I went in yesterday to see if the Best buy in west LA got the rest of their units(they purchased 140, only got something like 108) and they said the second shipment was not until march.

This may or may not change, and this was just coming from the guy at the front door(the greeter) but this really sucks if it is true.

The reason why i think this may be legit was because sony had so much trouble filling their orders for the launch.

I think they should have just pushed the launch back 7 or 8 months(or more) if this really is the case. I looked through the first page and didnt see anyone else post this, so go ahead and lock if it is old news.

I'd take that news with a grain of salt.

I mean, he was a door greeter, after all. However, if anyone should be notified after management with regards to the PS3 it would probably be the first person customers see when they enter, so it's possible (although unlikely) he may be accurately informed.

However, considering how Sony fell well short on this launch I figure they'd be working overtime to get as many units on shelves as possible. It may not be until March when the PS3 is a common site in stores, but I'd be shocked if stores don't get another shipment (even if it's small) until then.

you could go back the next six days and get six different answers. I would just check back as much as often you may get surprised

My local stores all seem to resonate that this another shipment this year is "out of the question" while a few of them mention shipments in the second form coming a bit into next year as well.

well I hope that's the case for me lol, I still have 2 more to sell.
I guess we'll see as xmas rolls along.

But yeah Dracula, sucks that you still havent gotten yours esp since you were there waiting. How long did you wait?

Thats not how its going at the BB I work at. We actually got a few more 20gigs in on Saturday. It was only 6 or 8 of them, but it was still a new shipment.

March? That's just fucking idiotic. Sorry if this offends you, but I can't believe anyone registered and posting here would actually believe that. While I personally think March will effectively be the 'secondary launch', i.e. when you have half a fighting chance to get one off the shelf if you pop in on the right day at the right time, there will be more shipments in the next 3+ months. Particularly to Best Buy. This would include, I have to believe, a 'Launch 1.1' at Best Buy in mid-December, just like the 360 did last year, as well as perhaps random smatterings of consoles here and there.

The PS3 won't become--it's all relative--'easy' to score until May, I'd wager. Hey, by then they might actually have more games worth owning than you can count on one hand...with the pinky lopped off!

Actually, considering how Wal-Mart sells more games than anyone else, I would tend to think that they would get more consoles on a more often basis than Best Buy.

Then again, I also think there is a slight possibility that the Best Buy in question may indeed not get another shipment until March and as a result am a "fucking [idiot]." So what the hell do I know?

That's stupid. Stores will be getting PS3s every week regularly from now on. The question you need to ask yourself is when. I only hope if I don't find out first that someone posts it here.

Anybody know when gamestop/ebgames will get their next shipment? Supposedly it's supposed to be in December before Christmas, but does anybody know what date?

March is the same date that big box retailers gave when the same question was asked last year after launch for Xbox 360. In other words it is generic answer #274.

No, actually there isn't, barring Resistance coming to real-life, modern-day fruition.

and as a result am a "fucking [idiot]." So what the hell do I know?

You know that I'm going to type "Hey, you said it, not me."

*--Just one console constitutes a "shipment", let alone a half-dozen. "Shipment" does not have to be the same quantity as launch number unless specified as such. Also, I don't think even the most dire-sounding EBGamestop last year actually got their second shipment of 360s in anywhere near as late as March, and I know Best Buys got another big one in the week before Christmas. Hence the "Launch 1.1". (And yes, people camped for that one, too.)

Yeah, Best Buy will not get a single PS3 for 4 months. Makes sense to me. Publishers must be thrilled to tap the potential 200,000k PS3 owners in the US with their software. Its gonna be a great Holiday for them.

i waited for 24 hours and didnt get anything. Of course i was just planning on ebaying it anyways, and the core systems are even fetching that much on ebay. The reason i will keep checking back is because i figure they might get a premium or 2 in the coming weeks.

The only problem is that i can only go in when the store opens on saturdays, the other days i guess i can go at lunch, but i would have missed out by then. And i suspect that this is YMMV, and that some stores will get smaller shipments over the coming weeks and months(1 or 2 consoles will show up on random days)

didnt say i believed it, but that is what they told me so take it for what its worth. Again this wasnt someone in the games department, this was just the greeter.

yes that is what i was thinking, and will continue to show up once every few days until i actually get one.

maybe, but again it may not happen until january or so.

resistence, call of duty 3, i guess oblivion and loads of sports games(tiger woods, madden etc). The thing that i like about new consoles is that the sports games look freaking amazing. And they drop in price very fast. But that is just me, i could be alone in that opinion.

The guy you talked to is an idiot.
The "Greeter" dont even look up inventory numbers. there job is loss prevention and to stand there and view the cameras . also greet u as you come in if there bored.

So he has NO CLUE what he was saying. much like 90% of employees at all retail stores.

There will be weekly shipments of ps3's throughout north america.
The trick is to be at the store when they get them in and put the systems on the shelfs for sale. Dont expect more then 6-10 systems per week until after new years.

So instead of he guy telling you the truth. i.e a few units every week.which you more then likely wont be able to buy because they will sell out within minutes of being put on the shelf. he decides to give you a blanket BS answer to your question. Its a common practice.

Anyone heard if there are likely to be more for Black Friday, or are stores more likely to save them until after?
