Piles of goo can transform into anything!?
It has unstable DNA, which is what allows it to transform in the first place. It's basically a blank slate.

What exactly would you choose to represent something that is able to turn into anything as its main (and sole) power? Something that you can look and and instantly say "Yea, I can buy that changing into anything at will."

Well if that's the case he could have been a smiley face with no body.. no that's lazy.

A blank easel? Nope, lazy.

A weird pig thing stealing the skin suits of other Pokemon... well, that's already be done (or would have been a precedent if it was the original 151).

Either way... I don't have a better idea for what Ditto should look like other than a blob of mush and this conversation is oddly boring.

I actually like all of these ideas better. But to be honest, I don't think there's any great design for Ditto, which is just a terrible Pokemon that found it's niche after Gen 1.

Anyways, I tried to end the conversation earlier, so maybe it will end now.

I learned 1 important thing about Pokemon S/M from the demo.

The main character's name is "Sun".

I was worried after X/Y, but Pokemon has returned to it's proper naming scheme!

That was likely just for the demo, like how Brendan's name was "Orlando" in the ORAS demo. There's a rumor that the PC names will be "Helios" (for the male) and "Luna" (for the female) but we won't know for sure until the games release.

Might want to slightly temper expectations. Rumors are saying it's literally a trailer, not an actual Direct.
Well some actual idea of what the hell it is would be more than we have now. Six months until release and there is no idea of what form it will take - handheld, console, both?

3 min trailer for the nx come on nintendo 16gb's of ram super graphics free online 3rd party support and first party nintendo titles win win

You do know why they aways keep their consoles a secret until 3-6 months from release, right? Also, Breath of Fire on 3ds, woot! I'll probably get it, after I get my new 3ds xl back from nintendo.

So Mario Party: Star Rush is pretty fun. There's a nice variety of game play modes to play through, although you have to keep playing to earn levels to unlock more. Toad Scramble is pretty fun; you play as Toads on grid-based maps and have to collect main character allies, who have special abilities and special dice blocks, then take them into battles against raid-like bosses. Coinathlon is really fun, but gets crazy hard after the first half dozen levels; it's definitely fast-paced, where you run laps on the lower screen in real time based on how many coins you get in minigames on the top screen. Balloon Bash is more like classic Mario Party board games, so they seem to take longer (haven't played that much yet, and there's only one map to start with). I haven't unlocked any modes after that, but I'm close to unlocking something called "Rhythm Recital", and since there's a similar game, I assume it's another mode.

Better than Island Tour, but it's not good enough to be worth $40. I'd only recommend it at $20 or less.

Why do they keep releasing DS digital ports on the Wii U and not the actual 3DS system?!
Probably because the DS games install to the system memory instead of the SD Card as well as disables all the 3DS functionality like StreetPass.

On topic: I hope this console isn't digital only. Not sure if I'm ready for that yet.
I doubt it will be. The blowback from XBox One going digital was extreme, and that was among adults. Clueless parents will be even more angry about it.

From all the rumors, it seems like the NX games will be using more or less beefed up 3DS-esque carts.

Don't know if you noticed this.. but the recent Nintendo update did a great job of disabling functionality to Streetpass.

No SP's even from people in my own house. McD no go. Home Depot no go. Nintendo once again fuck 'd up. How one company can get so many things right but yet prove time and again their incompetent as hell... I'll never understand.

Ummm, no they don't. They showed the WiiU at E3 the year before they actually released it. That's a year and a half. And the same is true with several more of their systems. Yes, they have had some they announced closer to release, but those are mostly new iterations of existing consoles (New 3DS, etc.). Announcing completely new technology less than six months from previously stated release is really a new thing - and very risky, that's pretty fast for people to understand what is predicted to be something fairly new to console gaming.

It's a handheld with a dock to display on a TV. Also it's called the Nintendo Go.
Possibly, that doesn't seem out of line. The problem is the average consumer (the ones that they need to attract) know next to nothing about it. They aren't the ones reading industry speculation and leaked reports.

Not likely to be that clean a name. Instead it'll be something like The Nintendo Nintendo Go.
Some people think it'll be The Nintendo and I think that's a super fuckin dumb name but also incredibly likely because of that.

"Breath of the Wild, coming in March to Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo!"

Like, I say Go because that makes the most sense both with what the system is and that Go has name recognition from that piece of shit Pokemon thing, which also means Nintendo probably won't do it.

That actually looks pretty neat.

I also kind of like the name.
It does look pretty slick. Nice ideas for portability and multiplayer on the go. They showed what was obviously a new 3D Mario game in the Galaxy/Sunshine/64 camera vein, probably single player (for multi-player you can't focus on a single character). Also Zelda, Mario Kart (looked like the WiiU one) and Skyrim. Makes me wonder what kind of power it has, battery drain (cartridges will obviously help battery life) and backwards compatibility (would have to be digital only unless they release a drive, but then that kills portability). I'm sure they will make you buy VC games again, but one can always hope for just an upgrade fee and not full price since we have that universal Nintendo ID now.

That was a great trailer. System looks a lot slicker than I thought, especially since it's more or less a really thin GamePad. Kinda weird they showed off Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 but no Smash Bros. I do wonder if Wii Remotes and Pro Controllers will be compatible.

Also...

That has nothing to do with Nintendo. They ran Nintendo Zone through attwifi and most of those companies stopped using that and switched to different wireless accounts.

I noticed From Software and Bandai Namco on there.  Do I sense a Dark Souls release for the console?  Dark Souls 3 with the DLC included on the go?

The end of the trailer shows a new Pro controller which looks a lot more like a standard 360/Xone one. That alone gives me hope that Nintendo is finally wising up and placing usability over gimmickry.

Well it was working the week before the patch... and I was able to SP the people IN MY HOUSE (or you ignoring that part?). Nintendo once again screwed up.

And if we're taking bets, they'll probably call it the Xii or something equally confusing so old people don't know if it's new/old/whatever or where it falls.

I've seen tons of those types of 3rd party list over the years, and until they release a game worth a damn, I wouldn't be getting to excited.

Pretty much everything they showed was a gimmick. Walking your dog and playing on the go, come on, are they serious. All those removable controls, and everything else will just serve to add extra cost to this device, where it doesn't need it.

Essentially, this is a tablet with added physical controls and can be hooked to a TV. Which is nothing new, and pretty much what the Wii U should have been all along. Don't get me wrong, this will probably be decent, and sale OK, but the whole "switch" concept is a total "gimmick". And once again, they are doing something different, for difference sake.

Eh, I guess, but I guess "tablet with removable controllers and TV dock" doesn't seem nearly as insane as "wiimote waggle" or "kind of a tablet but also a controller and also you need to use a tv at the same time, oh and some games just turn this screen off so it's just a big controller".

Like, it's not far from just being a regular handheld, although I agree that the concept of taking the sides off and one person using each is really fucking stupid. As if there are going to be a bunch of games that just use directions + two buttons.

And yeah, there was a list similar to that at Wii U's launch and look how that turned out. If you have EVER expected strong third-party support since the Gamecube, you're stupid. Buy Nintendo stuff to play Nintendo games. That's how it works. Although, since this would also be replacing the 3DS, I guess there's more of a chance since it'll be the only handheld of any note.

Given how simple the game controls for most Nintendo games are, it wouldn't be surprising. You don't need a lot of buttons to play Mario Kart or Splatoon. Mario is likely to only use a couple buttons too.

My only qualm would be using the triggers when the controller is on its side.

See, a stupid name... the Nintendo "Switch".

Releases in 6 months.  That's pretty quick.

Looks like a WiiU and a Vita had a baby.
