Not a great start for CAG this year

William Smith

CAGiversary!
I haven't seen one deal here so far that isn't fairly typical and nothing that can touch last years stuff. What's going on? 15 64 games for $50? If it were 64 64 games for $15 I'd probably pass cuz I already got the best ones. I'm getting the feeling this site is most helpful to exploit temporary glitches of $5 games that seem to be fixed by the time I get to them anyway... I'll keep checking CAG anyway but it's not the best start for a new year. I figured there would be PLENTY of sites trying to dump off/give away games that were overstock from last year, I've been wrong.

Damn it. CheapyD was supposed to get EB and Gamestop to have special 3 for 1 sales for CAG members. I guess he hasn't gotten around to it yet.

:D

I mentioned this before, but in the past month or so I've gotten:

iNinja, $9.99
Beyond Good and Evil, $9.99
Summer Heat Volleyball, $4 (free + shipping)
Panzer Dragoon Orta, $13

All of these were thanks to deals posted here, and they were not "glitches" as you put it...if you ask me those are pretty screamin' deals, and I wouldn't have gotten a single one of them were it not for CAG.

yeah ive gotten damn good deals this year too

i ninja for 10
mmbn 2 +3 for 7 each
did some nice trades on here

i think theres some other stuff but this years been pretty good for the 1.75 month theres been

not a good start?? so how do you explain my still SEALED list of games:

Goblin Commander -$10
INinja - $10
Onimusha 2 -$10
FF X-2 -$25 (ultimate electronics deal remember?)
BloodRayne - $5
Dark Cloud2 - $20
Arc the Lad - $10
Xenosaga - $15
Jak 2 - $20
Silent Hill 3 -$20

..and do i even have to mention the loads of $5 games i got from Circuit City?

Holy crap, that reminds me that I have a bag of $5 games from Circuit City that I put in a closet and forgot all about. Bloodrayne, Freaky Flyers, Robotech, who knows what else. Again, all thanks to CAG. Which, clearly, RULES.

I don't know about you but this is the best site I have ever found! Great people/ funny stuff? And very cheap ass deals! I wouldn't have found any of these deals for myself! 49.99 for a game ok! BUt no I can get them from 5-20 on here! Thank you all for the info and posts! This guy needs to be tied to a chair and beat DOWN!

Yeah, this site is pretty cool. I've gotten only one deal from it so far, but that's because I've been short of money for awhile. But, whenever I try to trade, the trade always falls through and I don't end up reaching a final agreement :( . Hey, but atleast I get to show off my COOL avatar, oh yeah!

yea, i've only been able to get onto 2 deals so far, but i think this site is great. peeps are funny and the deals are awesome. it's much quicker on the deals than other gaming websites and it's a closer community than fat wallet.

I found stuff like the Feaky Flyers deals etc., but it's nothing I wouldn't haven't noticed on a visit to Circuity City. BG&E is already $20 saving $10 isn't that BIG of a deal. I was commenting on good games that are like $30 off etc., not 'fair' games like Bloodrayne that really aren't worth buying at any price.

This site seems to have devolved into who can get poor games the cheapest.

Well, you can't just expect to pick up good, recent games at 75% off MSRP. The only games that tend to see big price slashes are the ones that don't sell well or are just plain bad. But as the saying goes, one man's trash is another's treasure. Just because some games aren't worth it to you at any price doesn't mean that someone else won't appreciate the deals.

Couldn't have said it better myself :)

BECAUSE ITS NOT THE HOLIDAY SEASON

People are not spending money right now... So sales aren't that hot. It's the retail lull right now, thats why there arent any hot deals. Simple as that. Companies cant afford the the overhead that a sale like that could cause right now. CAG was lucky that they grew during such an amazing holiday season.

You don't see any Day After Easter sales events, do you?

a) Considering that most of the Circuit City games were not marked at the actual selling price, that there was simply a nebulous sign saying "Game Clearance - 50% Off" with absolutely NO other indication on any of the eligible titles, how would you have noticed it...? I wouldn't even have tried if it weren't for people posting the lists here.

b) If you don't think a 50% cut on a title is a "big deal" you're being a little unrealistic, man. Consider that the game is still $20 most places and that there are people here who didn't get in on the buy because it sold out so fast at half price. That's a pretty big deal.
what he's trying to say is he could get good deals by himself, if not BETTER?? WHAT A JOKE!
Then let him.
Will, if you really arnt seeing any deals worth your time, dont use the site. Simple as that.

This site is great, and has been churning out great deals 24-7, so save up yer money for the next big deal that comes around. Money=Good, Unplayed Videogames=Bad.

I discovered this site at the beginning of the year, and because of it, have found some amazing deals. Here's what I've got so far (all were new and forPS2):

Beyond Good & Evil - $10
Castlevania: LOI - $24.95
Dark Cloud 2 - $9.98
Def Jam Vendetta - $24.95
Downhill Domination - $9.98
Eye Toy - $24.95
Freedom Fighters - $12.48
Jak II - $19.95
James Bond: Nightfire - $14.95
LOTR: Return of the King - $12.48
Mad Maestro - $10
Manhunt - $24.95
Midnight Club 2 - $9.98
Prince of Persia - $12.48
Rygar - $10
Silent Hill 3 - $9.98
Space Channel 5: Special Edition - $10

I've also bought several cheapass strategy guides with various coupon codes that have been posted. All this stuff came from Circuit City, Ultimate Electronics, and EB Games. Without cheapassgamer, the only one of these I would have found by myself is BG&E. I'm quite pleased with this site, and check it out everyday for new deals. :D

Dude I just started using this site in 2004 and I've already got like 4 great deals off of it.

Beyond Good and Evil - $10 (plus some haggling)
Castlevania WITH FRIGGING 3-GAME, 78-minute SOUNDTRACK CD - $30 (that price is standard but I would never have found out about the soundtrack deal if not for CAG)
FF:CC and Metroid Zero Mission - $54 grand total

Note that much of the great deals on this site aren't just flat-out price drops; many of them rely on technique and luck (the FF:CC/Metroid deal is the best recent example of that). Yet I would never have even thought about these deals if not for CAG. Then you have things like the GBA/E-reader bundle, which exploit a pricing mistake. This again relies heavily on luck, but it has worked for several people here and I plan on trying it myself today. There are plenty of great harmless ways of cheating the system presented here. To quote Los Guerros... if you're not cheating, you're not trying!
I was commenting on good games that are like $30 off etc., not 'fair' games like Bloodrayne that really aren't worth buying at any price.
Dude. Bloodrayne is a cool game, and easily worth $10 or $15 or whatever people paid for it. Sure the first level is crap, but once you get past it, it's all sweet Nazi-killing goodness.
Hurr Hurr!
Do you have stairs in your house?

Well, I got Tiger Woods 2004 free from that points website, I found out about the early Top Spin price drop at Target, and I got the goods on the EB after Xmas sale so I was in the store at 8 am Dec 26 to get the good stuff. I got Brute Force for $9 at the KB clearance sale (about the max it's worth). And I found an EB coupon on my own (B&M, but I only saw it at one store) for a $30 gift voucher. So between this website and my own shopping around, I've done pretty well.

yeah and its not like you contribute anything. you registered in nov and you have all of 11 posts!! all you do is whine then troll looking for cheap deals. We don't you or your whining so hit the bricks junior!
Whine, whine, bitch, moan. Anyways, when was I-Ninja only $10? I must've missed that one...
check the TRU/Amazon codes for it.

well i say lets just let him choke on his own words seeing SSX3 to be only $25 right now..

I knwo I don't think he is looking well. I could see if a couple of weeks wen't buy with no specials but hell. I just picked up TMNT and DOA:XBV for 40 bucks. Not to mention the 7 games I got at the CC sale for 42.50. Not all deals are gonna be for the best games, but some are. Plus the message boards have deals as well. Don't whine, I mean sheesh it takes a few minutes to glance at the site.

Good to know, I really was questioning this game but have yet to get past the first level. I really hate that water hurts you yet you basically have to go through it, not to mention the controls make it difficult not to.

Anyways I have already picked up many good games for cheap this year.

Beyond Good and Evil $15 - This is a GREAT game, I can't say enough good things about it
Pikmin $15 - only $5 off but hey, cheaper than I would have gotten.
Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance $10 - Really enjoying this game so far
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets $5 - Would have never purchased this had it not been so cheap but its pretty good actually.
Star Wars Rebel Strike $15 - On the way

And I didn't even get in on some of the great deals like the Target Raincheck (damn Target had Madden in stock the bastards), the Final Fantasy CC deal, or many other deals because I don't own a PS2 or XBOX.

I really wonder what you expected, we can't make the deals magically appear. Plus its still early and I really don't think this is the best time of year for deals. Also it seems that just when I think there hasn't been a great deal for a while a big one hits.

Yeah man, after the hour or so it takes to get through the first area, Bloodrayne gets MUCH better. It's unfortunate the first section had to be so weak, but stick with it and you'll most likely enjoy the results. You'll probably be in for a few shocking surprises along the way as well... :)

WoW. I missed out on some pretty good deals. But I got a better one. Mention where and when.

I did get in on the some of the CC stuff but after the prices hit about $7.
picked those up in January and The Amazon TRU stuff last week.

I'm impressed. Most games that deal with vampire lore completely forget that a vampire can be killed by placing it in running water. (In fact, I think most movies have forgotten that as well.)

I wouldn't have my XBox now if it wasn't for this site plus:

Kung Fu Chaos, NBA Street Vol.2, TimeSplitters 2 for $17, Onimusha for $7. not too mention the 6 or 7 games I got through TGN which also I found through this site. All in all I think I love this site like some kind of blood relative.

Oh yeah, the year's just beginning, calm down until 2005 starts to complain how this year sucks. Plus the site's free so its not like you're losing anything by coming here.

When was Dark Cloud 2 $10?!?

Or that $30 LOI + Soundtrack thing?

I was able to get a copy of Gitaroo Man for $5 from CC awhile back, due to CAG. Not too shabby. Though the game is impossibly hard the second time through...
