It might be a long time before one of those will even go on sale again, so it’d be a good idea to buy the codes now and redeem when you receive your system.

The digital versions are an option for sure. I'm picking up my Switch Lite on Tuesday from Gamestop. Hopefully they're still on sale then. I picked up an individual 12 month Switch Online sub code from Target during BF.

Can anyone sway me either way, like which one is better/worth playing?

I know one is FPS and other is Fighter, but looking for good online/co op play, and i wanna know if OVERWATCH is good

This. I have both and Odyssey is a masterpiece whereas Yoshi is just adorable and enjoyable, but quite playing-it-safe as far as game design goes. Odyssey is just wonderful.

You can buy the codes from amazon now, and if you buy a code from somewhere else (not from Nintendo) you get the full gold coin value when redeemed not the discounted coins from Nintendo.

I don't think I've ever bought a digital only game for the Switch.

If I buy something from Nintendo's shop online (specifically Katamari Damacy Reroll) for my kids for Christmas, would there be some sort of notification that they would get?

On the PS4, a game would be in the purchased section as long as I don't download it.  I don't think they know that they can look there.

Is it similar on the Switch or will it appear in the main screen somewhere obvious?

It starts downloading and drops the game icon at the top of the menu as soon as the Switch connects to the internet, even if you don’t have the space.

Your best option would be to grab the system when you buy the games and delete the icons as soon as they appear.

Edit: That said, you will have to manually redownload the games later.

Purchases made from the Nintendo Online store automatically download to the primary system on the ID for that platform.

If you guys want a cheap Overwatch, Cdkeys is selling the EU digital code for $16.86.
Just change your Nintendo account country to any EU country to redeem the code then switch back to the origin country after you redeem the code.

Yes! I 100% recommend it to fishing fans. It's definitely an arcade fishing setup, so you don't have to overthink your gear or spend hours slogging through menus. Just select the appropriate tackle that allows you to catch the fish you're aiming for, and unlock new rods to make them progressively easier to reel in. There are no tournaments, no leader-boards, and no real story. Your goal is to just catch all the fish in your fish book. The biggest advantage it has over other fishing games is that you can catch 182 fish! Other fishing games on the switch have only around 25.

The game is beautiful and the fish are super detailed and true to their real life counterparts. The simple controls make it accessible to kids while the Epic and Legendary fish will require careful skill to reel in. Even I spent days and days trying to catch specific ones. It retails for $30 but has been, and is currently, $17.99. A physical version was released in November for the same price.

I've previously posted an overly detailed review of the game so I'll leave it here if you want to take a look.
Fishing Star came out today. I've spent a couple of hours with it. The graphics are crisp. The water effects are impressive, and the atmosphere and music are all very inviting. The fact that it has over 180 fish to catch blows all other Switch fishing games out of the water. Yeah, the $30 price is steep but you're getting hours and hours of content. Especially if you intend to collect all the gear, and catch and 4-star every fish. You can even play a special mini-game with the Labo fishing rod.

If you're into fishing games it's a no-brainer purchase, but if you're just kind of interested in these games you may be better off waiting for a sale.

Here are my first impressions:

The game keeps you very engaged throughout the catch process. You first need to manipulate the lure to entice the fish. Then once it bites you pull up on the rod to land the hook. After that, you need to angle the rod depending on which way the fish is pulling and be careful that you don't reel in at the wrong times (there's a meter at the top of the screen). As it gets closer you might enter a small mini-game where it will have you immediately position the rod at a certain angle, or a circle will appear in the water and you need to pull up on the rod at the right time to get the fish closer to you.

Sounds complicated, but once you get the mechanics down it becomes second-nature and you end up feeling like you've really battled with the fish and earned your catch.

Using the joy cons to mimic a real fishing rod is great (motion controls are accurate), but if you just want to relax you can use a Pro or joy-con grip controller to have joystick controls.

I do have some gripes though, only because I feel like a few little tweaks could have made the game great. There is no way to tell what fish you're catching before you reel it in. This is a big one for me. In Fishing Resort if you were looking for a stingray you could scare away the spiky and tiny looking fish and only cast towards the disk shaped shadows. This game just has large and medium identical shaped shadows. You could reel in a torpedo-shaped fish and then the catch screen will pop up and tell you you've just caught a starfish... I really feel like they could have made the fish look like actual fish while they're in the water. Especially since the scenery is so nicely detailed. It takes you back a little to keep reeling in the same generic shadow every time.

There is a fish book, but you will mostly see your fish on the catch screen, and they're very pretty and detailed (my favorite part of the game). From what I can tell, they're true to their real life counterparts. But I do wish I could twirl them around on the catch screen to see them better. You're stuck watching them dangle upright and wiggle around for a bit. It lets you take pictures, and there's even a cool effect of water droplets falling off of them.

Lastly, there are a lot glaring grammatical errors ("This is a fish that has never been catched before"). I hope they can fix them in future updates because they're a bit hard to overlook.

Despite the price, I'm very pleased with this game. It's exactly what I've been looking for and I hope you guys will give it a chance.

I have now caught all 182 fish.

Total time was 30 hours, but that time is misleading because I was around 20 hours in when I caught #181 :lol:

That last fish was a doozie! I spent days fishing for it. It wasn't even a matter of finding it because the special fish will only spawn in one spot and you can use lures that will only attract what you're aiming for. I crafted the best setup for it and still spent hours losing it over and over. I would give up for the day and return the next only to fail again. I was beginning to think the game was glitched and this fish was somehow uncatchable. For the epic and legendary fish it punishes you severely for any little mistake. I'm actually thankful they threw in some insanely hard to catch fish. It adds a decent amount of challenge to the game.

Finally, (and probably only because it was a 1 star rank) I managed to land it. My prize for catching all the fishes, as the game likes to say, was a better rod that let me go back and catch the stupid fish on the first try :twoguns: .

Now the next goal is to get a 4 star rank on every fish. There's one more unlockable for doing that so I have to go for it. At least with the end game rods you can pretty much strong-arm the fish to the shore.

A little note on the 182 fish:
There are a lot of different fish but you will get some repeats. Like you can catch a green frog, then a red one, then blue. You can also pull up jewelry and boots. Each one counts as a different fish. And the Legendary fish are usually just colored up versions of a normal one. It's still pretty cool to catch a pink Whale Shark or a super shiny metallic fish. I like this game a lot and hope it goes on sale soon so more people will try it out.

Doesn't help right now, but in March next year Two Point Hospital gets released for Switch. Thinking about picking it up for my wife.

Yeah, I had been following that one since they announced a console port and actually put down a pre-order for it. Problem is, I played a few hours on a Steam free weekend and I think pretty much played it. If you look up long-term reviews of the game, they'll all say that Two Point Hospital is repetitive and the same gameplay loop with no variation after two hours or so. I think I'll have to cancel my pre-order.

I have it on PS4 and it’s a great game. Not sure how well it runs on switch. It’s an action rpg, you always have a party of three that you can swap control of to use their specific weapon type (pierce, slash, crush) that you can match to an enemy type. Has an interesting story where you are shipwrecked on an island and have to explore to find a way off, plus discover why weird stuff is going down on the island. Yadda, yadda, yadda JRPG stuff.
 
PSA: eShop cards are 15% off at Dollar General until 12/7 (as well as PSN & a few other select gift cards).

Hadn’t seen it mentioned here yet, so I apologize if this info is redundant, but I thought folks in this thread might appreciate the heads-up. I usually stock up on eShop credit from Raise.com, but they haven’t had a deal as good as this in some time.

Only saw $20 denominations, and limit 1 per customer. But I was able to stop at a couple locations on my way home today. Just in time to grab a few more games from the sale before it ends ;)
 
I was wondering if Dollar General would be doing that anytime soon.  I remember seeing it in the past.  I'm tempted, but alas, I only need a $10 eShop card and it sounds like they won't have it.  Not sure it's worth the $1.50 to go that far out of my way anyway.

In any case, glad to hear that this still happens on occasion.

 
How scratched are the contact pins on your Switch cartridges? Any issues with reading your scratched cartridges, if any?


I'm supposed to be 100% digital, but I couldn't resist some of these BF sales. I bought some used Switch games from GameStop and I've never seen this before, but there are vertical scratches going straight down all of the contact pins for my cartridges. I know this was relatively common with DS and 3DS cartridges, so I'm hoping Switch games are just as indestructible.

Plus a couple of physical releases I'm bought during black Friday/cyber Monday -Hellmut, Gualamelee Collection and Raiden V. I think I'm golden for a while.

I've been really enjoying Children of Morta and Valfaris. Both of these games run excellent on switch and are a ton of fun. Puzzle Quest is great too. Nice game to relax and play at the end of a long day.

I really wanna pull the trigger on Disgaea 1 complete but I just got Fire Emblem and Wargroove.

Laharl is just gonna have to wait a little longer before I wake him up again 🤷‍♂️
