How much was Snake Pass last time? Heard good things after I passed on it.

Bought Vaccine on sale as soon as I found out about it earlier today. Resident Evil is my favorite series, particularly the first three games, and for the past year I've been hoping someone would make a callback to those. This scratches that itch. 

It's a hot mess of a game. The mansion and all of the items/weapons/enemies are randomly generated, so there's no memorization required. The only weapon you're guaranteed to have is the knife, which thankfully is actually pretty good. There's also no map, no save function at all aside from scores, and no checkpoints. It plays almost identically to the original RE, so there's no auto-aim or quick-turn. There are some very minimal RPG elements added -- you gain experience for actions and killing enemies, which you use to level up five skills.

It's ridiculously difficult and luck plays a huge role, but I'm enjoying it. I don't replay the old RE games very often anymore just because I know them too well, so it's great being able to drop in for some bite-sized classic survival horror gameplay, complete with tank controls and static camera angles (my favorite gameplay scheme), in an environment that always changes. I just wish it was modeled more after RE2, because quick-turn and auto-aim would make this a legitimately great game, in my opinion. The RE: Outbreak-like timer isn't ideal, but I'll take what I can get. Nostalgia is a powerful thing.

Damn, you had me interested at your first paragraph, and had me running away by the second. LOL

Ha! Yeah. It's not for everyone. Being such a throwback to old-school Resident Evil was gonna alienate most gamers already (sadly), but even more people will be turned off by the random elements and especially the timer. It's probably not gonna sell very well.

It's interesting though. The story has a Groundhogs Day aspect that seems clever for an indie game. It takes a while to figure out how to really beat the game, unless you look it up beforehand. I would've been okay with paying $10 for it, let alone $7.

Only free if you owned the original Shovel Knight before they released Treasure Trove.

technically you get all the expansions. So it is the same thing. I am not sure that there is anything treasure trove exclusive. The treasure trove is just the name they needed to give the 'complete collection' for newer systems.

You could easily take it out and set it up and put it back. Box isn't sealed in any way. I realize it's probably more about him opening it but it is an option.

I actually thought they had updated awhile back to allow for buys on their store, and to be downloaded to the system later. But I never tried it, so I can't say for sure, but I thought I read that someplace. Of course being "N", you may have to jump thru hoops to make it happen, but I thought it was possible.

I use it just like I do with Xbox. I log into my account, and buy it from the website. It then downloads it to my switch when in range of WiFi. Did it with Stardew Valley and Thumper in the last month. Maybe it only works that way if you've ALREADY linked your account to a Switch? That would be very Nintendo lol

That should technically work, but I open all electronic gifts before Christmas, so insure things are working properly. Nothing worse than having something like that not work, and maybe no inventory for weeks or months for replacements. So when I gave my son his Wii U, I had set up an account, and had used his 3DS to transfer his Mii character, and he was ready to go Xmas morning(I also charged it to).

Since "N" boxes are normally not sealed, it was easy to open, inspect and test, and return it to new. Not that my son would have noticed any way. LOL

You can remove the game from the console before it even finishes downloading so you don't even see it on the screen.

Go back to eShop and redownload whenever you want.

It's your kid, But i'd set it up so you can buy what you want.

Verify the console is working properly, setup the account etc. so that when he opens the box... after the Switch powers up, he can play!

Bought a PS4 one year for a gift, the hour+ setup process and download of the update... didnt go over well. (we had people impatiently waiting for some couch co-op) Should have at least fired it up and downloaded the latest update in retrospect.

Save some time, get the switch setup so you can buy the games you want, Wrap the Switch the day before... download any updates, shut it down, and wrap it up.

There were no ads on the bottom screen, and no notifications. I managed to win one play through the Practice Catcher. Guess Badge Arcade is winding down even more?
