From what I've seen, the d-pad issue is less of a defect and more of an actual design oversight/issue which is pretty prevalent (hard to tell exactly how prevalent). Even Nintendo has contradicted themselves, as people have sent in controllers with the issue and got back new or "repaired" ones with the same issue, while other people have gotten controllers back from Nintendo with fixed d-pads.

Hopefully Nintendo can get their shit together, but I don't really expect them to release a revised one, if I'm being honest.

Yeah, I don't know how retail works over there, as we get regular restocks weekly at most places. I always see post over at GoNintendo showing how when Japan gets units online, they are gone within 15 or so minutes each time, so yeah, demand over there seems higher, but they may not have been releasing as many over there, so who knows?

I haven't really seen much in the way of standard retail over there, so that may be worse than their online situation. Units are still moving all over, so that's a good thing I guess.

From the looks of it they will hold stock for a week or two and make people line up 1 day instead of every couple of days a week. Something we're seeing this week with Splatoon 2 where BB/Walmart/Gamestop are holding stock for friday (just like they did for MK8D release).

What I find disheartening about this is that if 3k people lined up and only 250 got a console that's 90% of people didn't get anything for their time and effort... I'd wager 10-20% of those people will never line up again due to the shitty experience of wasting time for nothing and that's potential customers lost by Nintendo at least for now. Will they pick up a switch? Sure probably next year when stock sorts itself out from the looks of it... which is again, disheartening.

I ended up just returning it to wally world. I wasn't comfortable opening up the controller. Im fine with the joycons for now. I also have a 8bitdo pad that I hear works. I only have tetris & shovel knight so those will do for now. I was suprised reading the comments on YouTube about how many people had the same issue. Very disappointed in Nintendo. Hopefully they fix that design flaw. I'll want a pro controller for mario, xenoblade & fire emblem.

A month ago there were $63 in store at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Got one on vacation when I visited one looking for a movie so not one near me to check again. Figure it was the best deal I'd see before the Holidays

I went to a GameStop the other day and they had like 5 used ones just sitting there. I'm guessing people are using the joycons more than they thought they would and trading the pro controllers in. Anyhow as the other person stated above gamestops have a lot of used ones that can't be too old.
 
Won (well collected a bunch of points for) one of the custom lime green Mountain Dew original Xboxes back in the day.   I don't use it anymore but had it hooked up until recently and still used it once in a while, now it's in storage.  Should probably sell it but it's tough to give that one up.

What a world we live in when $63 is the sale price for a Ninty controller.

I always check pawn shops, sometimes you can get a good controller for considerably less.

 
Check your local gamestops today if you're looking for a switch. Some got restocked yesterday and even more got restocked today (all gray). Could be even more stores getting stock leading up to splatoon.

you bought a multi bag of chips that had codes printed on them. Enter the code online and instantly tell you if you were a winner or not.

They gave away 1 per hour for the duration of the contest. I never bought any chips i just sent in 7 post cards with my info on them and they emailed me the codes.

I was going to say they were sold out everywhere too. But I just looked on GameStop, and they're back up on their site.

They had initially sold out on GS and the only way you could get them through GS was to buy some stupid Splatoon 2 accesories bundle. I guess they got rid of the bundle and decided to put the controllers back up on the site.

well seing how the xbox one controller is $59.99 then you have to buy the rechargeable battery the pro controller is right in line if not a few bucks cheaper.

Yeah I don't hate the pro controller, it's a great controller and has amazing battery life, but it does have a few key issues that make that price hard to justify. Plus nintendo is too easy to make jokes about lol.

 
Apparently Super Mario Odyssey went down to $48.50 on Amazon earlier today but I missed it.

Quick question for anyone who uses Amazon Prime - if I had pre-ordered the game at the $48.50 price, would I have received 20% off that price, making the final cost $38.80?

No, Prime discount is 20% off MSRP. Yes, that is as stupid as it sounds.

 
That is pretty stupid.

A few people on Reddit are saying they got a customer service rep to give them the 20% discount off the sale price.  If the price ever goes down again, I'll have to see if I can convince them to do the same for me.

Yeah, we bought the multi bag of chips, and by the time we needed another one, the promo was over. So we only had the one try, and that one was a loser.

I knew about the contest but we never buy those mini bags of chips. So i looked through the house and found 7 stamps and that's how many i sent in.You could enter in 3 codes a day. First code got you 1 play then second code got you 2 more plays and the third code a day got you 3 plays. I ended up winning after only entering trying 4 or 5 time maybe. Once i won all my other codes were taken off the account.

I always played in the middle of the night or real early in the morning to help better my odds.

Hell, "N" just updated the Wii U's firmware for the first time in ages a few days ago, and for what reason, I have no clue. I've always said they "major" in "minor" things, so updating the Wii U was time well spent. And we wonder why the things that need the most attention and care, never seem to get it.

I mean, Zelda is the only game left worth playing, and they've updated that directly a few times, and the frame rate is beyond abysmal. Honestly, I never even notice frame rates in 95% of games, and I notice it in Zelda, and on top of that, I had the game freeze and lock up on me a few days ago(maybe that's what the update was for), which I don't think I've ever had a "N" game freeze before, EVER!

I wouldn't sell it as they don't go for enough money, not to mention that even after collecting the points to buy it they still sold out of 2,000 units in like 30 min. I got one of those back in the day and will never sell it even if I am not playing it.

Thanks for the tip! I was able to pick up one today (two in stock), wish it was the Neon Switch but I'll settle for gray.

However upon opening it when I got home, I saw a clear fingerprint on the right side of the LCD. Now I'm hoping it was just a GameStop employee just checking if everything was there and not a return. Everything seems to work fine for now.

 
Double thanks! Was able to snag a pair of neon joycons on Gamestop. Now to decide whether I keep the pro controller or return it? Anybody prefer the pro controller to the joycons?
