My kid really really liked how inappropriate it was but it's a fine line between being the cool dad and feeling totally irresponsible.

I thought the load times were a bit long. I also was annoyed that there's a bug in co-op mode that you cannot select new characters after a round ends (certain inputs blank out the GUI, it's obviously a bug), but you can work around it if you're willing to go back to the respawn level at the cost of a little more load time.

$5 this game would be a no brainier. I think it's worth $10 pretty easily too. If you've got little ones that you plan to play with, watch a video first. I'll probably play it on my own at night on my Lite ...if I can ever pull myself out of BoTW..

EDIT: we played more today. In settings you can disable Blood & Gore as well as friendly fire. Trying to be much more careful about combat is possible. My opinion has improved dramatically.

Streets of Rogue is one of my favorite games of 2020. It's definitely worth $10, but I can't see myself playing it with a young person. Turning off the bad stuff kind of defeats the purpose of playing the game, but I will take your word for it.

The challenge is he really wants to play the game (probably because it's so inappropriate), so I had to do something. Turning off the gore helped make me feel better about it, but I agree that the game is obviously missing a large chunk of it's character and it's really not the right way to play the game.

It's on me for not watching a video but again: how did this game get rated E10? There's a head explosion not two minutes into the game for goodness sake.

You're right. On the Steam store, it's also rated E10. Back in my day, heads exploding was "Mortal Kombat" territory. How far we've come.

Wait, is this normal? It's E10 on Steam (and PSN) but T on the eShop? Are they different versions of the game or something? Or maybe the rating changed and someone didn't update the game's store page?

I have a lot of work to do today, so of course I decided to spend time looking into this instead:

Looks like there's a different rating process for digital only games (a developer answers a questionnaire) vs physical releases (the game gets reviewed)

https://www.esrb.org/ratings/ratings-process/

My guess is that there's a physical copy of the Switch version but no physical copy of the others, so s different rating process produced two different ratings for the same game...

I can confirm that this is true. If a game does not have to reside on store shelves, they do not even need an ESRB rating (I'm assuming it's the same for the European PEGI market). This is why limited run games do not have anything on them. There's also a royalty/fee (i believe) that goes to this board/company.

I learned about this from a podcast with one of the heads of Limited Run.

I can confirm that this is true. If a game does not have to reside on store shelves, they do not even need an ESRB rating (I'm assuming it's the same for the European PEGI market). This is why limited run games do not have anything on them. There's also a royalty/fee (i believe) that goes to this board/company.

I learned about this from a podcast with one of the heads of Limited Run.

Just as a heads-up, after getting Just Glide, Perseverance was showing me for 49 cents, so I got that one first and then Blood Breed for free.

I was also showing Deadly Fighter 2 for 3 cents, but don't know if it was a current sale, or it was because of the above purchases. But I cannot complain, got 5 games and 5 gold coins for 63 cents.

From all these games, the only reason I proceeded with the purchase, was because I had Perseverance in my wishlist; not because it is a great game, but because I have a soft spot for visual novels/point and click games.

I found out that I own Moto GT Rush. Looked in this forum to see if it was ever mentioned since I just bought the Baltoro games, and then found this post. Freecell isn't listed as free for me though

Thanks a ton for posting this! I also grabbed Perseverance before Blood Breed, being only $.49 instead of $.59, so I was able to get both games for $.10 less. Grabbed Deadly Fighter 2 while I was at it. Run Fish Run! is also part of this sale, but somehow another $.09 was too rich for my blood ;)

Kinda love it when publishers do this. It’s almost a fun little game in and of itself to chase down the right games in the right order, and even if they’re not great, it gives my kids something new to play every now and then for pocket change.

I had to grab my console to get Blood Breed to show $0.59. Kind of weird these publishers can make things free with ownership of something else but the best Jackbox could do with Drawful 2 was make is $.09 when it was free everywhere else last month.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one that gets recommended a lot. It goes on sale every so often for $40-ish, most recently about a month ago.

There’s a limited-time demo for Splatoon 2 on the eShop that’s running for a few more days. It will give you a week-long Nintendo Online trial so you can try the online modes out. The game itself is on sale for $42 for a few more days as well.

Take advantage of that Online trial and download Tetris 99, it’s included with the subscription and it’s a fantastic time killer. A yearly sub with access to the game will run you $20.

These were on PS4, but you can no longer get the first one: the Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth games. Solid, standalone RPGs with creature collecting and Persona-esque fusion mechanics, tone and urban exploration. These are in a collection that’s been dropping in price eveywhere to $30 (physical) this week.

My personal recommendation if you are into rhythm games, Groove Coaster: Wai Wai Party is on sale for $48. Fantastic, meaty tracklist and razor-sharp gameplay. You can try one of the smartphone versions to get the basic gist of it and the kind of music you can find on it. This game taught me that Touhou remixes slap so incredibly hard.

These are the ones I’d say you should take a look at, sales-wise (except Zelda). Deku Deals (https://www.dekudeals.com) is one of the best resources for sales, both physical and digital.

Anyone play Ys VIII? Looks solid but I am new to Switch (and to the YS series). Also..was intrigued by Transistor but realized it was very cheap a few weeks bsck...
 
I can speak for Transistor, and it's an amazing game. Played the PSN version so I'm not too sure how it runs on switch, but it is an easy recommend for me. Easily in my personal top 15, maybe even top 10 games. It's a very stylish game and the combat feels really engaging.

Ys VIII is great. However I personally prefer a higher framerate on arpg's than the switch version does. I would look to play it on ps4 or pc if possible.

In addition to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey is another must have for Switch. Like Zelda, it goes on sale for $40-45 sometimes.

I would put Smash Bros Ultimate and MK8 (if you didn't play it on WiiU) in the next highest tier.

Some other interesting Switch exclusives include Mario Maker 2 and the latest Fire Emblem and Pokemon.

Animal Crossing is such a time sink though that you won't need other games for a while ^^

Here are some PRINCESS MAKER -FAERY TALES COME TRUE- impressions after beating the game once. Honestly I haven't played a Princess Maker game since #2 way back in the day. This feels very much like that, though it doesn't have the dungeons. It is strictly a daughter raising simulator where you choose what she studies, works, free time, etc... over a few years. Total game time for a playthrough is likely about 2 hours. It's a huge learning curve. I messed up my first daughter and had her just paint all the time and went into debt at one point. After you figure out what you should be trying for as there are festivals, you can try to plan around it. I don't use guides, so this first run through was to get my bearings. First of all the music is very old school sounding and the graphics are old school as well with some nice character portraits. I liked the package. Translation is so-so, with some stunted English every now and then. Since you're always juggling stats, I'm sure there are points that you get more events like rivals, and people wanting to eventually marry your daughter. I ended up getting an artistic rival about 2 or 3 weeks from the end of the game, so that wasn't very cool. Honestly it's pretty fun, though I don't think the gameplay is for everyone. It gets a bit repetitive, but honestly is a fun quicker life sim. I will likely keep playing a few more times for a few more endings. The performance on the Switch was really good and the UI and everything were easy to use. 7/10
