Thanks guys! I'll just stick to buying physical but keeping an eye out for digital sales.
That's what I do. I buy digital typically during sales and mostly digital only games. If it's physical then I will just wait for a good sale and get it then (unless it's something I really want bad like DQ VII which I will pre-order). But I also like sharing games with my kids so physical makes a lot more sense as the carts can be saved but the digital stuff can't be.

If a game is available physically, the only time I buy digital is when it's deeply discounted. I think the only ones I have are Bit.Trip Saga ($5), Code of Princess ($10), Rhythm Thief and Street Fighter (Humble bundle).

Wow, not even a sale on Metroid games commemorating the anniversary...
It is Monday. I don't think Nintendo typically puts it's games on sale on Monday's. The new deals are from Atlus.

Also it was the 30th anniversary of Metroid in Japan but we have another year before the North American release date so they may not celebrate such a thing here until then.

I don't know, most of the anniversary celebrations have been worldwide, like Pokémon's 20th this year. If it was a big celebration maybe there would be regional differences, like the Zelda live music thing, but I highly doubt Metroid would get anything near that scale.

I'm expecting the same level of effort as the 25th anniversary a few years back, though Federation Force is coming soon I guess. The fact that they didn't use that as an easy promo makes it seem like they've given up on trying to turn around the negative reception.

At least we have fan projects to celebrate with, like AM2R.

Yeah, if Nintendo loved Metroid they would be treating Samus better there wouldn't be 8 games, 3 spin offs, and Other M over 25 years and the last mainline game in 07. Zelda basically doubled that in the same time and I don't even want to know how many Mario games there's been in the last 25 years.

It's unfortunate that we're getting to where it feels like more Nintendo games than not have been middling to poor lately, especially the stuff that deviates from their normal formulas. Which is too bad because that's the stuff they were always really great at even a couple years ago.

That $30 for Stella Glow caught my eye, as it seems like a good price. I then proceeded to google what the current cost of the physical copy is, and holy crap, it's essentially sold out everywhere and being sold for above MSRP for cart-only copies. I think I'm gonna grab that digital copy, especially with how many people were saying it is a fantastic game.

I checked on Gamestop.com and I can get Stella Glow new or used pretty easily at about 20 stores within 60 miles.  Its $50 new and $40 used (less with pro).  Anyway, I had read up on the game before and it didn't seem like my kind of thing even though I like turn based strategy.  It just seemed a little too relationship related... but reading the current feedback and it's quite amazing.  I'm downloading the demo right now... I'll at least give it a try to see if it's worth getting while it's still available in physical form.  I think the original MSRP though was $50 as I think all of the copies are LE's.

You don't have to do the junk in dating sims, you just have to take time out of your free time to talk to the characters, doing so teaches them new abilities.

It just seemed a little too relationship related... but reading the current feedback and it's quite amazing. I'm downloading the demo right now... I'll at least give it a try to see if it's worth getting while it's still available in physical form. I think the original MSRP though was $50 as I think all of the copies are LE's.
Most of the Gamestops in my area are sold out, outside of a few. I guess if I really wanted physical, I could grab one from there. But $30 (having $40 in credit to spend) is a bit more enticing than $50 + tax of my money. :) I'll have to think about it

In the meantime I'm with you. Gonna download the demo just to make sure before I splurge.

Finished downloading the demo for Stella Glow and it got me thinking about all the unopened 3DS games I have from my 3ds library building over the past 10 months... figured I'd keep on downloading demos to try some of the games I own before opening them (Codename Steam, Legend of Legacy... etc).  It's great we have the option to demo some of this stuff.

Huh, looking at Etrian for 9.99, it only gives you 10 coins. Is My Nintendo fixed to give out the amount of coins based on sales price now?
I hope not. Couldn't find any mention online and there is nothing on sale that I want currently to try it out. I know as of last week it was still giving you coins based on original price and not sale. It was a nice extra incentive to buy games on sale. Oh well. Got every gold coin prize I wanted anyway.

I see that now too on the web store listings. If anyone buys anything on sale, please confirm that the actual gold coins matches the website and sale price or the original price.

This was part of the incentive I felt for buying some games on sale.

Nintendo just announced a bunch of stuff.

- New 3DS regular bundle with two different faceplates (one Mario based, one Mario Maker Mystery Mushroom costume based) for $149.99.

- New amiibo bundles. Super Mario series Peach and Bowser with Mario Party 10, Toad with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and Blue & Pink Yarn Yoshis with Yoshi's Wooley World. $39.99 each.

- New lineup of Nintendo Selects.

3DS titles: Lego City: The Chase Begins, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Animal Crossing New Leaf, Nintendogs + Cats, and Tomodachi Life

Wii U titles: Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, NintendoLand, and Lego City Undercover.

Might actually give Tomodachi Life a shot now, although it may give me flashes of PTSD from "playing" that terrible Miitomo app.

I'm guessing this was the reason the regular versions of these games dropped to $29.99 a week or so ago. Wish I would have known that back then as I probably would have held off on getting Captain Toad to pick up the bundle for a little bit more.

New 3DS is everything I could want.

My OG system is showing its age but I don't want an XL. Animal Crossing bundle sucks, and Pokemon bundle is hard to come by. This one has two decent faceplates, and at a good price.

Anybody know if GCU discounts hardware?

Of course, I bought Yoshi's Wooly World again, and it's dropping in price (thankfully, I only paid $18).  I'm looking forward to rebuying Luigi's mansion (since I traded it in for $33 a few months ago)

Do you not know about the major backlash from when every other region announced the New 3DS and New 3DS XL, and North America not-giving-a-fuckally announced the New 3DS XL?

They eventually released the original model in NA, but it was bundled with an Animal Crossing game that nobody wanted. Then they released a special Pokemon 20th anniversary New 3DS bundle, but it's very hard to find.

Everyone needs to buy Lego City Undercover for WiiU. Might be one of the best games for the system that barely anyone played.

I am going to get Luigis mansion for 3ds. Been wanting it but the game being out of print has caused prices to jump here and there

Man the new selects suck ass considering how rarely we get them. Lego City? Seriously?! I wish we got something good like Splatoon or New Super Mario Bros.  I wasn't expecting Smash Bros or anything, but come on.

WATCHU TALKING ABOUT?????

Lego city is one of the best games on the Wii U (and it was OOP) so I'm happy I can get another copy for less. And not too many people played it too.

Addendum to the new 3DS bundle. It also includes Super Mario 3D Land.
The New XL has been $175 on Amazon for several weeks now. Seeing this announced for that price makes me think that it's going to turn out to be a leaked MSRP drop.

The XL isn't getting a price drop, just the regular.

And can it be considered a leak when it's announced by the company making it?

Referring to the $175 being a leak, derp.

Although, seeing now that the bundle's going to be exclusive to Walmart & Target, that makes it more doubtful.

If I hadn't paid like $150 for my AC bundle I would feel seriously ripped off. Hopefully that means we get more faceplates now.

Of course that won't happen though.

So is the coin thing confirmed? That alone influenced my buying a few games that were on sale...

Hell I didn't even buy box box boy yet since it has no coins associated with a purchase..
