Not to question you, but have you actually played Perseverance? I only ask because people look at these mobile-quality games and assume that they're crap, but sometimes, they aren't. Also, I figure that they can be deleted if they suck, so claiming them isn't a bad idea.

For instance, I own over 1300 games on Steam. Most of them were bought in bundles, but it doesn't mean that they suck because they are indies or mobile ports.

I agree with that statement. And I wasn't challenging you by asking the question. I think that there are so many games out to play for the Switch now that it's hard to discern what is actually fun versus what can be purchased cheaply.

I don't have any experience with it, but going by what I remember when it released on Switch, that version was nearly unplayable due to performance. I think it's been patched since, but I don't know to what extent. Be sure to research on reddit, etc, before dropping the money. I got this game for free via Epic Games Store, but haven't bothered to give it a try yet. From what I've heard, people generally like it, and I believe it has a lot of content, so you wouldn't be disappointed in that regard.

Edit: I did not get it free off Epic Games Store, it was Game Pass on PC where I have it for "Free". My main problem with having all these new game storefronts is remembering where I own these libraries of dang games. GOG Galaxy launcher helps, but still doesn't cover everything (like no Twitch/Amazon Games integration yet).

So the Wonderful 101 Kickstarter now has dual digital and physical bundles (1 switch, 1 PS4 copy) already backed at the physical copy level, tempting to get both.. but since we know there will be a physical release (with different cover art) later, I may just grab the PS4 copy cheaper down the road.
Then again a 2nd copy for PS4 would only be $30 more than the $47 (with shipping) for just the switch.

And almost at 1.5million raised.

I've only ever backed 2 KS... Shenmue 3 (ps4 physical) & MuvLuv (Vita physical w/bonus digital copy). Both turned out good experience other than the massively long wait. I passed on it so many times for the WiiU version and have so much on the Switch to play now, I'm not sure I even really care enough for W101 to get it. Glad others are hyped for it.

I hate big name devs who use Kickstarter so much. Platinum already has Tencent’s money backing them, they don’t need an extra $1.5M for anything.

Bubble Cats Rescue also shows up free for me (I bought Adrenaline Rush - Miami Drive when it was super cheap). So was able to snag that, Perseverance and Pet Shop Snacks for free. All look terrible but easy enough to delete a bad game.

 
Logged into play Ring Fit today and was really excited to see Animal Crossing available for purchase with a voucher. Kind of bummed to have used up all 4 of the vouchers I bought but AC was the perfect game to finish with. Looks lovely to see it listed with all my other games now.

Bubble Cats Rescue is a Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move clone. Decent enough for free. I paid for it, and I wasn't wowed, but I wasn't disappointed either.

 
i’ve never actually played an animal crossing, not sure why tbh.

My question to you all is, how big of a deal would it be to lose your save and have to start over?

I ask b/c the save is apparently tied to the console you create it on and cannot be transferred...means no upgrading to switch pro, new model, etc.

For example, if I lost my BOTW save then I probably would never play that again since starting over would be terrible.

It's probably the biggest deal game to lose a save on when it comes to Nintendo. I know people who couldn't figure out the 3ds transfer save process, so they kept their old 3ds just for animal crossing new leaf, and played everything else on their new 3ds xl.

I thought it was going to have Nintendo Switch Online save backup though. Maybe you could buy a month of that just prior to switching consoles.

It isn’t eligible for Switch Online cloud saves...this worked great when I upgraded to the better battery life switch model :(
 
I'm not buying AC myself, but I do find the whole save issue kinda odd. But it seems Nintendo is listening and going to change the way it saves due to the fanbase not being happy.

It would suck to start over. The game is a long-term grind for items, money, and building up the town. The longer you play the better.

It's dumb that they won't let you transfer saves to a new console. I guess the best thing to do is plan ahead when you're going to upgrade consoles and transfer your items and money to a friend's game and then transfer back to the new console. You would still lose town progress, but at least you could keep your money and items/recreate your catalog.

The only AC that let you have more than one town was the original GC ver (and I think that involved some memory card trickery). Family/friends can live in the same town as you, so I don't see that as a problem. Even better, for the first time in AC games they can actually co-op play with you on the same console. They've always had multiple players per town, but you couldn't play at the same time before.

I've played every AC since the original. The best way to understand it is to watch some let's plays. In short, you are a human who has just moved to a town of talking animals. You start your new life with nothing more than a tent. You earn money fishing, catching bugs, and finding items to sell. That money is used to make your house bigger and buy items. You can interact with your animal neighbors, make friends, and perform the occasional task for them. If there is an end goal, it would be to upgrade to the biggest house, furnish it with your favorite stuff, and have the town look the way you want. The reality, though, is that there is no goal. It's simply a relaxing, charming grind of a super simple slice of life simulator. You do not have to eat, sleep, or manage energy like you would in a game like Harvest Moon. You can play as little or as much as you like per day. You can take breaks for months and come back to continue where you left off (although your town keeps going while you're gone, so some of your neighbors may change during your break). There are some goals in the game like collecting fossils, fish, insects, and artwork to fill the public museum, but you can entirely ignore those and just chill.

While it's still definitely dumb that the game only allows one island per console, that last part isn't true. The second person can also create a character and live on the same island with you with their own tent/house. Up to 8 human players can create characters per island. So you only would be absolutely required to buy another switch if you have 9 people or more wanting to play.

But seriously, I'm not sure what a kid could mess up. Players can't affect each other's houses. At most, they could cut down all trees and destroy all flowers. Just replant after delivering that promised backhand.

AC is a good game for kids, especially the way it promotes reading (everything is text, no voiced dialogue) and how to budget (saving for a bigger house vs buying new furniture, and making sure to continue working to earn money). We got a 2DS and ACNL for my nephew over a year ago, and he still plays some almost every day. It's been a great experience for him. My brother plays some too to help him out while waiting in the after school car line. They have the biggest house now with lots of cool rooms.

The website for AC states now that you will have some type of ability to back up your save.

Pokémon Let’s Go and Sword/Shield are also not supported by cloud saves. I played Let’s Go on the original Switch, and then upgraded to the revised version, but somehow I still have my Let’s Go save. The only thing I can think of is that it was on my memory card.
 
Pokemon allows a save data transfer when two consoles are close to one another. Data is removed from the original console completely. I played Shield between my original and Lite like that until it became a pain. Then I just finished the game on the Lite. It's a great option to have though.
 
I've been out of the loop on console deals lately. Anybody know if there is a sale somewhere? I have a co-worker buying a switch, I've guided him through game and accessory deals but can't find anything on console.
 
I'm honestly at the crossroads of wanting the new AC but also knowing that I wouldn't play it. The entire game becomes boring once you've played every iteration since Gamecube, and it has no real narrative and is largely purposeless. My only attraction to the game was donating to the museum, and that's RNG and has you playing for at least a year. Essentially, each new AC game is like losing your save file and having to start over.

What's the amiibo support like?

 
I'm still going to play it. It's a casual game anyways. The 3DS version was done pretty well, so I hope this one is at least as fun for the 3-6 months I'll play for.
