CNN MARKS CHENEY: NETWORK FLASHES 'X' OVER VP'S FACE DURING LIVE SPEECH

**Exclusive**

At 11:04:45 AM ET Monday CNN was airing Vice President Dick Cheney's speech live from the American Enterprise Institute in Washington -- when a large black 'X' repeatedly flashed over the vice president's face!

The 'X' over Cheney's face appeared each time less than a second, creating an odd subliminal effect.

As this DRUDGE REPORT screen capture reveals, while one 'X' flashed over Cheney's face CNN ran a headline at the bottom of its screen: "CHENEY: I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS WRONG TO CRITICIZE."

One top White House source expressed concern about what was aired over CNN.

"Is someone in Atlanta trying to tell us something?"

A CNN spokesman did not return repeated calls late Monday night.

Can't wait to see CNN spin this one.

So an X, which may or may not have had any meaning and any suggestion that it was intentional it purely conjecture, is torpedoing credibility?

edit: Not sure how accurate, but its from a site dedicating to debunking the liberal media bias:

On FoxNews Monday night, Drudge said the "X" was shown repeatedly for about 1/15th of a second, too quick to see without slowing down the tape. I'm sure CNN's explanation will be very interesting.

UPDATE 23:55 from Matthew Sheffield: TVNewser has CNN's explanation:

Upon seeing this unfortunate but very brief graphic, CNN senior management immediately investigated. We concluded this was a technological malfunction not an issue of operator error. A portion of the switcher experienced a momentary glitch. We obviously regret that it happened and are working on the equipment to ensure it is not repeated.

Gasp! The telecenter was closed!

You know what's so great about CNN's explination.

Their credibility is already so damaged and challenged that even if they're telling the truth millions of people still won't believe them.

You know, I was thinking of that as I can't sleep waiting for 10AM and my 360.

I remember all the hubub on the nightly MSM propoganda, er um, newscasts about how the way Democrats zoomed in and out of the screen for like 8 frames out of 30 frames in one second of video had "rats" filling up the screen and the countless interviews with "experts" about subliminal advertising. I can't remember the group or candidate who produced this commercial.

I do recall the absolute fuming outrage from Democrats about it though. They got angrier over that ad than they did over being called tax and spenders, socialists, anti-Americans, baby killers etc. It was actually very amusing to me.

I found this transcript of the Cheney video prior to the X:

Richard Karn: Welcome back to the Feud. We did a survey of 100 people and the top 7 answers are on the board. Name an outcome of the Iraqi invasion.

Dick Cheney: (buzz) We will be greeted as liberators?

RK: Let's see if it's up there. "Liberators" - survey says...

"This is the vice president of the United States. It is rather serious to be putting black 'Xs' over his face," online journalist Matt Drudge said on tonight's "Hannity & Colmes" program on the Fox News Channel. "I felt it rather alarming that this is subliminally being sent out over the airwaves. ... I'm just knocked out."

You tell them Drudge, the truth is out there.

Hey PAD - you better get those aluminimum hats ready, it looks like your conservative buddies are taking the liberal media conspiracy to the next level. How soon until those filthy liberals learn mind control and start adding sedatives to the water?

Are these the millions of people who only believe FOX news?

The X was on the screen for 1/15th of a second and is a common glitch that happens regularly during live TV broadcasts.

THOSE LIBERUL BASTARDS! THEY ARE SUBVERTING AMERICAN DEMOCRACY! GITMO FOR THEM ALL!!!

Let's check with the REAL American's to see what they're saying...

Update II: This graphics guy has isolated the text ("Transition begins after 5 frames of black") and convinces me it was a glitch. A dumb one.

But really just a glitch.

(Can a technical glitch be smart or 'dumb'?)

Damn you photobucket! - edit.

It's a video transition screen. Even your freeper boybuddy "A Political Teen" admits as much. (After he posted a FAKED version of it, awesome).

So PADDY, do you hit yourself in the face when your knee jerks like that?

This thread is awesome..

Next PAD will post about the liberal conspiracy that is breaking up Rush Limbaugh's show with "commericals".

Ugh.
Do people still believe subliminal advertising, such as this, works? Oh well, can't expect everyone to keep up on 30 year old science.
Agreed. I don't see what all the fuss is about. There's an excellent page on www.snopes.com about subliminal adverts.

Learn to keep your bullshit in one post

On the subject at hand, looks like a mistake to me, nice of you to waste your time and energy trying to make something out of nothing though, as usual.

most likely explanation and most reasonable is that it was a glitch. i mean if cnn really wanted to do some subliminal thing they could have done something a lot more subtle like showing negative stories on their little news ticker thing during his speech.
