Love the headset's design, hate the impracticality Nintendo is forcing. And on top of that it can't even be used in docked mode.
I thought it just used your phone (which is stupid). So no voice chat docked? That's beyond stupid.

The way this headset works is that it attaches to both the phone and the console to output both types of audio to the headset. The phone outputs voice chat, while the console outputs game audio. This is annoying, but works in handheld mode. But if your console is docked, you need to be close enough to it that the cord can reach you from the docked console, which is impractical and messy.

The fact that the Switch requires a phone for voice chat is beyond stupid.  Luckily, I don't play games online so it doesn't really affect me.  But still, I don't know what Nintendo was thinking when they came up with that idea.

Ok cool. Thanks for explaining that. Nintendo is so stupid sometimes. My switch stays docked and is over 6 feet away from my couch. They are lucky they make Zelda & Mario or I'd have been done with them years ago. Lol! The "New" Switch Xl will probably let people use Bluetooth headsets in a couple of years.

Ah man... Nintendo is the bad relationship that keeps us all coming back

Lol I just thinking this. They do things that piss me off and I feel disrespects gamers. Yet, here I am trying to track down SNES classics and switches
That's the Jedi Mind fuck , and they are complete masters in using it on weak minded fools! LOL

Until you guys strengthen your resolve, your going to keep getting manipulated, and coming back for more.

Wait what you have to used a phone to chat online. LOL. Anyways my gamestop bundle ship today. I'm kinda regret buying it now but I'll keep it until Mario comes out, then regift it as a Christmas gift for the nephews  :bouncy:

yep. that's why I bought a wii u in 2017 and hack it with 2TB HD filled with games and emus. I can basically play every single game nintendo has ever released (except switch and 3ds) for free, and I still have about 500GB(?) left for more.

Don't take this the wrong way, but that seems like a waste since just about any modern PC can play emulators.  You don't have to spend all that money on a Wii U to accomplish that.

He may have gotten it cheap, and while I agree a PC is a better emulation option in most cases, the Wii U is essentially a Gamecube and Wii as well, so there are 3 gens of "N" systems that will play games 100% accurately, so depending on other options, it's not a bad one by any means.

EDIT: It's also a slap in the face to "N", and the way they do things(or don't).

The only good reason I can think of for Nintendo to focus on the phone as the source of the chat is to play the Switch while you're outside of the home. You will still need a good wifi connection but you can play multiplayer games on the go.

When your Switch is docked, Nintendo will just assume you will use your home speakers to hear game sound.

The Switch must be looked at as a compromise between handheld and a normal home console. We can't have it all and that's something I just recently came to terms with.

Believe me, if I didn't already have the Xbox and the playstation, I wouldn't have a Switch. But I do so I don't miss the party chat as much. Plus we don't feel the need to strike up a conversation while playing Arms.

It would be pretty funny seeing someone out in public playing a multiplayer game on their Switch and chatting over their phone at the other players.

got basically everything from gamestop using the credits generated from the flips. And I'll continue to do so. I mean I did this with 3ds as well. Heck I even modded a GBA SP with an micro SD slot. All N's manipulative sh*ts are just for laughs.

Well your reason doesn't make any sense to me. A good wifi connection outside the home doesn't necessitate a voice app on the phone.

I think it's family friendly related/teens are always on their phone related/$$$$ related/Japan related.

No young child can pick up a Switch and get a bunch of Xbox Live-type trolls in their ear unless the parent's smartphone is involved.

The way older kids/teens etc communicate these days is thru their phones. So let's put the communication app on the phone. For all the negative reaction to the concept, I see synergies there as well because of how much phones are used to communicate with each other and how often those phones are on (and next to) the person.

I wouldn't doubt if using the app is also cost efficient for Nintendo. Might not have had to build the thing from the ground up. It would in theory have the ability to tie into their mobile games as well. If Nintendo's hardware changes this doesn't have to change.

And then well Japan is their home market. IT's what they know. I think the notion of going online over there is quite different than over here. Practices that are more accepted over here are less accepted or not at all over there. I'm no expert but that's just the gist I get from reading sht.

Which bundle did you order? One of the ones set to ship in 7/21?

Thinking about picking up has been heroes on lunch. Anyone try it out. It has very polarizing reviews. Between broken mess & a decent game.

Seems like Newegg has the Gray in stock, but you have to buy a PS4 with it or something?

Edit: I had to switch to the Desktop site to even see the option. Mobile and the app just don't add it to the cart and don't tell you why it's not.

Anyone that ordered the GS bundles that are shipping, what day did you order? I did mine on 7/8 and still nothing.

All the bundles now are the neon console, I wish I could change mine from gray but I don't want to risk it.

Went to TRU and saw 2 neon Switches. I was so tempted to buy one but I decided to wait since the tax here (Puerto Rico) is 11.5% which is crazy. I'm going to hold out until I can find one on Amazon.

No ones shipping no later than 7/14.
Just okay bundle. Switch, Mario karts, Zelda, Zelda dlc pack 1, some useless wheels(guy told me it was okay to return) and Has Been Heroes digital.

Well how do you play the Switch on a multiplayer platform without the actual Switch console being connected to the internet? Everything you say is also feasible, but there is more to the story than just money and setting up a party chat system.

All I'm saying in my reply to you is that having a Switch on the go with great wifi doesn't explain why they did the voice app.

That's a good opening sentence, but where's the explanation part?

I think I'll just end up returning the gray switch I bought and stick to the wiinu for a while longer

yea I had a switch and got rid of it. I was thinking about grabbing anther but then it hit me the two games I wanna play are on wiiu (zelda and mario kart 8). I'm a wait till they build the library more or possibly a redesign.

I lucked out last night when I went to Target with my wife. She was getting her stuff, and I walked around the toy/electronics departments to occupy my time. They had 3 on the shelf, and the assistant told me they got 8 in that morning. I managed to grab the pro controller and Ultra Street Fighter II. My wife was not happy until I took her to dinner afterwards.

Not really broken with the patches, but it's kind of plain. The gameplay is solid (plays like a puzzle game almost), but the art style kind of sucks IMO.

Highly debating on picking up a Second system. FML

Hello all just a quick question.

I recently purchased this item: https://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-goo...lg-usb-c-cable

It came with the wrong cable. It came with a USB-C to USB-A. I don't want to return as the adapter is worth the price I paid alone. Will that cable charge be slow or should I find a USB-C to USB-C cable to replace it? If so any suggestions?

Amazon or Groupon. I have $11 credit for Groupon so that would be preferred.

Also, someone is selling ARMS for $39. Should I run as fast as possible to buy at that price?

Anybody have luck exchanging the bundled games from GameStop?  I don't care about returning and would gladly side exchange ARMs for BOTW if I end up getting a bundle with the former.

any way to avoid the shipping charges on the bundle from Lamestop? I tried the "saver" coupon and it didnt work.
Technically, those bundles are pre-orders, and GS doesn't allow the SAVER on pre-orders.

You could order in store, and then you would avoid the shipping charges I suppose.

Yea this is a huge turnoff for me. Just copy what MS and Sony have done....can't be that hard right???

Exactly what I realized once I told my head out of the hype! Currently playing FF6 on my PSP so I would only play BOTW at home anyway. Lol
