Yea, I saw that and checked the eshop. Just wanted the be very sure. Target needs to change it. It's very misleading.
Yeah they had one for star was jedi fallen order for $10 the other day and it was the deluxe dlc, but it was equally as misleading and looked like the full game

I’ve been a lapsed Nintendo fan for a long, long time, but I’ve just recently purchased a Wii U and 3DS so I can start from the beginning and play through Nintendo’s biggest franchises with my kids.

Am I correct in saying that Nintendo basically NEVER puts Wii U or 3DS virtual console games on sale?
I'd say outside of the random Capcom or indie sales, they're slim to none since Switch is now the king. I play my 3DS almost daily during lunchtime, and I recently charged up the Wii U gamepad to get back to some of those games, so I feel your pain.

If you don't hate GameStop, the recent buy 4 used games for $10 or the buy 4 used games for $20 sales have been a goldmine for me for finding cheap Wii U games. I recently picked up Lego City Undercover for $2.50 as a part of a batch of buy 4 for $10.

Heads up CAGS, Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection for Nintendo Switch seems to have completely dried up from all of my local stores. GameStop, Target, Walmart, Amazon. All Out Of Stock at the moment. Maybe retailers will receive more copies soon tho for all I know, but I figured I’d mention it incase any CAGs still wanted to pick it up & have an available Nintendo Switch copy to purchase in their area.

That’s surprising, to me anyway. I don’t think the first, or second Legacy collections had this issue. I always saw these in stores for purchase not too long ago, for all console platforms.

Doesn’t bother me too much, personally, as I planned on buying this one digitally the moment it was announced, just like the other two collections. Just waiting for that inevitable Capcom sale.

Also, like the other two collections, there’s no inner artwork, manuals, or anything like that. Aside from owning the physical cartridge, the physical release is barebones, and nothing special, imo.

I actually bought the last PS4 copy at my local Walmart. I assume it's probably just a lower print run, the Zero games don't really have nostalgia like the original or the X series imo and probably won't sell as well.

Gotta say as someone who has never played the Zero games before I really enjoyed the first one. Have to get used to not having much screen space since it's a GBA port so sprites are freaking massive, and the grinding aspect of the game seemed poorly thought out (but also not necessary to beat the game so I don't mind), but the actual gameplay itself was super fun, especially the boss fights. Really enjoyed every single one of them.

The main series of Mega Man has been ported countless times already, but Zero and ZX haven't. They're also some of the best MM games out there. Not surprising to me, as someone who had to hunt for years for the Zero Collection on DS.

I bought the Ace Attorney Trilogy. This will be my first time playing the series. Watched some reviews and it looked intriguing plus it's only $15.

I have had a Wii U since it launched. Such a great system. I pretty much bought everything when it was released so I did not save much on most of the Nintendo titles. Lego City Undercover is great, but has horrendous load times on the Wii U.

The loading times didn't bother me that much, but the forced Gamepad stuff did since my Gamepad touchscreen is slowly going dead, and it doesn't support the Pro Controller at all. I'll try it out on Xbox One someday when it gets a really deep discount.

There's no mulitplayer on the WiiU version, either. My kid and I beat it on the Xbone. It crashed a bunch, but... Lego games always do.

Oh hey, the web-based eShop got updated. Looks like having the Purchase button appear is no longer a total crapshoot, so that’s great.

I actually bought several Wii, Wii U, and 3DS games during Gamestop’s B2G2 Tax Day sale that ended last week (I am actually waiting on another copy of Super Mario Maker to arrive since the first one I ordered didn’t work in my Wii U), so I don’t completely hate them! Since Nintendo games hold their value to such an extreme degree, sales like that allow me to get 5-15 year old Nintendo games I missed out on at great prices!

Was hoping to get the bundle for Mario Maker 2 + NSO membership on the eShop but apparently that's no longer a thing except physical. Would've been good at $49.99.

Omega Labyrinth Life is on sale for $39.59... anyone actually play this?
Own a physical copy. Kind of repetitive honestly. The rubbing/poking powering up abilities mini game is extremely repetitive and suggestive. Honestly the story is pretty weak, gameplay decent but not exciting, and mini games slow down things a lot. It's not the worst, but I'd think around $15 may be a good price for it. Just very average and at times below average.

If you buy a new Switch digital game Trancelation at launch on March 13th, you get four other Switch digital games for free - 2048 Battles, Flowlines VS, Freecell Solitaire Deluxe, and Pizza Bar Tycoon.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/03/get_four_nintendo_switch_games_for_free_when_you_buy_trancelation_at_launch

Again, I can't attest to the quality of these games, but free is free.

Also, the game Real Drift Racing is inexplicably showing up as free for me right now.
Freecell Solitaire Deluxe I got free with a few other games recently for spending a few cents on something else by this dev. I actually play it fairly regularly when I need a chill game of Freecell and I just use the touch controls. Can't attest to the quality of other games by this dev, but this one does the simple game of Freecell pretty well. The only hiccup is if you have everything unstacked the option to auto play the cards doesn't show up if anything is in one of the free cells. Still, the overall game is pretty flawless with a lot of music, deck designs, and backgrounds to unlock and some in game achievements.

Another frankly insane sale appeared on the JP eShop. Level 5 has discounted most of its Switch catalogue down to ¥1000 ($10-ish), which are crazypants prices for JP retail games.

These are all seemingly only in Japanese, though, so keep that in mind.

So I think I understand this right, but just want some feedback. I’m picking up the new AC switch tomorrow for my wife. I own a physical copy of BOTW that my wife has sunk 190hrs into. I own the DLC on my account. When I transfer her profile to her new switch, I would need to add my account to download the DLC for her to use? Then she would just need to be online to use the DLC. Does that sound correct? Thanks for any replies.

Technically, for her to use the DLC on her Switch, her console would need your account to be primary on that system. This actually also means she doesn't need to be online.

I'll get 3DS and Wii U in a bit.

I see with the change to the webstore that they have removed special editions from the game's page, so I have to go to the eShop to see if they're on sale and at what price. They still haven't added end dates to the game's page on the webstore. DLC entries take up a bunch more space, so it takes longer to check on that part of the page.

The loading times didn't bother me that much, but the forced Gamepad stuff did since my Gamepad touchscreen is slowly going dead, and it doesn't support the Pro Controller at all. I'll try it out on Xbox One someday when it gets a really deep discount.
Never was a big fan of the Gamepad control specific games except for party games like Nintendoland .

I did not realize the Wii U gamepads go bad over time. Mine still functions like brand new.

Omega Labyrinth Life is on sale for $39.59... anyone actually play this?
It's a mystery dungeon game with extra stuff thrown in to keep you busy. Also, boobs. If you like mystery dungeon games, you should enjoy it. If you don't know mystery dungeon games, it would depend how much you enjoy boobs.

The pokemon mystery dungeon game would probably be a better starting point if you really have never played that style of game but good luck waiting on a comparable sale for that. Also, no pokeboobs.

I think I wore mine out, and Nintendo doesn't service Wii U systems anymore.
I always wondered why Nintendo did not sell the game tablets separately. If your tablet breaks you can't modify system settings. I guess you can buy a second Wii U just for the tablet.

Someday, I will if I can find one for cheap. GameStop is charging $129.99 for used Wii U systems at this point since they are becoming harder to find in the wild, but I honestly don't play it that much, so that's a bit too steep for me right now.

I rarely play the Wii U myself anymore. I do worry about the tablet not working now that you brought it up. I have a lot of games for the Wii U. It would suck if I could not play it anymore because the tablet breaks.

Here is my Wii U collection:

Yeah, my son barely uses his Wii U anymore, especially since most games worth a damn he now has on his NS. I bought a refurbished white 32gb model form "N" online before they closed out the last of what they had($200 or less was my buy-in), and it's pretty much a backup for my son at this point. As it was worth the buy for the extra tablet alone, since those are hard to get, at least in proper condition.

Sadly, the tablet controller was the selling point, gimmick and albatross all rolled in to one, as this wasn't very well thought out at all. They made a device, that once starts to have issues, is pretty much useless, since you need it to access the console itself. But since "N" always knows best, you now have situations like the one described above were there is no easy fix. The bulk of the systems cost came from the tablet, and once it's no good, now the console is dead with it. All because these clowns refused to allow for just a standard controller to be used, as heaven forbid someone doesn't want to use that big janky a$$ controller(or pay the premium to own it).

So the fans who actually helped to sell the few units they did, got a gimped BotW so the NS could do well at launch(vs. what was originally intended), and got very few games that made any beneficial use for the tablet whatsoever. All the tablet did was insure the hardware was generations old, as a way to make the extra cost manageable, to only barely use it. All so they could gimmick their way to another 100+ million console sells with the name "Wii". This was my wake up call, especially after having the Wii, which was my most least used "N" console or handheld EVER as I could not stand the forced motion controls. And once this happened, I saw the Wii U as a device with little invention, and nothing more than a name to sell it to their new casual gamers market(that was already gone before the U hit shelves).

I don't get the negativity towards the WiiU pad. Asymmetric game play (one player seeing a different thing on their screen vs what everyone sees on the TV) is still something that no other console is doing. The games that do that well are really amazing (mostly Nintendo Land, sadly).

Sure, the tablet is chunky but the WiiU *IS* old and when it was made it was pretty impressive. It also feels good in the hands in my opinion.

Sure the game pad is expensive to replace but compare the price to a used/second hand WiiU Pro game pad or a switch pro gamepad and you'll realize what a value that thing really is.

I'm definitely not saying anything negative about the Wii U or the Gamepad other than that it eventually won't work if the Gamepad doesn't allow you to operate the system. Nintendo should have agreed to continue repairing the systems for a few more years, but it's possible that they don't even make the parts for it anymore. There are several games whose game mechanics require the Gamepad. Will I be turning it on in 20 years like I still do with my Sega Dreamcast? Who's to say? More than likely not if it won't allow me to boot into the start-up menu.

In other news, today is my birthday. Since I can't go out because of the national emergency, I bought myself a $50 eShop card and bought The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth for the Switch for $29.99 while it was still on sale. Also, this is the most that I've spent on a single Switch game digital or physical since I bought the system. But I know The Binding of Isaac is one of those roguelikes that you can play infinitely.

Biggest gripe I have with the WiiU is the lack of games... I bought mine from gamestop after I bought my switch.
Half the games I’d ever want to play are on the switch now. The others keep getting rumored to be coming. Almost bought wonderful 101, now I have it coming on switch

Like the Pikmin series keeps being rumored... I’d buy day 1 if they did. I do have pikmin 3 though.

I only have Xenoblade, now coming to switch, and now drawing a blank on the other 4 games I have.. but I have a bunch of demos..

Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U isn't the one coming to switch, it's the original Wii Xenoblade Chronicles that's coming to switch. But I agree most of the Wii u's library is on switch now. I'd love to have twilight princess and wind waker, as well as the Pikmin games.

Ah, I didn't think you were being nearly as negative as the other poster :)

I have an extra WiiU pad I'd be happy to sell to you (specifically) for a fair price, but with this bizarre "home arrest" stuff I don't think I'm eager to head to the post office and I doubt you're eager to receive a package from a guy in a town that has confirmed cases :whistle2:(

Speaking of: Happy Birthday. It completely sucks that this is coinciding with your birthday. I suppose worse would be actually being in the hospital right now for a baby to be born today. Pretty sure no one wants to be in a hospital right now unless it's absolutely necessary.

Enjoy your games. I think the eShop is going to see a lot of purchases in the next two weeks.

Yep, screwed that part up about Xenoblade.
Wind waker! That’s one of the games I have.

If they would port the two Zelda HD games, Mario 3D World, Xenoblade X and Mario Color Splash I’d sell all of the Wii U games I still have, and never be the tiniest bit disappointed. Nearly every other big game, that hasn’t been ported over, got pretty much a straight up better sequel making the first obsolete. The Switch releases of Smash Brothers, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Mario Tennis, and Mario Party are just better than the Wii U versions. I’m leaving out some others like Pikmin 3, Kirby Rainbow Curse (this one would be tough to port) and Yoshi’s Wooly World (although this got a 3DS port and Crafted World fills the void), but I’d likely keep the system just for Skylanders, as my daughter and I bought all the games on Wii U. I’d hook it up in her room, and probably leave it there till I decided to finally mod it someday. I already modded my original Wii, and other than having HDMI out, I just couldn’t motivate myself to do the same to the Wii U since the library of games for it was so small, I just decided owning the discs was cheaper than getting an external HDD for Wii U games. The system’s power over the original Wii doesn’t really provide anything new emulation wise, so HDMI out is the big advantage over just modding the OG Wii.

Mario 3D World is amazing and I prefer it over Odyssey, tbh.

I think that Nintendo has conceded that the WiiU was a flop and feels that since so few people owned it, they can rerelease the biggest hits from its library and still find those games have a _new_ audience.

Since I still have a WiiU, I don't really care of they remake those games for switch or not, but If they'd revisit/remake NintendoLand with local/network multiplayer across separate switches (I can't be the only one who owns a Lite and a real Switch), I'd be ecstatic.

Thanks, walletandgromice. You're another long-time CAG like I am, but I'm not buying any used gaming items from any person or retailer until after all this Coronavirus stuff has been resolved.

I probably would have ventured into GameStop yesterday, gritted my teeth, and listened to their impassioned suggestive sales pitches while leafing through the used games shelf on my birthday like I do every year, but I'm not willing to take a chance on that either. Digital purchases are a wonderful thing though.

In any case, I actually got a chance to attack the backlog yesterday instead of buying up a bunch of new stuff. The Switch didn't get played much except a quick game of Caveblazers in order to post to the daily leaderboard. I spent most of the afternoon playing Riverbond on my Xbox One through Game Pass to unlock achievements and Spelunky on my PC. It's funny how a crisis like this that forces you to see how many games you already own that need to be or could be played. Like we always say, I could stop buying games and be good for the next 20 years.

And between Frisky's posts and Deku Deals, I've got my eye on some good (cheap) stuff on sale - Anodyne, Enter the Gungeon, Pixel Gladiator, Selma and the Wisp, Submerged, Super Toy Cars, and Tactical Mind 2 on Switch and Witch and Hero 2 and Xeodrifter on 3DS. :bouncy:

I’ve been a lapsed Nintendo fan for a long, long time, but I’ve just recently purchased a Wii U and 3DS so I can start from the beginning and play through Nintendo’s biggest franchises with my kids.

Am I correct in saying that Nintendo basically NEVER puts Wii U or 3DS virtual console games on sale?
I know you asked about Nintendo's first-party games, but if you own both systems and are looking for cross-buy third-party games to play on both systems, I found a list of them.

Dragon Fantasy

Mutant Mudds: Super Challenge (on sale right now)

Olli Olli

Woah Dave

Xeodrifter (on sale right now, must purchase the 3DS version to get the discount)

Just my two thoughts on Enter the Gungeon Switch, but I have a heck of a hard time controlling the shooting in the game. Maybe i'm not used to Switch controls that much, but it gets me for precision. One of those games I enjoy a lot on PC, but likely not on consoles. Something like Nuclear throne I would consider in that too.
