Ok yesterday I went to ebgames to look for rome total war for PC. well they had it but it was 40$ instead of the 29.99$ the guy told me on the phone 10 minmutes earlier. I was going to trade in golden Eye: ROgue agent for xbox, which was 30$ credit and King Arthur(on ps2) for store credit. I told him i was hesitant because i jsut bought rogue agent and beat it(game sucks). Then i ask when and how much will growlancer deluxe be, and he said 89.99 and comes out 11/30 but will recieve it 12/01. Im like dang i want that game but im kinda low on cash and thats a stiff price. he then went on about how its working designs product and the price is always worth it. he then said come here away from customer(by the pc games) it was pretty busy. and said I tell you what since u come in here alot I will refund them 2 games, as if you purchase them and give you credit towards any preorders. so I got 105.00$(instead of the normal 50$ credit i would of got for the games togther) in credit, used it on deluxe addition (90.00$ paid in full) and still have 15$ credit :), considering i only paid 40$ total togother for them 2 games :). so needless to say growlancer is mine :)

so not all ebgames employees are mean. and he even told me he is going to sell my 2 games as new(so the store made 0 profit off of my trade in) they are just breaking even.

I hear selling games as new is a common practice of Ebgames, but im pretty sure i bought games as new from them but were used but as long as its in perfect condition im alright with it

I hang out with StealthySeal all the time. The employees at the EB close to our town are awesome. They give us free stuff all the time, give us referrals, and tell us ways to cheat the system. They even let Stealthy in the backway on Black Friday.

The local EB people are nice here as well. They let me have their displays, know me outside of my gaming life, and help me get in on many good deals.

Same here my local EB rocks. I used to work in the mall and would always be there on my break got a few shirts and stuff and they hooked me up a few times as well.

I wish that was like the EB i go to in NYC. The place is a mess and the employees dont even smile. They just shove the game in the bag and "adios". Once i left there asking my friend for a reality check because i thought i did something wrong. Nah thats just how they act.

That backway isn't also called the hershey highway is it? Naw I just joke but them giving people extra rights privelieges makes them bad employees in my mind

Yes...but would you deny those rights if they were offered.

(P.S.Stealthy gets a hella lot more than I do. I can understand that whole idea)

I'm not hating on you guys if you can get something you would be a fool not to take it. I'm just hating on how unprofessional the employees are being.

Yea, i was at the mall yesterday n stopped by an ebga, mes to pick up C&C Generals for $4. The guy went through alot of effort to find the game, as in looking like everywhere, and not just sayign well i dont see it bye. Like he really went out of his way just to see if they had it in stock.

My local EB's cool. They gave me three standees, and they let me in on good deals. When the classic BOGO had ended in the stores, the clerk gave me a coupon out of one of the fliers that gave BOGO on classic games, even though I didn't know about it. He did me a favor yesterday too: I ordered Mega Man X from EBgames.com, but when it arrived, the label was torn, so I went to exchange it in-store. One clerk said they weren't allowed to take returns from the EBgames website, but the other said they did and said he would take the fault for it with the manager if they couldn't. To top it off, the clerk said they had just gotten a copy of Mega Man X in a trade-in and gave me that one, which appeared to be new. It still has the plastic seal on both sides of the box. That definitely worked out in my favor.

One of the employees is someone who who used to go to my high school, so I like going there to see him. He has never given me any deals though. :(
However, I did get a Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee cardboard standup from my local EB, so I like them.

I have 3 EB's, the one the farthest from me is managed by a prick, the other two have always taken care of me. I mentioned I was buying a few used games as gifts, they went in the back and shrinkwrapped them all in non-stickerfied cases.

People don't realize that people in retail are... People. Be nice to them, and they'll usually be nice to you. Some people are pricks, but thats life.

normally they're jerks around here, but i had a good black friday experience. I was taking advantage of the 'trade 5 games for 50 dollars of credit' deal, and after bring in 9 games, only 4 were eligible for the deal. I was about to leave, but the girl at the counter told me to wait a sec. After several minutes of her typing, she gave me my GTA:SA and 10 dollars in credit. Later i checked the receipt and turns out she added several games to my reciept so i could get the game and some credit. That certainly made my day.
...and he even told me he is going to sell my 2 games as new
If that isn't an example of a prick move, I don't know what is.

I miss the EB in Jacksonville. Back when it was trade in 3 games trade get a new one thing going on I was in heaven. Especially since CC had the whole $5 game thing going on.

I remember trading in a variety of POX games and they would just override the system and give it to me. I sure traded in a bunch of those...man I forgot what it was called but it had the guy on the cover looked like Justin Timberlake or something with cornrows.

I'd just give it to them with the old pricetag, and just asked why I was trading games marked at 49.99 and I told them and they said they would check it out too.

I miss those deals...darn Miami and their crappy stores. At least I found the Best Buy that actually has GGC available. Took me 3 different stores to find it.

If you guys want to help out, call the local office or better yet send a letter and say that so-and-so at this store were very helpful and you'll definitely shop there again. Management types get on these people enough to do shit like push preorders and service plans, they should get some positive feedback when it's well-deserved.

Important: be vague. Don't say "yeah, Joe the manager rang up these deals for me that I shouldn't have gotten, he rocks", just say the clerks were friendly and helpful and you were very satisfied.

Is that the EB on Southside Blvd perchance? If it was I was there a few weeks back for training and checked it out. The clerk there (Amanda) was very cool and we talked for about an hour. We talked RPG games, and she showed me some rarer trade ins, and I got some great games at awesome prices. Also the Guys from the EB in Homestead Fl(Gary,Blenn,Clay and Chris) are awesome. Promos,Standies, shirts, anything we need that is in their power we get. They renewed my faith in EB B&M (especially after dealing with the idiots from Dadeland and the Falls and South Miami. )If you're in the Homestead area check em out.

Both of my EB's suck. I tried the "trade in 3 get Madden 2005 for free." I tried to trade in Splinter Cell, UFC Tapout 2, Motor Trend Lutos or something...none of them were on the prohibited ebgames.com trade-in list. I even brought a print out of the list and the bastards still wouldn't honor it.

Local stores have their own exclusions when they're overstocked on a certain game... And two of those games are excluded and have been for some time. I know because I considered using them for the NFL 2k5 trade-in deal.

This actually helps in the long run if the person decides to stay with the company/store. They become the prime candidates for managerial positions.

Just make sure you go out and support the good game stores. Back in the Bay Area, the Gamestop in Westgate (San Jose) was like 10 minutes away, but I would drive out there just cause everybody was really cool there. Great place to buy games...
