much better to use than the face buttons.

Weegi's Mansion 3 is really pretty great.  I think it'll become one of the most underrated gems of the Switch's run.  It's the little things and its almost like controlling an animated Mario movie.  The amount of interaction with the environment, the subtle cues, Luigi's reactions to things, the lighting...all top notch.  Definitely worth your time and money.

Just in case you do not know, the R-button and L-button also use the flash light and plunger. If you hold both down it activates the rainbow light (sorry don't know the name).

I put in about 2 hours last night and enjoyed it though it is very slow paced. Towards the end of my time playing though I started to get into it more as I skipped more of the collectibles though my wife was pointing out everything I was running past. My biggest issue with the controls is that it seems like Luigi's aiming is on a swivel with snap back. It's kind of hard for me to describe but it causes me to be completely turned around quite often. I do not use the gyro controls which would be worse for me. I'm sure I'll get used to it more it's just off to me.

86 on Metacritic.
Oh is it really? Thank you for that......

Well based on what Ive read, its not necessarily a must have unless you are a Luigi Mansion fan, but its a solid game period, overall it seems....

Thing I kind of want to know is, I have no clue about the first two, and I’ve never played them....will a first time switch player like it? (I didnt really dig toad’s game, but I LOVE YOSHIs game), so spin off of Mario are sometimes AWESOME and sometimes mehhhhh

Do you think a first time Luigi Mansion series player would enjoy it? I know its a litte trite, but I’m just curious if anyone has an opinion in that regard?

But i just loaded it up now, and my son will probably enjoy it from what it sounds like, which is the most important of all!

thanks for the reviews and feedback guys

Use the shoulder buttons. They don't explain that they work in game, but they do.

You guys were right
It’s a solid 8.5, more likely a 9
I got up to the car part and that was almost 2 hrs give or take
Great game and very novel for Nintendo for my first time playin.

Originally it was a launch title for the Gamecube, which didn't sit well with most, as that was the first system in 2 generations that didn't launch with Mario. So while it's not a AAA title like 3D Mario or Zelda, it's a very good "B" level title like Punch-Out or Star Fox. As those games appeal to a niche market, but are very well received among those fans, myself included.

Looking at some of these Data East games. Any opinions on Gate of Doom, Wizard Fire, or Joe & Mac Returns?
Joe and Mac Returns is nothing like Caveman Ninja (the first game). It has more in common with single screen puzzle platformers like Bubble Bobble and Snow Bros. That may be good for you, or bad for you.

Play it... If you like it grab the first and 2nd. Yo my knowledge the 2nd kinda was meh. Either way I have both 1/2 on my 3ds. Kinda don't plan to get this one unless it's mega. Cheap... I'm too sucked into baldurs gate at the moment

How are you liking BG so far? I rolled my first charname last night and I have to say it's weird getting used to. It's also microscopic on handheld, which was the whole point of me buying it. Why they didn't implement touch controls, I'll never know either.

Holy crap, I forgot BG/BG2 were coming to Switch. BG2 is my GOAT so I will have to pick this up. I just did some googling and saw that there's a revamped control scheme that lets your left analog move the party around like a more modern RPG, which sounds great, except you won't get to hear "YOU MUST GATHER YOUR PARTY BEFORE VENTURING FORTH", which is sad.

What about “Go for the eyes, Boo!”? If no go for the eyes, no can do :whistle2:(

Gate of Doom maybe fun with co-op, but sucks solo.
I wondered if that might be the case. Thanks for the heads up, I'll probably skip for now.

That was definitely the impression that I got. I like Bubble Bobble and Snow Bros, but I'm starting to think that my time might just be better spent with those games instead (if they would ever effing re-release Snow Bros!).

The lack of touch controls are especially confusing since these games have been ported to iOS and Android years ago (though I’m assuming these Switch versions are ports of the PC versions).

How often are there digital deals on Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, etc?
Not very often

https://www.dekudeals.com/items/mario-kart-8-deluxe

5 times in a year it's been on sale. Lowest being $39.99 (filter to only see digital below the graph)

https://www.dekudeals.com/items/super-mario-odyssey

Been on sale more often than Mario Kart, but most times the better deal is digitally through Target or Bestbuy etc.

Code works on the eShop and you get full gold coins instead of marked down sale price coins

Yeah, after playing these games multiple times a year since the year they came out, it's strange not being able to easily flick through menus as fast as I'm accustomed to. I'm nervous that controlling all 6 characters is going to be a pain once BG2 really gets going.

Can sometime be kind enough to send me a link to the post or anywhere online about this region switching to get lower prices? I haven't been on this thread for a while and I'm quite lost. Thanks

Has anyone tried to attack on Titan 2 for the switch?

Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
There used to be a demo for it but I can't find it anymore, actually can't find it on any platform anymore. But regardless I played the demo for the Switch version and it ran like complete garbage to put it bluntly. There are some very bare bones frame rate tests on youtube and on those it seems to run at about half the frame rate the base PS4 version does much of the time, hovering around 20 fps (versus 40 on PS4.) It also looks noticeably worse and iirc there was less view distance on Titans which was annoying to deal with.

Really though the frame rate is what killed it for me, the whole game is built around speed since you can zip across an entire map in a matter of seconds and that felt really bad on Switch. Now to be fair the demo is only one map, but, that map is one of the more open and empty ones so I would actually expect it to be one of the better running ones. The more cramped city maps have tons of buildings that are constantly be destroyed and creating tons of debris/particle effects flying everywhere.

Basically from my demo experience I would not recommend that version of the game unless it's your only option.
