The Spectral Souls was definitely an eye opener though.

its a good game. Load times are sort of bad. I got it for around 7 bucks out of pocket at a local trader few months back. havent had time to really play it yet but i like it.

Lasting Appeal
Multiple endings, customizable characters and other features are complicated by the slow pace of the game, thanks to the load times. You might not play this game more than once because of them

Gameplay
Some repetitive and generic features are dragged down by the ridiculous amount of load times. There's no excuse for this number of loads on a PSP.


i say its one of the better games out there for the psp.

Sounds like they gave it a low score because of the repetition and generic features as well.
 
I picked up Spectral Souls at Gamestop for the B2G1 sale at Gamestop...it was only $17.99 when I got it in store. Its an awesome game from what I've played...reminds me of FF tactics...and the load times aren't as bad if you use 333mhz or aren't even noticable if you dump it to and iso...but otherwise, they can be pretty annoying.
 
Spectral Souls got some horrific load times. It literally loads every time you do something (open a menu, have a dialogue, etc). Since this is a sRPG, this poses a serious detriment to enjoying this game. Pass.
 
I would say if Spectral Souls is anything like Generation of Chaos AVOID AT ALL COSTS. But from the video clips on Gametrailers.com it's more like Disgaea, prehaps not as well written but what is? The loading times on GoC werent the worst part of the game. the speed of the game was. Spectral Souls seems to move better, atleast it dosent seem like a horribly slow game atleast for a tactics type game.

Generation of Chaos is disgustingly slow, you'll feel ling your PSP is damaged. I give it high marks for graphical style and character concept but the implementation was pathetic. Aedis Eclipse seems to be a little faster but the gameplay aspects of both leave a lot to be desired as you're likely to spend most of your time waiting for NPCs to battle.

For 20 bucks Spectral Souls is a bit of a stretch maybe if you have a lame game you want to trade in at EB for 5 bucks you might find it worth your while but my only real fear is that all that loading might damage a PSP somehow over time. I dunno if it would, it just seems that way.

1gb would be enough to run the game. You also need custom firmware.


If you only feel like playing a UMD, avoid both GoC and SS and get Aedis Eclipse Generation of Chaos. That one doesnt have the bad loading time.

played it for a few hours the Eclipes game. didnt care for it at all and returned it to gamefly.

I liked souls a lot better and can deal with the load times
