Stutters/lag and frame rate drops are what I've heard.

For sure you'd expect to sacrifice draw distance, resolution, shadows, post processing effects, and possibly texture detail but it seems like they aren't adjusting these three enough to give a consistent play experience.

Maybe they assume that kids don't care? Maybe they realized that still images that show the game is worse could be more damaging to sales than a game that slows down every now and again?

The Switch version of 99% of multi platform games is the worst version. Not sure why you would be surprised by that.
 
maybe what he meant was

its surprising that they dont target the switch first in terms of performance, and then port it to other platforms with 60fps and/or higher resolutions

Anyways, back on topic. Monster Hunter Stories for 3DS/2DS is a really great game, especially if you are a Monster Hunter and Pokemon fan. It also has a pretty decent character creation system, so you can make a passable clone of your favorite Anime protagonist, or just an original character.

I highly recommend this game if you happen to own any other Nakana title. Out of all the publishers on the eShop who tend to give out free games regularly (Qubic, Baltoro, Drageus, Cool Small Games, etc.), Nakana tends to make heartfelt, creative, and unique games (no shovelware either).

Journey of the Broken Circle is a fun platformer adventure with great visuals, sound, music and humor. Like most Nakana titles, there's a deeper meaning within the game (it deals with finding one's self/path in life/existentialism, etc.)

If you can pick it up for free, do so and maybe throw them a buck donation (they include that option in most of their titles and it goes toward good causes).

My status of the My Nintendo Pin set reward changed. Digital purchase. Did not complete the Mario Kart mission.

There was never a requirement to do the Mario Kart mission.... always stated up front you had to complete 4 of the 5 missions AND buy the game.

I bought physical and did the rest, just got home and my status changed also.

Bought Hades also. Only played about an hour because I didn't really feel like playing an action game.

I will say, it runs better than I expected. Better than Enter the Gungeon or Dead Cells on Switch. I didn't encounter any frame drops or input lag that I could notice. I went into it blind. Basically watched the trailer and bought it.

Edit: Quick research is that it runs at 60 fps unless in busier rooms.

Right now I'm playing as Knuckles in m.2's Sonic the Hedgehog 2 port for Switch. I never had the Knuckles cartridge back in the day, so it's nice to play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 for the first time.
 
I bought Ori. A few hours in and already the game is miles ahead of the first (which I didn't think was possible), so damn beautiful and fun to play. Basically all the best of Ori and Hollow Knight in one game.

HOWEVER, it's crashed on me a couple times now already. The game saves basically every step you take so it doesn't really screw you over, but something for potential buyers to be aware of for sure.

I've heard about a couple other eShop games having mild infrequent crashing as well. Such as Ni No Kuni White Knight.
 
It's a very good replacement for a Switch Pro Controller for much cheaper. I think I paid about $40 for mine and have enjoyed it a ton. The only real issue I have is that it can't turn on the Switch by itself.

I love my SN30+ Pro or whatever the SNES-ish one with handgrips is. The analog triggers are nice too, but tend to make controls in some racing games a bit wonky ironically enough.

Nobody knows how many sets of pins they actually have. But as far as I can understand, we have to redeem our code immediately, then pay shipping for the pins, and hopefully we will get a set, and it won't be like the sword phone holder debacle.

I only skimmed the linked article, but I don't see anything confirming that. I mean, it's certainly less likely that some of these games will appear on Switch, but Minecraft is multiplatform and Microsoft does have a history of allowing their IP to show up on Nintendo systems.

Yeah, it’s not like they were ever a big Switch publisher or anything. Ports were about to get less likely with a new gen looming anyway.

What I’m really concerned about is: are they now finally going to cut the crap and discount Doom to something decent, not $30 as it’s $6 everywhere else?

That just says the games are coming to Xbox and PC - doesn't say they'll be exclusive or won't appear elsewhere.

I think it's likely that that's the case for sure - but I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft allows them to appear down the line on Nintendo systems, either.

I realize that you're in shock from this news, but it clearly says that all announced and unannounced Bethesda games will be coming to Xbox and PC, along with GamePass for Xbox and PC. That sounds very exclusive to me. Yeah, it could change in the future, but it sounds like at least at this moment, this is their big screw you to Sony, and also slightly to Nintendo. The reason why Bethesda games were on Nintendo and PlayStation was because they were a third party studio. Now that they are a first party Microsoft studio, their games being on other consoles is about as likely as Mario being in a PlayStation game.
 
The article doesn't say anything about more ports of older games to Switch.  No doubt we weren't going to get the newest games on the Switch but I'd be surprised if they stop porting games.  It's pretty easy money and both companies have done well with their efforts on Switch.  It's Sony who will likely be left out the most since they would have gotten the newest games.

It's a business deal....their goal is to make money. If it makes sense to publish on other platforms, then that is what they will do. But, that will also make game pass a better deal. 70$ for the game on the PS5, or its included in your game pass sub? C'mon man, that is a brilliant way to get you into their ecosystem. Bravo MS!
