Honestly, who cares? There's plenty of time to put out kiosks. Right now, I want them putting every PS3 in consumer hands until they get to the point where they have excess PS3's on the shelves. Then they can start advertising via kiosks.

I think the kiosks worked well in MS's favor, especially COD2. That game was on no one's radar until the kiosks were out. They do help.

In Sony's case, they don't have 10,000 units to spare to put in every retailer out there. There is no excuse for the Wii though.

Yeah this is really weird for Nintendo since they have manufatured over 2 million Wii's already right now.

Yeah considering how many are going on ebay or if your PS3 breaks you wont get a replacement for......who knows. i just wana see this thing in action and judge it hands on

I think Nintendo is still trying to figure out devious ways to keep me from stealing a Wii-mote from their Kiosk.

i thought wombat said the wii had a kiosk setup at the nintendo store in nyc, and that i was basically impossible to steal the controller

i should have some vids from Digital Life in NYC saturday but dont know where to host them for you guys, i know ill at least play the Wii if not the PS3

Well last year we didn't get a 360 kiosk til about 3 weeks before launch in the store. That aside however, I don't think most kiosks do a whole lot to sell a system anymore, if anything they sell games. So I think both the big N and Sony are playing their hands catiously to see how things unfold a little more. Actually now that I think about the Nintendo rep said we should get them in the last couple weeks of October, but I don't trust her at all, all the reps are full of nothing but misinformation.

A Dreamcast in a Sam's Club playing Sonic Adventure, and then some videos of NFL 2K playing in a Babbage's sold me on the Dreamcast, when I originally had zero interest.

Now it's time to talk demo kiosks. Sony will send out 15,000 kiosks that will debut October 26. They will feature Sony Bravia HD monitors. "Universally, PS products will have the lead-in position. They will have dominant shelf space," he says. He also says the kiosks will be networked so they can stream game demos and they'll no longer be dependent on someone carrying a disc into the store and loading it up.

That's pretty cool about it automatically downloading new demos and whatnot.

But I wonder if those 15,000 kiosks are being taken out of the initial 400,000 shipment, or if those systems were never included in that number.

Woo~ 15,000 PS3 Kiosks will launch next week October 24th(Thursday). Can't wait to play!

Again, why does Sony have to do ANYTHING? People who wanted a PS3 already have one. They don't need to spend a dime on any type of advertising until next year by the EARLIEST.
