Nintendo Wi-Fi Dongle

also what is the real name of that kind of device because I want to buy one that works for everything(not just nintendo stuff) and I don't know what its called. ....there are others ....right?

I assume any usb wifi adapter would work. Though you need one that's capable of running in ad-hoc mode. I got a little hawking one that works great, though you need to switch it from infastructure to ad-hoc mode in the software settings.

ok so I did alittle research on: usb wifi adapter. and all the ones I saw require you to have some kind of pre existing wireless setup. is the nintendo one like that? because I thought you just plug it in and it makes a regular conection to a wireless one. I don't have a wireless router or anything so if you need one im sol:cry:

Good news. The Nintendo Wi-Fi adaptor works fine with wired setups. That's what I use to connect the Wii to the internet. It can be a bit of a pain to setup sometimes, but once it's set up you're off the races. Works simultaniously with the DS too!

So i just plug it into my usb, and i can be online on my computer, wii, and ds all at once? or just the wii and ds?
im not computer literate. time for Wii!
Also does the speed and stuff when using the dongle make your online connection with the wii slower or the same as if it was wired to the system.

Well, I thought it only worked with wired, but it sounds like people assume it only works with a wireless. Good news for me :) , yes I know it has to run in ad-hoc mode, as Im in infrastructure mode right now.

It should work with any Nintendo Device I assume, but I wouldnt know, I dont have a Wii.

Yes, just plug into a USB slot, install the driver disc included with the adaptor, and you're all set. You just have to make sure your router is compatible with the Wii and you check the Nintendo website to verify. Also the DS, Wii and your PC can go online all at once as the driver software allows for multiple connections. As for speed, it won't match the spped as if it's physically wired through an ethernet cable, but since the Wii doesn't have the option the dongle should be fine.
