Selling my GameCube stuff off on eBay. ALL OF IT. Wife has bun in the oven, and I'm trying to act "responsible" so she doesn't get any angrier with me.

http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZgumozujeQQhtZ-1

There's some good stuff in there. The VGA Cable will probably go for next to nothing, and it's a good option for those of you who don't want to screw with importers. Both bongo/game sets will also be overlooked, and I hardly touched the bongos at all.

Worth a look if you're interested in beefing up your GC library. Thanks.

Having a baby in her stomach seems like a huge advantage to you. I'd use it as collateral to keep my video game stuff.

I'm sure she'd respond to that with "I can shove the GC up your ass in case you'd like to get a feel for whats going on with me."

Before this whole thing, I would've told you that getting knocked up would do something like anywhere between -5 and -10 across the board on attributes, with maybe the exception of INT and SPI. But I'd swear she's gone +3 STR and at least +7 AGI since conception. She laid that AGI-assisted crit on me re: gaming junk, and I folded like so many bingo tables.

I usually keep a low profile with gaming, as my wife's not a gamer, but she's cracking down with all these unexpected stat boosts. My hope is that if I sacrifice GC for the sake of the devil spawn, she'll leave the PC gaming alone.

I'm totally running for cover on this one. I dare any of you to stand up to this woman. She is a force of nature, and not the good kind, like sprinkles on a sunny day. She is the gale force wind that picks up a trailer and tosses it 100 yards.

I'm gonna keep an eye on these, especially the VGA Cable. Will it work with any game, or just those that support Progressive Scan?

I put a bid on your system and your zelda. You need to inform our wife of her role. Gaming comes first. Just kidding but good luck.
I'm gonna keep an eye on these, especially the VGA Cable. Will it work with any game, or just those that support Progressive Scan?
Only those with Prog Scan. Don't recall where to get the list.

It helps with some games, it doesn't with others, and in some games it brings up strange graphical ticks (waves in Windwaker).

Realize I'm not doing a good job of selling that cable--just chatting about prog scan. Overall, I thought it was worth doing just to keep the GC off the TV and to use an old monitor, but I don't think it improved the graphics in a significant way. I remember it made Sunshine look much better, but for most everything else I didn't see much difference.

It certainly didn't make a difference the way the VGA Box did for the Dreamcast.

Here's a bump.

Surprised to see little interest in the VGA cable. Guess I shoulda kept the "honesty" thing to a minimum in the previous post. Note the link I provided above--a lot of games support prog scan (I only bought games that did). Still doesn't take away from the fact that in my experience, prog scan adds little to no improvement in graphics, but hey, you get to put a monitor to use.

Everything besides the VGA cable has bids/watchers. I'm very interested to see where DK:Jungle Beat w. Bongos goes off. That to me is the watermark. If it fetches the best bid/most interest, I will feel better about the gaming public in general. That game will rock your socks off. I tore into that game at a friend's house on many weekends--made me realize I had to have a copy of my own. (Incidentally, the best bongos to use are always your friend's bongos. Keeps your own in pristine condition. Sorry, friend.)

If Paper Mario 2 goes off at the highest bid, I will be disappointed in you, gamers. Very disappointed.

DKJB kicks an obscene amount of ass, but so does PM2. Both are hugely underrated (except in the Nintendo community).
DKJB kicks an obscene amount of ass, but so does PM2. Both are hugely underrated (except in the Nintendo community).
In my estimation they are not equals.

DKJB is underrated by almost every gaming clique, including even Nintendo fanboys. It's such a simple platformer, but everything about the game is so clean. There's no loose ends there. Games like this are the sole reason I will purchase a Revolution.

PM2 is overrated by N fanboys, I think. I played through it, and felt like I had just witnessed some interesting graphics when I wasn't looking at a dialog box. But I didn't find any of PM2's "twists" on the typical RPG inspiring: the crowd applause was an afterthought, and none of the boss fights had me actually thinking about tactics. Man, that opera chick's tits were enormous, though, weren't they?

I think the goofiness surrounding PM2 is the same BS around SMRPG: they're both good RPGs, but they're not anything close to being the experience N fanboys want them to be.

Mmm. PM2 doesn't demand a lot of tactic, no, but in my opinion, no RPGs do. You just eventually get more powerful than the guy you're up against and you smoke'em. Even if it's something where the enemy can change their weakness, or you can only use certain attacks, or you can only attack at certain times, etc., I've never played an RPG that was big on the tactic department. Even tactic RPGs suffer in this degree - just make your men more powerful and you can win most of the time without thought.

The thing about the PM series for me is that the control, the outside-the-battle environments and gameplay minigame-like enhancements, and the fact that it is completely off the scale in terms of a unique factor. I'm tired of anime inspired RPGs myself, and the PM series always strikes me as a cool way of expanding Mario's universe.

It's the only RPG I've played recently that's kept me interested (though I'm not counting M&L 2 since I haven't started it yet). But eh.

Cool auctions though, good sir, and hopefully I won't have too much CAG competition on some of them. :)

Yeah, but that's always true. I try not to get caught up in grinding so that boss battles are a little more challenging. There have been RPGs where not grinding has made things difficult for me. Grandia 2 is one I can think off-hand, though that's not to distinguish it from other RPGs. I couldn't beat the end boss having gone though at a relaxed pace--tried all kinds of crazy battle tactics and still got slammed. Had to go back and grind out a few lvls, and even then still had to fight a smart battle. Never had this problem in PM2 with any boss.

Again, I think PM2 is a good RPG, but I don't think it is the equal of DKJB, which to me was a real eye-opener as far as platformers go. Maybe I got caught up in going after PM2 when I should have been distinguishing DKJB.

Anyhow, your perspective is appreciated, and I thank you for your compliments. I hope you'll do some bidding, though some dude on the VGA Cable is raggin' my ass with annoying questions. He's sent me 3 messages that I know he's sending just because he wants to kill time--messages with questions that I know he knows the answers to,. I just wish the guy would clam it and start doing some bidding.

Maybe the "little stranger" will enjoy video games too? ;-) 'Course by the time he/she is old enough to play, we'll probably have a Nintendo 2011 Console & the Cube would be passe', so might as well sell it.

BTW I always find it amusing that the husband has to sell his "childish hobby", but the wife continues spending like crazy. So what is your wife "giving up" to help fund the bills??

P.S. If you're wondering why sales are slow, it's because most people are carrying ~$5000 Christmas Card Debt & have locked-up thier wallets until Spring. Walk into stores during January/February & it will be deathly quiet. People don't spend.

That's why I rushed to sell my Cube/games before Christmas. I knew it would have little value after.

That's a really good point I didn't think of. My timing does suck on this one.

And the sell-off will appease the old lady for the time being. I'll sneak a Revolution into the house eventually. ;)

Because if the guy threatens not to have sex he'll just get laughed at then give in about a day later.
And the sell-off will appease the old lady for the time being.
Good, but what is SHE giving up? It's not really fair if you give up your Cube games & she continues wasting money on romance novels (or whatever).

IMHO.

Ass. Crazy ass.

And once she's Rose Bowl float sized, a lot of freedom. I dunno. You made a lot of sense on the "get the auction in before x-mas" thing, but you're off mark when it comes to keeping the old lady happy. If I tried the "I give an apple, you give an apple" argument with her, I would imagine it would end with a smack to the noggin and birdies flying around my head. I don't have a problem selling the GC junk, so I'm doing that to rack up Scout points to be applied at a later date. Forward-thinking, one might call it.

Hey, that's odd, because when I win, your gf sucks my dick, too. Weird.

:)
And once she's Rose Bowl float sized, a lot of freedom. I dunno.
Yeah but SHE wanted the baby, didn't she? Else she would not have agreed to getting pregnant/big. She's not really "giving up" anything, because she's getting exactly what she wanted. Right?

Ahhh.

I think I woulda stayed single.

Well, I do what I can with what I've got, minty. Still nice of you to provide that hummer, though. Awfully thoughtful. :D

cute, and how did you know it was minty?

If it was planned then likely they are BOTH getting what they wanted. If it wasn't planned then she didn't agree to anything (even if she is happy with it now).

But I think I'd rather sell my gamecube games instead of carrying a baby for 9 months and then giving birth. While I would argue about selling my stuff (unless we were broke), I wouldn't be so stupid to use your argument.

(rolls eyes) Oh ye men of weak willpower. Sex isn't that great. Just download the porn & take care of yourself. Never let a Woman use Sex as a control over you.

Masturbation or sex...... I think you're the only one who really has to debate that.
Masturbation or sex...... I think you're the only one who really has to debate that.
Sex is fun, yeah, but you don't need it. When my girlfriend said, "I'm withholding sex!" it was an empty threat. And I know many women who'd rather have a good toy, than a man. Not everyone is addicted.

Solution for your gf: Negtive feedback on eBay. Or even the threat of it.
Surprised to see little interest in the VGA cable
So you predict the cable will not get many bids, then you act surprised when it doesn't?

It's too bad none of the VGA cables for any of the systems work with all (or even most) games. I would have snagged one for my PS2 by now.
So you predict the cable will not get many bids, then you act surprised when it doesn't?

Guess I don't correlate low bids and low interest, though I can see how somebody might do that. However, in my limited eBay experience, I've auctioned off items that had 25 Watchers, but received next to no bids. Going into this liquidation, I figured the VGA cable wouldn't sell for much, as it's kind of a boutique item, but I thought I'd at least see a bunch of Watchers on the auction trying to convince themselves that it's worth bidding on. At the time of that post, there were only a few Watchers.

I didn't have a problem with prog scan games and the GC. Seemed like the games I wanted were all prog scan capable, but then at my highest I only had a total of maybe 20 games. Only exceptions were Baiten Kaitos, maybe, and the Tales game that came out for the GC (Tales of Symphonia)--I'm pretty sure one of those two didn't support prog scan. IMO, and I don't know if this is entirely accurate, most of the good games for the GC support prog scan.

I posted it earlier, but here it is again:
http://www.mobygames.com/attribute/sheet/attributeId,275/p,14/
This is a list of prog scan capable games for the GC. As I said, outside of one of the two RPGs I mentioned above, I never ran into a game I wanted not running in prog scan. Guess I'm lucky.

Could you keep the VGA & use it on your future PS3 or Revolution?
Could you keep the VGA & use it on your future PS3 or Revolution?
No, it's a modded GC component video cable.

I can't imagine that the Rev will use the same cables as the GC, and besides, I don't think something like a DAV port will be on the Rev, based on statements Nintendo has made.
Any CAG discounts?
Nah, I don't believe in 'em.

Not trying to ruffle feathers, and not unappreciative of the CAG community, I just think that discounts lead to overbids, and overbids lead to people overspending. While I want a good price, I want a fair price. I don't want some 13 year old kid to wind up cleaning out his video game cash because he got biddin' fever when he saw a high bid by somebody who has the S&H discount to allow them to overbid. S&H discounts, on a per item basis, are unfair to the people who genuinely want the items and don't have the luxury of the e-wink/e-nudge on S&H charges.

Besides, I charge (and have mistakenly undercharged) for postage and materials, no buffer in there, so I don't see that a discount is necessary. I like to keep things aboveboard. Again, hope this isn't taken as a slight to CAG.

See, this is why I'm marrying a gamer. We've discussed the fact that, when we have kids, we'll have to have two of each system. "No no! That's Mommy and Daddy's saved game! For the love of god, don't touch!"

But, then again, we argue over whose turn it is, and she loves platformers and dislikes FPSs and RPGs (my fave)...

(1st post. Glad to have found the site)

EDIT: I still really want one of those Zelda Collection disks, but they're always bloody expensive. Anyone ever find them these days for under $25?
Workin' on a couple of 'em. You better combine shipping if I win more than one auction... :)
You know I will. Taking a half day tomorrow to clean up and, even though auctions end later in the afternoon, maybe get a few items in the mail by the end of the day. So you may see the stuff super quick.

Last bump. 2-3 hours left.

Everything going off as expected. Looks like the VGA Cable will most likely go for $20 or less. The GC Bundle isn't seeing a lot of bids, either. I probably should have broken it up even more, but I got tired of listing all those damn items.

Thanks for the attention, CAG. I've gotten a lot of eBay tips off of here, and I appreciate how friendly everybody is. Thanks a bunch.
