It's as good as any
Sure is! Especially if you weren't really interested in the game in the first place.

That'd be like playing a GTA game because Samuel L. Jackson did some of the voice acting. Or DMC4 because Johnny Yong Bosch voices Nero.

:whee:

I got a replacement disc and it works!!! It was definately the disc, but the gamestop worker was either lying or blind. He kept insisting the disc was fine despite the fact that there was obviously discolored.
Yep.

You've played The Darkness, right?
I played the demo. It was alright.

You're getting live again for Gears, right?

And I'm not sure. I'd really like to, but I'm living in the dorms, so my 360 is staying at home with my brothers. I *could* get a new one for myself, but I'll have to see how things work on UT's network.
I hope I can work it out...
College networks are AWFUL for using Live.
Dang.

Maybe I could open a proxy through my home network or something.

Yeah, I played the demo because he did the voice :D He also did some sound fx for Portal.

Sucks about the network thing. Are you planning on getting any arcade games that are coming out soon?

Geo Wars 2 is next week. That's a must for me.

Sometimes, I forget that Last.fm is based out of the UK...and then I get a message like this:
"We’re sorry, but our database servers are currently overloaded. Please enjoy a quick cup of tea and then try refreshing this page."

I'll be picking up 1942 sometime this weekend, I hope.

I can grab a month of Live before school starts though and get some playing in. Coop 1942 is hella fun, if the arcade version is any measure of the XBLA version.

Well, I know URI's network sucked. But maybe UT's will be better.

If not, here's hoping that proxy stuff works.
Same here.

I need to cut back on my free freelancing stuff.
Do you write anything other than things about music?

I am not really into music but would like to read your features for fellow CAG support.

Are you still taking over 9,000 hours of classes for college?
Are you still taking over 9,000 hours of classes for college?
Where'd you get that? :O

I'm taking 15. And only one of those is hard.

edit: Hard as in I-don't-have-a-prereq-and-it's-going-to-kick-my-ass hard though. :(

Well, got an X-ray (three actually) and the bones look okay, but my kneecap was definitely out of place. He drained more than 120mL of blood from my knee (half a cup) and that should hopefully allow my kneecap to settle back in place, but he said I most likely have a torn ligament and possibly a bone fracture because there was oily/fatty deposits in the blood.

Awesome. Need an MRI now. This shit'll take at least three weeks of down time. Hopefully Aleve does something because he wouldn't give me anything.

Also, that "last lecture" professor died, that's a shame.

I know you've probably said before, but where will you be attending? Also, 15 credit hours is definitlely do-able. IMO, 18-20(Depending on the number of labs) should be the max, and if you are going to take that much, you probably shouldn't be working if you plan on doing well in all classes.

Yeah, solely about music. Mostly CD reviews with some concert coverage coming soon. I can link you if you want.
My college network rocked on Live. I usually hosted and was getting 60 or under pings on everything.
Lucky.

University of Texas at Austin, for my undergrad. Doubling in physics and philosophy.

I kinda-sorta-really want to go to Paris for my graduate degree though, but I don't know how their physics is--and I don't know French.

It's not really worth going international to study unless you are going to be with a specific professor/program or you are going to be living in the region where you study abroad for a while after. Hell, going to college out of state is expensive, much less outside the country.

But I love France, and living in Paris would be $. :(

And graduate/doctorate degrees can be had for little to no money, if you can wrangle it, what with fellowships/scholarships/grants and all.

I seem to remember you talking about taking 20+ hours. Maybe it's just bad memory.

That hard class will probably get more attention than all of your other classes, combined.

Well, my 15 credit hours amount to 20 or so hours in class per week; maybe that's what you remember?

And yeah, I'll definitely spend the most time on it, but more than the rest combined? I sure hope not.
Would anyone have a what.cd invite?

Budgemang, where are you. I got questions about the Gunslinger. This shit doesnt make sense.
We'll make you fit.

I've got a chain saw if you can't get through his thick head.:D

I'm thinking of trading in GTA4 with the Gears bonus credit

$42 isn't bad and I haven't touched it since I beat it and got the Liberty City Minute cheez

This one is $$
White people have always been renowned for having ridiculously large music collections. So when file sharing gave white people a chance to acquire all the music they ever wanted, it felt as though it was an earned right and not a privilege. When (not if) you see a white male with a full iPod, ask him if all of his music is legal. If he does not immediately launch into a diatribe about his right to pirate music, you might have to nudge him a bit by saying “do you think that’s right?” The response will be immediate and uniform.

He will likely rattle off statistics about how most musicians don’t make any money from albums, it all comes from touring and merchandise. So by attending shows, he is able to support the musicians while simultaneously striking a blow against multinational corporations. He will proceed to walk you through the process of how record labels are set up to reward the corporation and fundamentally rob the artist of their rights, royalties and creativity. Prepare to hear the name Steve Albini a lot.

Advanced white people will also talk about how their constant downloading of music makes them an expert who can properly recommend bands to friends and co-workers, thus increasing revenues and exposure. So in fact, their “illegal” activities are the new lifeblood of the industry.
When they have finished talking, you must choose your next words wisely. It is considered rude to point out the simple fact that they are still getting music for free. Instead you should say: “Wow, I never thought of it like that. You know a lot about the music industry. What bands are you listening to right now? Who is good?”

This sentence serves two functions: it helps to reassure the white person that they are your local “music expert,” something they prize. Also, it lets them feel as though they have convinced you that their activities are part of a greater social cause and not simple piracy.
If you bring up this issue with white person who says “nah bro, I don’t give a shit, Dave Matthews has enough money as it is.” You are likely dealing with wrong kind of white person.
In the even more rare situation where someone says “it’s all paid for, and it’s all transferred from vinyl.” You have found an expert level white person and must treat the situation carefully. Because of the availability of music online, a very strict social hierarchy has been created within white culture whereby someone with a large MP3 collection is considered “normal,” a large CD collection is considered to be “better,” and a person with a large vinyl collection is recognized as “elite.”
These elite white people abhor the fact that music piracy has made their B-sides, live performances, and bootlegs available to the masses. Their entire life’s work has been stripped of its rarity in terms of both object and sound on the record. The best thing you can say to them is: “vinyl still sounds better.”

However, it is recommended that you do not let this conversation drag much longer. If you let them continue talking to you they are likely to spend hours talking to you about bands you’ve never heard of and providing you with a weekly mix CD of rarities that you do not want.
