When I was younger, I remember going to K-Mart and Wal-Mart and seeing Nintendo brand pins, you know, like shirt pins. My mother would usually let me get one each week. I have a pretty good collection of them, but I'm looking to get the entire set. The only problem is is that I don't know how many they made! Does anyone know what I am talking about, and if you have any, want to trade/sell them to me? Here's the ones I have:

Mario (Skateboard)
Mario (Hammer)
Mario (Dying?)
Mario (Racecar)
Mario (Motorcycle)
Mario (Jumping)
Mario (With Starman)
Flying Paratroopa
Hammer Brother
The Legend of Zelda (Just the title.)

I'm pretty sure Bowser (a.k.a. Koopa) is one, as well as a Princess Peach. There may be some more Zelda ones as well.

Here's two of them on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42372&item=6134239270&rd=1

There's skateboard Mario in that pic, and hey, there's a Luigi, which I need...any help?

I think I actually have a complete set of those pins in my room somewhere. I'll take a look for them later and see what I can tell ya. I think the ones I have are from Children's Palace though.

I don't remember those, but I do remember getting a little bronze "Nintendo Power" logo for subscribing to Nintendo Power for a year. Also if you subscribed for two years you got a silver pin.

those pins ruled, I have at least four of them somewhere. i know for sure i have the legend of zelda pin, when i go back to my parents house i will have to dig them up. as for getting them now i have no idea other than ebay as to where to get them

I have the silver Nintendo Power pin in my desk too. Those were the days. Haven't had a subscription in a long long time now.

I may just have to get these from ebay. I was hoping somone on here had some they wanted to sell/trade to me, or at least, a complete list of all of them... Thanks so far guys...

So far, I know I am needing:

Princess Toadstool
Koopa
Luigi

There may be more variations of them, and if anyone had any different ones, let me know! :D

It's kind of funny but I used to collect McDonald's toys. I have a whole attic full of them, and I have the complete collection of Mario toys!

Long time trying on ebay. May as well bump in hopes someone here has a full list or has a few to sell/trade me. I got my mother a digital camera for Christmas, so I will soon be able to take some pics of what ones I have, just to give everbody a good look at what I am talking about!

I think I remember those. If they're what I'm thinking of I had the Mario w/ Starman one, which you already have sorry. I had no idea there were so many. I remember getting excited about getting a Niintendo Power pin back in the day from subscribing

Hey, I've got some of those - Mario jumping, Fire Mario (or is it Luigi?), the Zelda title, and Link crouching. Awesome.

Link crouching? There's one I have never seen. Thanks for the update! I am going to try and track all of these down; I just need to compile a list...

Hi Rig (honestly, probably best you logout now.. this gets really dull)

Would you believe I joined the forum just to answer your question..

I was just searching the net to see if I could track down any pins I hadn't yet come across and came across your posting...

I got hooked on collecting the darn things when I was given the 'collectors box set' : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=49230&item=8157667683&rd=1 for a jokey birthday present.

There are (as far as I can remember) about 26 (may have completey made that number up, but definitely 20ish) official mario'series A' pins (the only series), and the collectors box set, which has some doubles with the series A pins, but some originals also. Series A came in boxes like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=45101&item=3863253705&rd=1 but thats much harder to find than the single pins, and actually doesn't add too much to the value

As NesHavok mentioned, there are a lot of copies out there (I can't believe I can now spot them a mile off - but there are subtle colour differences and lining differences, a rule of thumb: the crappy looking/less colourful ones are generally fake). All of the originals have 'Nintendo' and the date stamped on the back (usually late 1980s), but there are many other official pins that aren't in this series, some that are stamped, some that are. i.e. ones to celebrate aniversaries, E3 pins, company pins who officially used mario in the logo, a sporting series, newer series, etc...

:? .... I currently have about 100 different/original/official mario or nintendo pins and a whole heap of doubles (and fakes) kicking about, so if ya like, I'd be happy to send some your way, because I really have no idea what to do with them (all the originals are pinned to the side of the noticeboard attached to my arcade machine..) but the rest are stuffed in a drawer.

I'll grab a photo of them next time I'm home so you can have a look and make a checklist

If yer just interested in collecting the 'series A' then as far as I can remember there are:

mario on motorbike
m in car
m on skateboard
m running/jumping (arm in air)
m running right with mushroom
above but running left?
luigi running left w mushroom
m running right with star
m standing with arm up
luigi standing with arm up
m with kart flag
m ground pounding
m flying as racoon
m with hammer
princess

link with shield and sword
legend of zelda title+sword
bowser
koopa paratrooper
koopa - hammer bro
piranha plant (generally the 6 hardest to find)

and I'm sure a few I can't remember

If you're still interested when you are looking on ebay change to the advanced search, search for things available to all countries, and search for 'mario pin' /pins + nintendo pin / pins.... should give you more of an idea

And yes, I really, really, really have a life.. just very ill at the moment and my computer is my only friend

heh

There's the Series A list for ya.

 You guys are awesome! I would bug my mother to pick one of these up for me each time we went to town to go shopping; usually once a week, and we had to drive about 30 miles to get to the store! She would usually let me get one, and I remember missing out on the Princess. Now, it has become something that has bugged the crap out of me; I must find these.

That's cool to know that if those are the hardest to find, I have three of them already! :D I have the Legend of Zelda Title, the Hammer Brother, and the Paratroopa. I'm off to ebay!!

Chamaelleo, I just re-read your post, and if you have some you want to get rid of, I would be happy to buy them from you! I listed the ones I currently have somewhere up above, and I am in the process of uploading a pic of them... Let me know, and thanks again for the information! Same for you, subparplasma; thanks! :D

Hey there

Almost immediately after I posted I remembered that you could get the whole list on the back of the boxes, but sadly I'm away from all my pins at the moment so had to use my memory.. didn't do too bad a job I suppose (apart from making a few extra up)! Though I know some of the extras I mentioned are definitely pins, and Nintendo stamped, just not series A I guess!

Good luck with your collecting - I too started out just trying to collect all the Series A from ebay but often I'd see a really nice official pin while searching and couldn't just pass it up, especially as (unlike Disney/Olympic pins and the like) they do seem to have a limit.. I very rarely now (4 years on) see a new pin on ebay/the web - I think I've capped the number of official or officially licensed nintendo pins (mainly mario, but the 5 or so zelda and the few nintendo logos) I've seen at about 125ish so the end is in sight!...

As someone mentioned, the Nintendo Power mag gave pins for subscription and further years of continuous subscription - the pins say 'Team Power' and actually don't have 'Nintendo' branded on them anywhere, so could be anything - I have all three (quite hard to find) but as they have no visual link, I don't hold them in the same regard, even if I've only see the gold pin on the web once!

Anyway, have fun collecting! I shall send you a pic of my doubles when I head back to my parents over the next week :D

I still have my silver and gold Team Power pins too! I haven't been collecting pins that long Rig, so I don't remember the ones you are looking for, but I have a couple that are significantly rarer. One year at TRU, back about 7 or 8 years ago, Nintendo actually paid TRU to have a couple employees be Nintendo sales reps during the height of the Christmas season, and would stand around wearing Nintendo vests that had several Nintendo pins on them and just try to sell Nintendo products (I think it was the mid to late SNES era). They only did it for one year, at least at my store, and I got all the pins off one of the vests before they sent them back to Nintendo. The only 3 of those that I have handy are a silver Killer Instinct logo pin, a gold Donkey Kong holding the Nintendo logo, and a gold Nintendo Video Expert pin. I'm not really looking to get rid of them though...just brag. I can send you pictures of them if you want to drool on them though. :)

I guess I missed out on the Nintendo Power pins. I have subscribed for years now, and I think there was a time long ago when I stopped subscribing; probably when they gave these away! :( A little off-topic, I enjoyed getting their Super Power Supplies catalog back when you would get a few stamps and could buy some Nintendo swag...those were the days.

I don't know if you remember back when Star Fox first came out on the SNES, but they held Star Fox competitions in video game stores using specially designed tournament Star Fox carts that let you play for 5 minutes on a course that had stuff not in the actual game to promote the release of Star Fox. Well, after the contest ended and all the carts were sent back to Nintendo, they started selling those through the Super Power Supplies catalog. That's one of the only things I bought from them. It's pretty awesome...for 5 minutes. :)
