Nintendo played it smart with the VC Controller
maigoyume, daroga: Thanks for the clarification. One less thing to fret about.

Strell: I've got quite enough body hair, thankyouverymuch.
anytime bro ;) besides they did say that it would be backwards compatible for ALL gcn accessories

Yea, i think the seperate wiimote, nunchuck, and VC controller seperatly is good for gamers, not good for non gamers. The point of the Wii is to be user friendly and have every one play. But my point is, with all 3 seperatly, that is 15 dollars saved with the GGC, which is a good deal IMO.

What's bad for non gamers about it? Sure, the base unit is expensive but mom can go into Wal Mart now and buy a cheap attachment rather then paying 80 bucks for a wheel, 30 bucks for a light gun, and so on. Furthermore, I expect a lot of the pre-order bonuses we run into in the future to be really neat cosmetic things that hook into the Wiimote. The wheel that Ubi Soft is putting out is only the beginning.

I'd have to imagine that things will be clearly marked on the packaging. Not that parents read the packaging (See Jimmy getting Mario Sunshine for his PS2, or a 7 year old getting GTA: SA), but even for us gamers a little indication of the controls on the packaging would be nice, especially for cheap, impulse buys down the road.

And as far as the stuff that's out now, the VC and the nunchuck are the only things REQUIRED by games, right? I mean a steering wheel, a gun attachment, these would be cool, but the games can be played without them. And not really in the way that you CAN play Guitar Hero with the Dual Shock, but like really, actually played.
Here's the thing that concerns me: From the pictures I have seen, it looks like the WaveBird receiver might have trouble fitting into the ports as they are inset on the Wii. I could very well be wrong. Hope I am.
If, for whatever reason, the WaveBird receiver won't fit into the GCN ports on the Wii, then I've already got my GCN extention cords ready to go. Granted, it looks slightly odd having a wireless receiver dangling from a wire, but, hey, it works. I'll probably use the extentions anyway, so I can hook up bongos, GBAs, Action Pads and Hori Digitial Controller whenever I need to, since the ports are hiding in the back and all.

Correct. As far as the attachments go, until they release some that include actual functionality, there won't be any requirement.
