[Now Online - Check 1st Post!] Big TRU Clearance w/ $5 PG Rebates and 12/29 update!

benboxer

CAGiversary!
I think these are those clearance games mentioned coming in the other TRU ad thread. These prices go into effect Thursday December 22.
EDIT:this is all I got. The new stuff is listed on the top. If anyone else at TRU has anything to add let me know.
EDIT 2:Thank you Shrike4242 for sorting the original messy list.
EDIT 3:These prices should be good to go Thursday. I checked the other stores markdown lists in my area Saturday and all of them had the 9.98 games. I got a friend's scanner and posted a page from the markdown list. I hope this works.
EDIT 4: Because no CAG wants to pay $5 more than he/she has to, shipwreck took the liberty of putting which games are eligible for $5 rebates on PriceGrabber. For complete info on the rebates check out this thread:
EDIT 5: Thanks Admiral Ackbar for pointing out many games priced at $10 not on the original list
EDIT 6:I found the master list which is essentially the green tag games merged with the 12/22 list. I did find some new games that will be part of the B&M sale on Monday but still no Psychonauts for Xbox.
EDIT 7:Here's the big list. You probably won't find the AO GTA San Andreas they list or most of the games with books
EDIT 8:Okay ignore my old post about Geist, Metroid Prime 2, Bomberman DS and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory not dropping to 9.98. ShinAkuma found out that they will drop to 9.98 on 12/29! Thank you ShinAkuma!!
EDIT 9:the 4.98 games are Trigger Man(XB), Pinball HoF(PS2), Intellivision Lives(PS2), Midway Arcade Treasures 1(PS2) and Tokyo Xtreme Racing 3(PS2)
Guess I'm going to have to make the 30 minute drive to TRU then. I'm going to Best Buy today, and it's on the way. I'll suppose I'll hide a copy of Resident Evil 4 and Dawn of Souls for tomorrow.
they had around 30 copies of dawn of souls here

btw, is that Super Monkey Ball combo one with SMB1 and SMB2 sealed together in shrinkwrap with a big yellow tag that says, "2 for $30 2 great games, 1 Great Price!!!"? I'm not too sure because I remember Fry's had a combo of it in a solid looking box. If it isn't :/ guess I'll return it.

ive only seen that combo pack in cool looking box.
i didnt really like RE 2 or 3 so i didnt know if 4 was the same
I heard 4 was the best one in the series... Gamerankings gives it a 96%!!!

i never understand why people say shipping kills these deals. sometimes it is outraqgeous, but amazon usually is pretty reasonable. if you figure that as costs about 3$ a gallon which it does in LA. you will probable expend at least 1 gallon each way to and from a store, depending on how far it is. shipping between 5-10$ isn't that bad as well as for the convenience of not having to deal with crowds and waiting in lines.

Rygar was my second deal I got from CAG. I got it for $4.99. That brings back memories... Scary thing is that it's still unopened on my bookshelf.

I've called a bunch of TRU's in my area to see if they have Darkstalkers for the PSP and none of them carry it anymore. In fact it might be possible that they never did or never ordered a restock for the title. Argh!

wow FF DOS again for 10.....well i think. is this list accurate?

firslty, the game i want, FF DOS, isnt even on the toys r us website.

secondly, i called to check on the markdown and although they had one copy of it in stock, it was still 30 bucks, and he had no idea of any type of markdown.

so, this list though is definite and it's definetly starting tommorow?

because i wasnt about to say "no toys r us man you're wrong, i read on CAG that the price is going down"..... i just told him i heard from somewhere about a markdown and he verbally shrugged.

even though it's only one copy left i guess i'll still try and call tommorow, unless people think not?

No point in calling, I'd just go and ring it up.

Not really sure if this is common knowledge, but customer service can look up inventory for other stores in the area. A guy was asking about non-video game merchandise and they were able to look up inventory in a couple other stores, to tell him they're all out of stock. And apparently the last truck before Christmas for all TRUs came in last night, so I wouldn't expect any stock to refill (but that doesn't mean they don't have things in the back that they haven't shelved yet).
I despised the previous resident evil's with a passion, but 4 was incredible.
agreed.. RE4's has a high level of replayablity

The Chicago stores don't have it, either. One had 2 empty display boxes with "Sorry, Sold Out" stickers on them on the shelf.

With the holiday rush, you'll be lucky to have a sales clerk run into the back to look for non-shelved games. Just be kind to them, and they can be incredibly helpful.

Just out of curiousity, how is everyone doing price adjustments going to handle them at the desk? I mean, odds are, the person doing it won't even notice or care, but I'm sure it'd be just my luck that I'll get some smart-alecky type saying something like, "oh wow, kind of funny how you bought ALL these games that happened to get marked down!" In that event, what's your plan? Will you play it cool and laugh it off, tell it like it is that you saw a list online, or will come up with a snappy answer, like "well, I've been honing my extra-sensory perception lately," or just be flat-out belligerent and tell he or she to mind their own business?
customer service can look up inventory for other stores in the area
I wouldn't drive to another store without calling to have the game held for you. TRU's store inventory levels are notoriously inaccurate.
Luckily I already had a half-day sceduled for tomorrow, so I can at least get to a TRU at around 1PM. This is gonna be MADNESS. I'll try and report on the condition of a couple of the Long Island TRU's when I get back, although it'll probably be moot by nightfall anyway.

BTW, I really tried searching through the thread but it was just too damn much-- what are the TRU coupons that are available right now? Is there anything besides that photoshopped $5 off $25 thing?
What 5 off 25 thing?

Ugh. Loving this question over and over and over again. Look, if it's company policy, you can tell them that your freaking goldfish reminded you to get price adjustments for games you bought and they'd still do it. What do you think they'll do, refuse because every game you bought had a price reduction? So what? It's capitalism, baby - enjoy it!
Can you guys...*sob sob* quit buying...*sob sob* games early to price adjust. My eyes are getting tired of crying and my vagina is getting very sore.
So I'm a little curious about your statement above, is this a reference to the very funny episode of "Arrested Development" from last week, where every drop of moisture was essential for PROPER lubrication ?
If I print out that markdown page, do you think Circuit City would acknowledge the price drop? The closest TRU near my town is a good 30 minutes away, but there's a Circuit City 5 minutes away.
This might work at sears !! What do you guys think ?

Most such policies contain a clause reserving the right of refusal for any reason or no reason at all at the company's discretion. If they refuse, then you could return everything. But in that case they could also refuse you the right to rebuy the games at the discounted price. I'm not saying they'll do any of this. I'm just saying they could if they wanted to, and there'd be nothing you could do about it.

Also, your statement about capitalism makes no sense in context.
Also, your statement about capitalism makes no sense in context.
Capitalism: an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market

We at CAG take advantage of our capitalist society to purchase video games on the cheep cheep. Viva la capitalism!

Enough asshattery on going OT for this thread.

Please keep things on topic? Call it my Xmas present, if you like, just please keep things on topic.

I'm browsing threads at fifty posts per page and this thread is already at 16 pages, so I can understand not wanting to browse through every post. Trust me, it has been asked a number of times. That said, no, I won't be belligerent. Working retail sucks (I know - I worked at an EB during the holidays) and I am certainly not going to make it worse for the folks at TRU just doing their job. I just know how to handle these things rationally. If I get grief, I ask for a manager. If the manager gives me grief, I'll ask them if they want me to return the games and rebuy them. Simple as that.

If a store employee or manager gets angry with you for being informed, ask them why it's such a big deal. The only real answer is that an informed customer saves money and thus cost companies profit. Again I say, viva la capitalism!
hey, what happened to fatal frame 2 on the list?
It's crunched together with Fable on the same line.

in other news, the post on FW is slowly slipping away, it hasnt had a post for 2.5 hrs so its well off the first page

this is the worst time of the deal.... less then a day to wait.. your like coming on Thursday hurry up and get here : )

hopefully this will be online as well.... many of the games are long gone in fort wayne...

so far going back tomorrow if the sale is real

Grabbing a few RE4 for people, few Mr driller and Golden suns

Just out of curiousity, how is everyone doing price adjustments going to handle them at the desk? up

Step 1:
Walk into the store with confidence, knowing that you have accomplished your mission before you even set foot in the store. Engage the Customer Service Rep. with a smile and a hop in your step. (You sexy devonaire you!!!) "Hey there sexy thing, how are you today? It's quite cold outside, glad you're working in here and not outside eh?"

Rep - "Tee hee"

You - "I'll bet you're comfortable in those TRU branded khaki black slacks?

Rep - Blushes "What can I do for you today"

You - Yes you can..err...Well...you see lass, all of these goodies were purchased mere moments ago for my eighteen starving grandchildren refugee infatile babies, and boy oh gee boy, what did I discover when I laid those sweet games on the table at home? That's right, although a fun romp in the forest shooting the crap out of zombie-like creatures may suffice for an interesting night, dare I say educationally stimulating as well?, it sadly does not provide the nurishment that the human body needs to live...

Rep - So what you're saying is---

You - That's right sweet thing, I need price reductions on all 27 of these fine items here you see before you.

Rep - ...

You - ...

Rep - How would th---

You - You're so smart reppie-poo, always thinking ahead. That's right, if you were to price adjust all 27 of these items, I wouldn't have to waste precious monies on soy milk for my lactose intolerant 12th born child and green peas for the youngest who can't eat meat (Goes against his digestive system and what not). Thus allowing me err....me children...yes did I tell you I'm irish? Me laddie and me lady and the wee lads beset could play those fine vi-de-uh games there now. *drinks*

Rep - I see, I guess. Ok let me get this straight, you have eighteen neglected children who need precious selective minerals in their diet due to malnutrition and lack of proper care, and instead of buying what they need, you get "Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing'?

You - *senses the immediate threat of the CS Rep not believing your story. begins to step back sensing a trap*

Rep - I can see maybe buying Resident Evil 4, but man, this game is so bad there is a falsetto religion dedicated to this game.

You - Well---

Rep - If anything this game deserves to be dedicated into the gaming Halls of Shame forever to be immortalized as the only media accepted by the Federal Government known to cause cancer and work as an interrigation tool.

You - *pulls out his glock*ALRIGHT EVERYONE DOWN!!! SOMEONE'S GONNA PAY THIS MORNING. *pulls hammer back* TIME TO DIEDIEDIEDIED----

*plucsk*

*gets shot by the manager, a mere 70 foot shot from the back office with his .50 calibur rifle*

Manager - *Blows smoke off gun* "All in a days work boys" *pulls out a cigar and a chianti*

j/k. or just walk up and ask.

I'm more anxious to find out of this deal is nationwide and if the 9.98 price drops are for all stores rather than just some stores. If it's not, then this will easily be the biggest dissappointment of the year!:whistle2:( Well, less then 13 hours until I get to find out (that is, if I wake up early... which I probably won't).

I'm sure it's probably been mentioned already but the one thing I am concerned about is that the prices end in an 8, which usually means YMMV. It would suck going in there and have a stack of 6+ games expecting them to ring up for $9.98 (since it's unlikely every game if any in some stores will have the correct price if the clearance does happen) and then every game you have rings up for full price. Then you look stupid saying, "Oh, I thought these were cheaper, I don't want them," since most cashiers probably wouldn't even understand why we thought they would be less. I might print out some UPC codes for games and scan them at a price check machine before I try to buy anything just to see if they really are $9.98 or not before I take them to a register.

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of... They'll probably think I'm suspicious when I see a game not ring up at 9.98 and then say I don't want it. Of course, the guys at my TRU are usually cool so I can ask them to check it out beforehand.

Another reason why I didn't jump on this one beforehand. I just have a bad feeling about this.

Plus, I'm going out of town this coming week, and need money for little things like hotel room, car, and food. Charge + credit is a little uglier than small charge, so I'm more than happy to wait until tomorrow morning.

Where amd how can we create the barcodes for the ones we want?

My local TRU said when I was purchasing Transformers to wait till Thur. for it to go onsale because he had a list of select games blah blah blah...so I guess that helps confirm that even if most stores don't have all the same items, that there exists a list at each store at least???

Yeah, and even though I don't know how TRU works, it would seem strange for all or even a lot of stores to clearance out different games at the same time. So I'm optimistic this will all go down smoothly.
