I am thinking at least $450 or $500 for the new model. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't mind $400 either, but this thing is probably going to have SSD and OLED.

Some Arcade Archives titles went on sale at the Eshop for $5.59 each. These titles hardly ever go on sale.
Arcade Archives Dinorex
Arcade Archives BONZE ADVENTURE
Arcade Archives DON DOKO DON
Arcade Archives THE NEW ZEALAND STORY
Arcade Archives METAL BLACK
Arcade Archives GUN & FRONTIER
Arcade Archives Liquid Kids
Arcade Archives The Fairyland Story
Arcade Archives BEN BERO BEH
Arcade Archives ALPINE SKI

90s style shoot-em-up Andro Dunos 2 came out in 2022 for $19.99. It has been on sale for $5.99 and then $3.99 a few times, but it just hit it's all time low of $1.99. If you're a fan of the original game or 1990s Genesis/TG 16 shmups, you'll love it. Casuals to bullet-hell fans can enjoy. Totally recommend.

You would think they would put a newer game or a voucher for a choice from like 3 new games or something. I know I got Uncharted 3 I think when I got that older PS3 revision bundle. It's like if at that point that bundle came out bundling Uncharted 1 with it still. Nintendo are very stuck in the past a lot of the time though.

They want to bundle it with a game that has significant DLC for that additional revenue. 😁

Right now they’re getting zero revenue from me. Out of all the consoles currently on sale that I don’t own (which is most of them), the Switch is easily the one I want most, but Nintendo’s obstinacy on bringing it down to my price threshold, or to at the very least include more value in their holiday bundles, means that seven and a half years later, I still don’t own one. At this point it seems quite possible I may never own one, and that’s entirely down to Nintendo maintaining launch pricing on seven year old tech.

Keep an eye on newegg or something in case they have discounts?

I think the target for Mario Kart is all the kids that don't have a switch who might get one for Christmas. It's not as violent as say Smash Bros nor does it require a ton of skill to have a good time. It makes sense to me with the target being families.

The serious gamers who really wanted the system, bought one already. The folks that held out to maybe save $50 7 years later aren't the target until maybe BF 2025 when the real liquidations of hardware happen (unless they just don't do that and instead let current stocks exhaust themselves).

I'm glad I got the switch during the first restock after launch. It's been a hell of a great 7 years (and change) of gaming. For the first time since the GBA, I got into a system at the start and played it through it's life. Usually I wait till near the end, get a deal, and then start stacking games like a fool from various sales. But what that usually results in is some games get my time but most end up just end up in backlog hell. I'm over doing that. It doesn't really save me any money in the long run and I feel like I'm always playing catch up and then need to spend a lot of time selling stuff off. Hopefully the next system is BC. That'll make it easy to just get it at (or near) launch and just migrate over to it.

If the new Switch is fully BC and has some degree of upscaling/performance increase on old games and a much bigger screen I'll actually be tempted to buy it day one. If any of those things is missing I may never buy one at all.

Hoping for a decent deal on an OLED in the coming months. The screen on my Lite had been popping out a little bit, though it was just adhesive wearing down. But some pieces are separating a bit and the back has a bulge that's starting to crack. Read about people having issues with batteries bulging. Want to transfer my primary to an OLED and the Lite to my current primary and retire the Lite, which is also experiencing stick drift issues. The main one has drifting as well, but can just swap Joycons on that.

Umm, if your battery has started to bulge it’s a fire hazard. The chemical reaction in that battery has started and you need to take it out immediately.

I just need a few games that just wow me. Breath of the Wild was enough to push me over the edge. Beyond that, BC is a massive plus as it means a straight up migration to the new system. I won't buy just for BC though, I need some key game and Metroid Prime 4 (if that's their plan) is probably not enough for me. Zelda, Xenoblade, Mario, Dragon Quest, ... something in one of my favorite series will be the primary factor.

I mainly play docked as my eyes are getting to where readers are needed for some stuff... so I'm probably not going to care about the screen size or type. I will be interested in options for a second dock though.

Trade in to GameStop ASAP 😆 just kidding

I'm honestly surprised they never released a "docked switch lite" that had no portable option but I guess just eliminating the screen wouldn't cut the cost enough to justify it existing. That's part of why I'd want a bigger screen though, I've never tried an OLED but the regular Switch screen is just a tiny screen, smaller than some phones at this point, and too small for me to play most games on comfortably even with readers. But I'm heavily invested in my Switch at this point and for me to spend money on a Super Switch would have to mean being able to bring that library with me.

Someone earlier today trolled me with a "Switch VR" idea that seemed just believable enough that I could see Nintendo being insane enough to do it and now I'm terrified that could come to pass and be another Wii U level disaster.

The battery in my PSP got fat. Luckily still have my ac adapter.

Contact Nintendo with photos. Battery bulges are a serious fire hazard. You should not attempt to disassemble the device yourself. You should not leave it on a charger, and for sure don't put it on a charger unintended. You run the risk of burning your house down.

Look up the spicy pillows subreddit for some graphic photos but they can easily rupture and then burst into a giant fireball when they are punctured. No spark required. The chemicals inside make oxygen so they're very hard to put out when on fire. And the fumes/chemicals are toxic.

I really cannot understand how we have zero regulation, legislation, or oversight for these garbage LiON fire hazard batteries that mfgs put in everything from tooth brushes to laptops. I would put in a bucket filled with sand and contact my local division of public waste for local instructions.

Off topic a bit, but pagers were hacked in Lebanon which set off explosions. Scary to think that these electronic devices can be hacked to turn into bombs.

These batteries are massive hazards if not treated properly

I think we REALLY need to be concerned if these people learn to make fax machines explode!

But honestly, what would be the reason anyone would use a pager? Are cell phones banned in Lebanon or something?

Doctors still use pagers and some citizens still like using them in the Middle East I guess?

Scary stuff either way, we ever piss off China we’re fucked

just an fyi, they are saying this was primarily a supply chain attack, so explosives were used to cause the damage, not simply overheating the batteries. not that it would be that hard for china to add a little explosive magic to every new iphone out there.

... are there any phones (not tablets) with screens bigger than the original Switch?

I don't see how they'd be portable as phones.

The original Switch only has a 6.2 inch screen, basically every iPhone and every Galaxy except the base models is bigger than that. And honestly with the resolution and the bezel the Switch screen manages to feel even smaller than it is, especially if you spend any time using a 10 inch tablet and then go back to it.

This is on sale. Not sure if it is the price you are looking for.
