3DS game purchases and Wii U game purchases will earn you gold coins. Originally they were used to unlock items with a My Nintendo account, like 3DS wallpapers and coupons for money off of video games. But, on the Switch they are only used to save a few cents off of games. Each gold coin is worth one cent.
 
Glad to see Ring Fit is (sort of) becoming available again for folks to order. I really can't say enough about what a great exercise program it is, especially after the most recent update that allows you to add the jogging courses to your custom workouts. For anyone who might be getting sick of Adventure mode I highly recommend making some custom workouts. I've made a few different ones to focus on different body parts and cardio challenges. You can make some pretty tough workouts. Here's one that I made and recommend trying out (List E is the warmup):

For anyone who might be getting sick of Adventure mode I highly recommend making some custom workouts. I've made a few different ones to focus on different body parts and cardio challenges. You can make some pretty tough workouts. Here's one that I made and recommend trying out (List E is the warmup):

Tower of Time has been one of my favorite PC games over the last couple of years.  Hoping it's a good port.  Would play it again on the Switch.  That's a great price for all that's in the game.

Recently beat Florence. It's like a short film and very creative. It was nice to play and easily worth a few dollars if it goes on a decent sale. Just don't expect a long game. Still very beautiful and has great art and music with an interesting story. I do think it's a bit overpriced, but it's still worth it bundled or relatively cheap. 7/10

 
Hey folks... a few publishers regularly offer discounts on titles for owners of OTHER games by the same publisher.  These discounts only appear if you browse the eShop page for the game on your Switch, which makes it difficult to find such discounts.

Anyway, the following discounts appear to be active at the moment, although I don't know when they'll end -- the info will be on the game's page on your Switch's eShop if you're eligible, though.

  • Drageus Games publisher (lots of shovelware)
    Genetic Disaster - $2.99 instead of $14.99 if you own one of several other Drageus games.
  • Pew Paw -- $0.99 instead of $6.99 if you own of several other Drageus games.
  • Funbox Party -- FREE instead of $0.39 if you own one of several other Drageus games.

[*]Ultimate Games publisher (seems like slightly higher quality shovelware)
  • Climbros -- $7.92 instead of $8.41 if you own one of several other Ultimate games. (Okay, it's a tiny discount, but...)

Useful notes for anyone interested in finding ownership discounts:

  • Discount information (dates, required titles) only appears on the Switch eShop - not the web based one.  If you want to know what titles enable the discount, you need to browse the game description on the Switch.
  • Discounts will automatically display on the Switch eShop if you are eligible.  Browse any list of games and the discounts you are eligible for will be displayed.  While you can purchase these games at the same discount on the web eShop, the actual discount won't be displayed until you click through the PURCHASE GAME link.
  • If you sort a list of games by price, the sorting is done by the standard public price/discount, and does not reflect any special discount you are eligible for.  The easiest way to "browse" for personal discounts is to sort a list of games by price, then scroll down the list looking for any price that appears out of place.  A free title for you that is normally $9.99 for everyone else will appear with the other $9.99 games.
  • If you add a title to your wish list, the web wish list WILL display the current discount for any games you are eligible for.
I wish there were an easy way to quickly check for discounts -- a few of the cheap software companies appear to regularly be marking various games as free to owners of other titles, probably to bump up their sales/download ratings on the eShop.  Drageus, Baltaro, Ultimate, Qubic, and Cool Small Games have all given away titles in the past several months.

Has anyone here bought or sold a Switch online recently? Are people only really wanting version 2 with the better battery or does it matter? Are they mostly only buying brand new? I ask because my Cyberpunk One X bundle arrived yesterday and I have been trying to sell my current One X for 5 days but in my area, it's flooded with Cyberpunk One X and regular One X and a lot of them are selling for much cheaper than I want to sell mine for. I can trade for a Switch bundle with 2 Gamecube controllers, the adapter, an 8bitdo pro controller, mine craft and Smash Bros and of course everything it comes with like the Joy Con and grip, dock etc and original box. Only thing is that it's version 1 with the lesser battery so I'm not sure what I would be able to sell it for. What have been your experiences?

Main reason people still want a version 1 is the ease of jail breaking it.
Beyond that people want the version 2. Not sure what the market is for used atm though. I’ve seen them listed, but who knows if they actually sell.

I traded in my 1, but honestly should have kept it..

Oh I thought it was all about firmware regardless of what Switch you have for modding it. I'll probably do the trade seeing as how little interest my One X is getting or the few ones I have gotten have been lowball or wanting to break up the bundle.

Huh? I do want it. I am trying to sell my black One X to get back some cash for getting the Cyberpunk one. Plus, plenty of people buy these things and then put them online at a markup. I've seen the bundle I paid a total of $426 total going for $550-$600 on offer up and Craigslist. Those people clearly bought them to sell for a profit.

Oh okay. Sorry about that, I just misunderstood. I wasn't meaning to sound critical in any way, I was honestly just curious. And you're right, there's basically a whole industry of people who buy special consoles and editions of things and just resell it for extra.

Okay. Imagine Mega Man X. Now imagine the stages are procedurally generated, and that there are power ups that take your character way beyond anything X or Zero could do. Now imagine that instead of being enemies, Dr. Light and Dr. Wily spend a lot of time heckling you, like Waldorf and Statler from The Muppets. That's the game.

Yeah, many of the OG models up to a certain point have an hardware exploit, that can't be patched away, but there was a finite amount of those. Those units are also probably the ones that have seen the most use, at least the ones that were actually used, so getting one of those early models in good shape is even more desired.

Now the best method for an "open" NS I believe requires a soldering option, which I've done in the past, but never for something with such cramped interior space. So not something I would be doing myself at this point, so for those who may be interested, the early OG units are the best way to go.

 
My spouse is trying to redeem 30% off Dr. Mario for her New 2DSXL and it keeps giving an "unable to complete process. Please refresh your browser or try again later" error. Tried a few times on different machines and browsers since last night. Anyone know anything about this error or a fix?

Is the my Nintendo account you are trying to redeem it on connected to that 3DS? It doesn't just give a code but actually changes the price to 30% off in the eShop on the 3DS so the accounts have to be connected.

wow, thanks! you nailed it. why not just say that in the error message Nintendo, for being the first to implement online game purchases like 15 years ago, they sure have shat the bed in streamlining the process. I had not bought anything online from nintendo since the wii until just this month when we picked up the DSs and using nintendo's website seems overly convoluted for no reason...

to clarify, she had linked the nnid to her my nintendo account and claimed the points...had to login to the eshop from the DS to get the redemption to work. The thing is, she thought it was linked up properly because she redeemed a skin or something last night to see if something else would work and it did so we couldn't figure out the discount code.

Yeah they make it overly confusing. The switch works pretty well in my opinion, but the 3DS/Wii U era online store stuff is a nightmare. Glad I could help!

Gotcha. Well, he ended up being an hour away and needed me to drive to him so I decided not to do it. I just went ahead and sold my One X instead to someone 5 min away.

 
My wife is really into animal crossing, (never played any of them, not my type of game) and was trying to visit another person's island for some fruit she says... I was trying to help her out. Is there no option to visit random people's islands vs the auto generated ones? I see it wants 'Dodo codes' so I'm guessing no.
Also I had no idea people had monetized animal crossing collection. Nuts Seems worse than a destony grind 🤪
 
When I started New Horizons I went on forums to visit people and trade fruit. I haven't played in awhile, but yes it's online economy is pretty stupid. Everyone wants nook miles to even let you visit their town for any reason. It really sucks the fun out of the game.

This is why I didn’t bother with any online BS. I “beat the game” getting the island to 5 star (placed random crap lol) and pretty much quit.

I say post what fruit she needs, someone here should have it... and let her go there free.
I have cherries on my island.

I recently sold my one x with just the power cord for 300 on ebay. Basically ended up with the cyberpunk for free. The switch though would be the better option. Much more in demand right now. And if it is a Gen 1 then you could get a pretty penny for just the tablet alone.

Like I already posted, he ended up being an hour away and would need for me to drive to him. I didn't feel like driving 2 hours round-trip especially since he could always change his mind or whatever. I ended up selling my One X and the controller for $360. I agree that trading for the switch bundle would have been a better deal but I did not think it was worth the drive and risk.

Most of the time, I buy, sell or trade things without issue. There have been a couple of times though when they either no show or try to buy it for less than what we agreed to. So, my rule is no driving more than 15 min or so away.

After hundreds of hours on Animal Crossing I've only gone online once to trade a villager for fruit. I hate that it's the only way to get all of them. I can help you guys out, no problem. I've had pears and oranges since launch and haven't gotten anymore fruits. I was hoping the ticket islands had the others, but it's just repeats of what your island offers.

 
I have cherries, pears, apples, coconuts, and bamboo. I think that I'm only missing oranges and peaches. Unless they add more fruit to the game. New leaf had bananas and mangos, which seem to be currently missing from this game.

I believe I read that you only ever get one non-native fruit on NMT trips, you have to trade with friends for the rest.
