I was browsing in Circuit City today for any leftover games from their big markdowns and discovered that the official Nintendo GBA Wireless adapters were sale priced at $9.99. This may be YMMV, but if interested check your local CC.

If you find Pokemon Leaf Green w/ the adapter (priced at $20), you could probably gank the adapter and sell the game itself for more than $10. Just another option.

This was probably the worset acessory for a nintendo product ever. EVER. The wireless feature didnt even work well with pokemon red/green and only allowed for 3v3. Horrible, atleast the power glove was a freaking glove that you could wear but this was totaly useless. For shame Nintendo, spending $9.99 is $9.98 too much.

Was this thing compatible with the classic nes series? I thought I read something about that. I still have a new one in my Red Pokemon game that I have yet to play.

That's what I did. But I kept my copy of leaf green. I added the adapter to my collection of useless video game accessories.
isn't the third party one better? I heard you can only use these with certain games...
Well, you're right that the other one works with all games, but by all accounts, it works like crap. I actually had a pretty good experience using the official one with Pokemon, though it only works with a handful of other games.

I'm pretty sure it works with the NES Classics series, but does anybody know if they kept the functionality in for Mario Tennis? That was the original plan. If so, I'm getting one for my friend.

I dont know, you would have to check the mario tennis package, there will be a wireless icon or some type of icon that will tell you if its compatible with the wireless adaptor or not.

Its a very useless acessory, it would work well if people would actually play pokemon in public, the idea was that you were supposed to be able to go into a public place and hook up with someone near you wirelessly and anonymously through pokemon to trade and battle and stuff. The wireless adaptor would automatically find anyone within a certain amount of feet of your gameboy advance.

But since no one ever plays gba in public, it doesnt work, also the other person has to be sitting and waiting in the union room in pokemon to get it to work. This really should have been a WIFI (read internet) accessory since internet pokemon battles would rock (pokemon diamond and pearl DS will be online though so no worries).

So basically, it's like the DS's and PSP's wireless system, except it totally sucks?

Yeah basically(its like the DS local wifi), cept it sucks, no one uses it, and it is NOT compatible with all games like many people think. The only games are pokemon fire red, pokemon leaf green, pokemon emerald, the classic nes series, and digimon racing i think, unless there are more.

Like i said it would work if everyone were to bring their copy of pokemon fire red/leaf green/emerald to a mall food court and play but unless you can somehow miraculously make that happen i dont think your ever gonna get any use out of this device.

If you want to play pokemon online (with other people) your best off saving your money for pokemon diamond/pearl when they come out, ignore the gba/gbc games for now. If you have pokemon gba games hang onto them though, since you will probably be able to download your pokemon to the newer DS games.
