No DVD = No Wii...for awhile!!

Lol I don't even know what a Troll is, and furyk just learn to read, man you're stupid! Ok here I'll make it simple:

- Parents want a DVD/ VHS COMBO! Which is 80 bucks.
- Wii Costs around 275-300 Canadian, - 80 bucks = 195-220 Canadian
- I told my parents I could hook up the Wii and our OLD Combo together so we get a vhs and dvd player at the same time.
- They think if I can do it, then fine, and they'd be willing to help pay for the rest of the Wii, possibly for my BDay
- They don't know much about technology, so if we spend 30 bucks on a DVD player their is no need for a Wii, hence they don't help me pay for it.

UNDERSTAND? I hope now you can get that through your skull, tard.

I can understand being pissed about the Wii not have DVD playback because you can't play DVDs. But being pissed it doesn't have DVD playback because your parents won't help pay for it does sound pretty immature. Especially if you're a 16-year old kid that can get a job.

Yeah, people complining about trivial things over and over again is obnoxious, isn't it?

It's not even that so much. It's just the fact that he's doing it in such an annoying way that is bothering me. I'm a bit upset now. I could say that I've never disliked any Canadians I knew before today. Now, not so much.

I really don't mind that the Wii doesn't have DVD playback. It was actually a big selling point for me in buying a PS2 a while back when my DVD player died, but I like Nintendo's focus on the games... and apparently the news and weather.

An Internet Troll ... no I don't. I guess I could google it because I don't see a point as I'm sure it has nothing to do with me. David you're the idiot, just go on a thread and say how you feel about yourself to others...not very constructive.

Oh and judy where you said "Wii" I meant "PS2", It's just that the DVD Part of the combo doesn't work, but the VHS part does.

Anyway I'm still getting a PS2, since I might as well, and I MIGHT get a Wii maybe in summer or very maybe at Christmas...but most likely summer which is later than I hoped. Oh well with the ToysRUs games on sale this week and a PS2 I should be busy till summer anyway considering I'm taking the hardest courseload possible in University...well compared to anyone else I know or have talked to lol.

I didn't know that they pulled off DVD playback for the Wii. No big deal.

Actually, the Xbox 360 DVD player is pretty good, and I use it for most of my playing duties. It seems to output video-based content interlaced and film content progressive, which results in excellent playback and video quality. On my higher-end standalone, I have to manually switch between progressive and interlaced depending on the DVD I watch.

OH MY GOODNESS I'm so sick of this thread I didn't know everyone would go insane over me wanting DVD capabilites for the Wii!!! Just close it PLEASE LOL! I'm sick of having to defend myself, and no I'm not that plastic smurf thing  I mean I don't mind getting PS2...I get to try out Kingdom hearts and....kingdom hearts.....er...oh and that new Okami game looks pretty interesting.

Buying a last-gen system at the dawn of the next-gen is a wise move. You can get some killer deals on all the best games. I'd maybe suggest waiting until the PS3 and Wii launch to wait and see if places clearance out the Ps2 and/or GC stuff for even less than you can get it now. $20 for a GH title is great, $7.98 on clearance is better. ;)

That being said, the PS2 is not a great DVD player, the GC doesn't play DVDs, and the Xbox is an ok player but HUGE. In my point of view, if you've got to have a game system / dvd player combo, you don't have much going for you.

I dunno, daroga.. I've found the PS2 DVD playback to be adequate. Helluva lot better than the cheap-o DVD player I had before that. The remote control is pretty clunky but workable. It's also nice to have a player so small (the slim PS2 is about 1/5 the size of my old DVD player!) that also plays games.

It's not terrible, but even the cheapest DVD players seem to do a better job, especially with as prone to DREs as the PS2 is, the less wear-and-tear you can put on the laser assembly, the better. $30 is worth not accelerating the PS2's death, I think. But that's just me. :)

Although, I did just learn something. Wasn't aware that newer PS2 units supported Progressive Scan for the DVD playback. That's cool.

Hmm cool well it doesn't have to be top of the line as long as its clear and doesn't skip or anything. I'm hoping to be able to get it for 100 Canadian (currently 130) by november sometime...considering october is mid terms and I won't have much game time anyway. November should be a little more free. Ya and I'm excited about getting cheap deals at least...although I still want to eventually try the Wii controls.

That's what I've beend doing withe the Xbox. I've got about 45 games for it, and I've never paid more than $15 for any of them.
