I say the experience is the same regardless of title. The only difference is the type of exclusive pokemon in each game. I chose Sun since I wanted the legendary Sun Lion (Solgaleo).

Any recommendation between pokemon sun or moon if i have never played pokemon before? Thinking of using those used game certs at gamestop
If you normally play games more before 7 PM, get Sun. If you normally play more after 7, get Moon. That way you can play during the "daytime" hours, which is the more enjoyable time IMO.

wow the boss is so easy to catch using a great ball i thought you would need the mastter ball but nope...

Why do ds games go to the wiiU and not the 3ds, I don't get that

I guess because 3DS owners can just go buy a used cart or something, while Wii U owners who don't have a 3DS don't have a way to experience the game.

But I have always been surprised they don't port the games to both systems. I would think those DS downloadable games would sell better on 3DS than Wii U, given the market share of the consoles.

Take a common sense idea, and do the opposite. That's how Nintendo does it. I guess because you need the "new" 3ds to play SNES games you would need a New new 3ds to be able to handle it. Even though physical DS carts play fine on 3ds.

I think it's more because DS games, as evidenced by the Wario Ware game from MyNintendo, saves to the system instead of the SD Card. Also, DS games disable all of the 3DS functionality such as StreetPass and WiFi.

This. DS games are functionally the same as DSi games, so they'd save to the system memory, which is extremely tight.

The 3DS plays DS games natively and not through emulation. Even if it were possible to save games to the SD card, they wouldn't have any Virtual Console features (I don't know whether they do on Wii U or not). And I'm not sure if the 3DS would be powerful enough to actually emulate a DS to have all the standard Virtual Console features.

Nobody would care about this if they at least offered them, as the onus for any issues should be on the consumer and not Nintendo to decide for themselves. The Wii titles on the Wii U eShop don't behave like normal VC games and nobody has batted an eyelash at that either, so the excuse that they don't behave like the other native titles on the device doesn't matter.

All they'd have to do is design the officially sold DS titles to work like all 3DS games, which even includes the GBA Ambassador games. We should've had both the DS and GBA games sold on both from the start of their offerings, as there's no reason not to.

Wouldn't that require changing the hardware, though? IIRC, even Wii games have to change modes in order to function on the Wii U. The 3DS can run DS games (and GBA games) because the actual DS architecture is included in the system. In order to get DS games to work like the other Virtual Console games, they would have to make a brand new system entirely. They could have done this with the New 3DS but likely felt it wasn't worth the extra cost.

Hummmmmmmmmm

7 bucks    gets me 30 coins that would get me    3 bucks off   earthbound

at least its a few weeks to  figure out to buy or not

Except the GBA games don't work the same way as WarioWare despite supposedly also using the DS architecture to work and that was well before WarioWare was released.

Thinking towards tomorrow has never been a quality at "N", so if an idea wasn't thought of before hand, it's almost never something they'll fix or implement after the fact. It can happen, but not likely.

Maybe if we ever get another dual screen handheld after NS, they will add in DS games through the e-shop, but really maximizing a system, or offering games through other means, is just not what they do.

Look at MS and how they went about getting 360 games on the ONE, that was a HUGE undertaking, but MS has the time, money and resources to make it happen.

Hell, the VC games on the 3DS look like ass anyway, so I wouldn't want to pay for DS game if they would look like the other games anyway, as I don't see the value for those faded and dark games that really only offer a save state feature.

DS on the 3DS is just another missed opportunity from the masters, don't ask why, as you'll never make any sense of it anyway.

o_O Was there another GBA game released on 3DS? Because my Ambassador 3DS plays the GBA games in DS Lite mode, meaning no sleep feature, no suspend points, and no additional settings.

You were talking about how DS games were doomed because they only saved to the internal storage, but the GBA Ambassador games managed to not do that despite running through the same DS architecture.

And as I said before, nobody would care about the superfluous features if they at least offered the option of DS and GBA games on the eShop. Let the consumers decide what they care about more since Nintendo obviously never prioritized them to begin with.

Hummmmmmmmmm

AeternoBlade - $2.99 - 80% Off - Ends 1/5/17 - 20
Conveni Dream - $3.99 - 20% Off - Ends 12/29 - 10

7 bucks gets me 30 coins that would get me 3 bucks off earthbound

at least its a few weeks to figure out to buy or not
Aeternoblade isn't bad. I'm about 8 hours into it. It gets pretty hard, in my opinion. Some boss battles require numerous retries, although you can grind for more money to upgrade abilities. The maps become so enormous that it can be difficult to determine where to go, and some of the distances between save points is cruel. It's a Metroidvania, and I think it's metacritic is somewhere around 60. So it's alright, but it won't wow you.

As for Conveni Dream, it was fun for me for a handful of hours, and then the employees you have which run the shop become so good at their jobs that you barely even need to monitor the business. I quit playing around the 5 hour mark out of boredom.

Judging by how people reacted back in the DS Lite days, I'm pretty sure the lack of a Sleep Mode would be a deal breaker for a LOT of people.

I mean, I should re-emphaisze this, the GBA games on the 3DS play like shit. Charging $8 (which I assume is what the price would be) for those would be an even bigger ripoff than the NES or Game Boy games.

Not only are you going to have to start over, you're going to have to throw away your game cart and buy a new one. Sucks to be you, nerd.

Or you could just copy the entire contents of your old card to your new using just Windows Ctrl+A Ctrl X Ctrl V

Cool that they added FE Shadow Dragon. Always a big fan of when expensive/rare/out of print games come to the eShop for relatively cheap. I played it already and sold it in my last lowball on here, but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone at this price.

They actually played fine. I played all the way through WarioWare and it was still a great game that played well. Of course, those were first releases that didn't get updates that the NES games got later on, so we could expect Nintendo or AM2 to improve them as needed. If they need to make them New 3DS exclusive, that would be fine even if the GBA Ambassador games ran fine on the OG 3DS.

Did you see all of the people complaining about Wii games not supporting Miiverse or any of the other Wii U OS features? No? I'd expect the same for GBA/DS stuff on 3DS. People would mostly likely prefer having GBA/DS games with whatever "consequences" come with it than nothing at all. All you'd have to do for the sleep mode thing is put up a warning when starting up the game that sleep mode doesn't work, which is exactly what the GBA Ambassador games did. The "But they won't be able to use all of the OS features" excuse never worked before and it still doesn't work now.

Best Buy has a buy one get one 40% off next week for Wii U and 3DS games (maybe only Nintendo published games?). Two $40 games would come out to about $25 each ($51.20 total) if you have GCU. The only exceptions are Mario Maker 3DS and the new Pokemons.
Thanks. I'll look out for that. Maybe I can get Kid Icarus too.

*SNORT* you think that... *SNORT* best buy would have that game BWAHAHAHAH (not because it's a bad game, which is of course debatable, but because it's a non-mario game that's 4 or so years old. Oh, god I had nearly forgotten how nintendo made us wait nearly a year after the 3ds launched to give us a worthwhile game that wasn't a fucking port. Nevermind, for some reason I thought KIU came out before Super mario 3d land, we only had to wait 8 months for a worthwhile game that wasn't a port)

And was also pretty hard to find not too long after release.

I'm just glad despite not making the leap to 3DS till last year (just no games I was interested in, and I was a HUGE 3DS fan) that my kids were into the system and one of them picked up KIU at launch. So at least I can play it and I don't have to track down a copy.

I bought kid icarus when it was released.
Hated it. Played it for maybe 2 hours at best.
Put it back in the box and ignored since then

Kid Icarus is fun - if they didn't have that shitty control scheme. Even if you use the Circle Pad Pro or a New 3DS, they didn't go with a twin stick implementation which would have helped ENORMOUSLY, it simply lets you flip the controls. Such a waste.

Not unlike Starfox Zero, which would have been a great deal more enjoyable without the forced Gamepad controls.

I did the same, but after my 2 hours I sold it.

Production values where through the roof, and the games flying levels where cool, but those ground levels just didn't work for me, PERIOD!

15-20 years ago, "N" would have NEVER released a game with such shitty controls, but now they make janky game choices and they try to sale them to the masses as something new, or there is now a learning curve. When you have to include a stand with a game, so it is playable, that should be the first sign to scrap the game and start over.

And I so wanted to like that game, as I could see the work that went in to it, but the new "N" just doesn't understand what made their own games so great in the past. KI and ZERO are perfect examples of how these guys have completely lost their minds. The Miyamoto of 20 years ago would kick the Miyamoto of today in the balls and sent him packing, as he has not been following his own advice.

"A delayed game is eventually good, but a bad game is bad forever". Well, they've been delaying games and still turning out crap, or just so so games. "N" has really gotten complacent in recent years, and really need to go back to basic game making 101, and stop the madness!

For me it was the flying levels that I couldn't handle. I couldn't do it at any kind of difficulty cause I'd just die over and over. The walking levels were way easier to control for me.

That's what i'm scared of with Kid Icarus. The control scheme. After watching reviews I'm deciding against it unless i can find a used version or something for like $10. The same thing with Star Fox for the Wii U. I wanted to get it but I played a little of it over a friend's house and decided not to get it just because the control scheme didnt feel natural and it takes away from the fun.

My big complaint about KIU was that the flying portions felt like an ersatz Sin and Punishment, and I got tired of having to replay them every level when only the ground portion mattered toward the checklist goal. That and how much of a grind it was to get good weapons. I could handle KIU's control scheme so it never really bothered me. I can't really complain about it, considering I never could get a good grasp on dual analog control schemes without gyro assist, so the alternative was worse for me.

There's also a rumor the NS will have GCN VC with Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine as the first games released. That and VC upgrade fees are back.

I don't think I made it 2 hrs.  It may have been a fantastic game, but I don't want to retrain myself every game.  It makes it very hard to flip between games.

I didn't play it long enough to get bored with the flying levels, but having read your statement, I guess I was lucky to throw in the towel when I did, as I was never going to bother with the ground levels, and if that was where the bread & butter was, now I see another issue that I didn't have to deal with(Thank God).

Them milking VC is the order of the day, so even though that is a rumor, that is the one thing about the NS I would actually place a bet on, as there is no way they won't be charging again for the same games. They do shit like like, and fans pay, so they think it's OK, just like offering a chargeable device, with no way to charge it, and thinking that is OK.

It's the legacy Iwata left behind, and I see no one there making the correct call and fixing any of these issues, so get ready for more of the same.

I beat KIU and loved it. It was an absolute tour de force and hilarious from start to finish.

But no fucking way am I ever going to play that crap again. The levels were enormous, especially Medusa's Last Stand, the tower, and the endgame stuff. You could have 5 minutes of flying and 45 minutes of on foot just to knock out one level and expect me to do that in one continue? You have this massive weapon grind system AND a sliding scale difficulty so there's no way I'm ever going to know what weapon is appropriate for what difficulty level? And then it's just like a Koei Musou game where all top tier weapons look EXACTLY THE SAME so you're farming the same set of buffs for anything you are serious about...

That said, you guys are dead wrong about KIU's and Space Yiff Zero's controls. They were excellent and ahead of their time.

That said, KIU's dodge sucked.
