I think these are those clearance games mentioned coming in the other TRU ad thread. These prices go into effect Thursday December 22.
EDIT:this is all I got. The new stuff is listed on the top. If anyone else at TRU has anything to add let me know.

EDIT 3:These prices should be good to go Thursday. I checked the other stores markdown lists in my area Saturday and all of them had the 9.98 games. I got a friend's scanner and posted a page from the markdown list. I hope this works.

Yeah a lot of stores do that from the day after christmas until like new years day you also have a better chance if the store is busy and they are just trying to move people out as quickly as possible.

But if your doing it i wouldnt say anything about it to give it away cause if you do that then they could call security or get it on camera or something like that! Its not a good thing to do.

Also when you return something at any store, they take your drivers license or some type of ID or else you cant return it (unless best buy was being really lax about it and doesnt require these things after christmas). There was a story on the news about it, so if you have returned too many items or too many of the same item you can get busted for fraud. But if you only returned like one game for store credit then it would probably be ok and they wouldnt notice it, but if your a clearance buyer and a returner to a different store beware cause the stores are watching you. I didnt get all the details but its some system called returntracker or something and all retail stores use it so even if you go to different stores beware.

I have never returned a game dishonestly for money so i cannot say i have any experience with it, but if you have a receipt and you return a game they do not check your license.

Walmart will take returns of open gba/carteridge games if you tell them the game freezes up, they will hand you cash back as well if thats what you paid in, of course this is if you have the reciept. They wont take disc games because they said that its illegal for them to take back a disc game that is opened cause of piracy laws since you can make a copy of the game disc and return the real one. I would assume they would take a gamecube game back that is opened since gamecube games cannot be copied directly from disc to disc. I know this cause i had to return a gba game that actually did freeze to walmart and cause they didnt have another one of the same game they handed me cash back. If they have another copy in stock of the same game though they will give you a different copy of same game.

Has anyone leaving in Miami had any luck with the toys r us in the area? It looks as if there was a hurricane through the Toys R Us here -- mind you I went really early this morning. ALl the stores were closed yesterday.

wow, i guess it's a good thing i didn't check the thread this morning before going shopping. went into the toys r us to try and snag metroid prime 2 but they had nary a copy in site. turns out that wasn't so bad anyway, but they DID have one copy of pirates that must have been tucked away somewhere when i went last thursday. as a result, i was able to grab every game i wanted off the list except for tekken 5, which i'm not too broken up about anyway. a million thanks to the OP for the heads up on the sale and the original list.

It's the day after Thanksgiving, EVERY retail store looks Katrina-fied, ESPECIALLY Toys R Us.

Man, it's tough not checking CAG for two days. Anyway, I guess its good that Geist didn't drop, since I haven't had a chance to hit up a TRU since the weekend, though I did almost make a special trip since I hadn't heard the news yet. But regardless, a great sale, thanks Ben.
 
I had a defective Karoake machine to exchange for my daughter at Target, so I decide to check out the Pearland, TX TRU this morning.

Just happens that I showed up just as they were opening. There were a ton of parents quickly lined up in the video game department and already asking the sole guy there for the games in the $4.99 and up ad. To their disappointment, they were all ringing up to the regular price or little discount. I felt pretty bad for a few of the parents as I can tell they were counting on getting some good prices on the games in the ad. The guy behind the counter called his manager and said, "People are asking about these $4.99 and up games, but they aren't showing any discount. Is there anything I can do?" . I then hear him say, "No, there's nothing I can do...Ok, I'll tell them".

Anyway, seems a few parents left dissppointed. They were looking for some games that weren't on the $9.98 list, so I didn't intervene (stuff like that Dora game).

I did manage to grab a D2R: Reckoning (PSP) and Psychonauts (PS2) for $9.98 each, and that TRU still had a bunch of games from the $9.98 list, but most of the top titles were gone.

May be YMMV but I wanted to let everybody know about it. At that price no one should miss out on this game !! Happy hunting !

Unfortunately, neither game is $20. Methinks there is a CAG in my area (finally) as when I called to pricecheck Geist, someone had already been pricechecking it and MP2.

Meh. Could have been coincidence. On the plus side MP2 is ringing up $20 and Geist is $20 over at BestBuy. Not amazing prices in the wake of this monster sale, but 60% off is decent.
 
I did see online today that SSX 3 for Xbox was online for $9.98, but now it's sold out. Anyone find this in stores? It's not on the master list for Xbox.
 
Okay, I don't want to sound like an idiot, but I wasn't too clear on this "$4.99 and up" sale now. I've been reading posts that some games went back up to normal price and being discounted at a difference price now. Is that correct?

So it means anything that was $9.99 is now x% off from regular price?

Everything that was 9.98 before is still 9.98. Speculated titles like Geist don't seem to be cheaper as expected.

I saw a boatload of SSX 3 for Xbox tonight at a TRU in Mass. I mean there are over 30 copies. I didn't buy one because I bought too many games on this clearance already, so I picked up Fatal Frame 2 (xbox) only. I should have bought PoP:WW though. Doh!

I asked the cashier to price check MP: Echoes and it rang up 9.99. This was at the Orange Park, FL TRU on Blanding Blvd.

May be YMMV but I wanted to let everybody know about it. At that price no one should miss out on this game !! Happy hunting !

This must be super YMMV for Metroid Prime 2. All the TRUs I went to, they scanned in at $19.95. What a bummer, as I didn't have access to a computer today to get a heads up on the goof ups with the sale prices.

And I saw no "$4.99 games" anywhere like were advertised. Oh, and these were at few different TRUs in So Cal.
 
Just went to my local TRU yesterday, but some games weren't ringing up at the 9.98 price. But to my surprise, they had some 'popular' games still in stock.

Anyone still need Resident Evil 4? I can give a quick drop by and get a few copies for trade or anything.

Not to mention you could use the GGC on those best buy games and get an extra $5 off to make them $15 a piece. Still a very good price for those games.

I had been on vacation in Miami, and I didn't really get a chance to hit a lot of stores, but I still ended up with a few games that I wanted from the two stores (one Miami, one Ft. Lauderdale on the drive home to TN) at which I managed to stop. I ran into one person at the Ft. Lauderdale store who said he got about 25 games from a different store when the sale began (I believe he said it was the store on Broward). I didn't bother checking any TRUs when I got back to TN on Saturday, because I was exhausted, but I did try to get Geist yesterday. Geist rang up full price of course (no worries), but I managed to pick up D2R Reckoning and Darkstalkers for PSP (I hadn't found any of the PSP games at the other stores, and I never found any in the Target clearance either, so I was happy to get them. Too bad the free starter kit deal had ended).

My haul:

Area 51 (Xbox)
Haunting Ground (PS2)
Killer 7 (PS2)
Metal Slug 4&5 (PS2)
Psychonauts (PS2)
Samurai Western (PS2)
Darkstalkers (PSP)
D2R Reckoning (PSP)

There were additional copies of most of the games I got, with the exception of Darkstalkers, D2R (there may have been one more, I'm not certain), and Killer 7. Most of the games I didn't get, I didn't get because I either already had them, or didn't want them -- there were a lot of $10 games available, even several days after the sale started.
 
I went to TRU yesterday to pick up Geist and Baten, but they rang up at normal price even though the cashier had the list of the games on sale and Geist was among them. They told me to check back on Thursday because probably the prices would be reduced by then. (I doubt it)

Why didn't I find this site sooner? Could've saved myself a ton of misery.

Too bad about Geist. I was looking forward to getting that one. Guess I'll have to pay the $20 elsewhere. Sure, it's more than half off the regular price, but I'm a cheap ass gamer, and have been one since before I joined the site. It's just official now.

Anyone in NYC find Geist for $9.98? MP2 I already had bought for full price some time ago (which, looking back wasn't a good idea seeing as how I haven't really even started playing it yet), but Geist has interested me for a while.
 
I noticed something with Baten Kaitos. Theres an 'exclusive' version of it with a CD (probably soundtrack) and its considered a "bundle" and even has its own UPC label. I assume that because of that it's not on sale, but if someone were to ring up the 'real' upc thats on the original case, it might be the onsale one ;)

You read my mind. $30 for two games I've been aching for isn't bad at all, considering I shelled out $20 for Battalion Wars just two weeks ago.

I may be able to check the Cool Springs store this evening. I'll let you know. The TRU at which I found Area 51 was in Ft. Lauderdale, and I won't be back there any time soon.
 
Just got back from the TRU in Exton, PA (Rt. 100) the have a lot games on the shelves with no special pricing, including RE4 and DDS1. In fact, I think I took the cashier by surprise when he scanned them.

I was able to pick up:

Pikmin 2 (GC)
Romance of the Three Kingdoms IX (Ps2)
Final Fantasy: CC (GC)
