dam dude nice buys, hows the zeta collection
I dunno... It doesn't ship until the 14th officially. I just ordered today so I should get one. I know people say its limited. But they say that about all anime. Anime, frankly, doesn't sell. So there shouldn't be a supply problem.

I remember when they said that about the Cowboy Bebop Boxed sets. Only 15,000 made. And even after a year there were still boxes at my local FYE and BB. It's gone now but it stayed around for awhile.

very true, when you get it fill me in on how it is.

What do you people do for a living? There's no way I could afford to spend $1,000 on DVDs and I make a decent amount. I must suck at finances. How do you do it?

That looks a lot like me, but I got more TV and US movies, and less anime. In fact, last night I went to Costco and picked up Jetsons, Flintstones, Top Cat, Meaning of Life (which I probably already have), The Time Machine (heard it sucked, but I'd at least like to see it once), Sneakers (love that movie), and Dodgeball. I had already gotten Dodgeball from BB for the headband, but I wanted the T-shirt, too (now someone needs to pack in a pair of Dodgeball gym shorts, and I'll be set).

I couldn't begin to list my recent DDD, Amazon, and B hauls. It is an addiction.

Well, I saved about $2000 for Christmas starting around August. I put $200 aside a month plus an extra $600 in October and I worked some overtime In November for an extra $400 or so.

I also get five paychecks this month my last paycheck will go straight to savings.

I really make crap. I'm hoping to get a new job that pays at least 55k. Right now I only make 35k But my monthly expenses work out to about...

$700 Rent
$300 Utilities/Insurance
$200 Loans (I really should spend $300)
$400 Living Expenses (Groceries, Gas, Dry Cleaning, petty cash)
$200 Savings
$400 Discretionary (Half usually goes to my CC. Other half for luxury spending and essentials. Games, Occasional Oil change or car service. Gym Membership. Etc)

I don't think they were around that long at least nowehere near me, but the resale value of them is great, so if Zeta ends up like that you'd be in good shape.

I did some of the damage at Target like you did, Admiral, though no where else. I still need to pick up Buffy Season 7 & South Park Season 1, since they were OOS and I picked up rain checks for them.

Oh half is for me and half are gifts.

Let me put it this way, most of the Anime is for me. As well as Monty Python and a couple of the TV series. The rest are gifts.

That's a pretty good budget. $700 for rent? Where do you live? That's a huge money saver right there. An apartment in the city goes for $1,500 easy so that was part of my problem I guess. You should start looking to buy an apartment/condo/house as soon as you can. I waited for 6 years after college to do so and it was a big mistake. I could have been building equity somewhere - even if it was a craphole - and sold for a huge profit. Still, you spent probably around 4% of your yearly take home money in the last three weeks on DVDs (conservatively - estimating you make $25k after taxes). That seems like a lot but you are saving money and you have lots of cool DVDs so what the hell do I know? :p

I live in a crapy one bedroom apt outside of Newark. It's not great but I don't want to spend a lot of money on rent.

I'm waiting to get a professional job to buy a home. Right now I'm a temp. My goal is to save $10k a year for three years and put that down on something for $150k. Then in another three years move up to something woth around $250.

The way I see it if I get this job that just opened up I'll probably make an extra $15k After taxes. Ten of that will go towards a home and five for retirement. I'll also up my insurances.

My original goal was to wait until I collected 30k and get a place and save my first time home buyers benefit. But that was two years ago. Now that I'm a little older I'll probably use my first time home buyers to get something cheap with little money down. Then combine the current rent plus extra $10k to put $18k in it a year.

As for DVD's... To be honest I don't buy a bunch of DVD's usually. I'll pick up the occasional Anime bargin. Let me put it this way, throughout the year I probably only spent $250-$300 dollars on DVD's. Maybe $150 on Anime previously. $30 on the first three seasons of the Simpsons. $25 for Indiana Jones. Oh, and I got Seinfeld for $40 as another gift. Also a couple of those 415 boxed sets previously. Other than that, that's all I remember buying in the past eleven months.

damn i personally never buy dvd's...i never watch anything more than once..especially tv shows.

Dude, 20% down is the ideal way to go when buying a house. At 20% down you will Not pay any PMI on your note. PMI is Premium Mortage Insurance which is another way banks make more money. PMI is not for the consumer's benefit but for the banks benefit. PMI does nothing for the consumer and is just another fee for the bank to collect. Just my 2 cents, thought you might want to know about PMI if you don't already!
