NOX Audio blowout at Big Lots

SpaceGhost2K

CAGiversary!
NOX Specialist collapsible headphones, reg. $79.99 on clearance for $25.00
NOX Scout earbuds with built-in mic, reg. $79.99 on clearance for $15.00
NOX Negotiator adapter for Xbox 360 and PS3, reg. $39.99 (I think) or $20 if you purchased them with a headset bundle - $15.00

I tried out a pair of the Specialists at E3 about two years ago, and my mind was blown. However, they only had the Scouts to show at that time, and there were none to try out. However, the super small button used for the mic and pause controls had me wanting this for a long time. just not to the tune of $80 bucks. $15 is nuts though, and they seemed to have plenty.

NOX Admiral and Admiral Touch headphones were also shown off, with no promise of a street date and they're still not out.

(Yes, I screwed up on the retail prices on my facebook post of the pic.)

Pretty sure "most" BL's get all this stuff... They probably either just store stuff in a case at the counter, behind the counter (though why they do that sometimes I don't understand, I've been at stores where there is no indication they have an item otherwise) or they just get them a long time after the first ones do. I remember at mine we once got the DJ Hero bundles a good 6 months after they were first reported on here.
Anyone in FL found any of these? Still no luck snagging a negotiator :(
I live in Ocala, but I was in Gainesville when this thread started. Called the Big Lots there and they found me a Scout and Negotiator. I got there and I looked around a bit and if they were on the floor I have no idea where. They had my set behind the counter, but no idea if they had any more.

I'll give my store another look today. Still looking for a Negotiator if anyone can help me out. Thanks for the info.

Aaaaaaand nothing still.

Alright, been using the Scouts with my iphone for the past week and I'd say they are best for "spoken word" (podcasts) duty and passable for music if you're able to tweak sound settings on your device.

Pretty good if using them with a smartphone because of the built-in mic and on/off button. Otherwise pass if you're only gonna use them for music

The buds are really comfortable and do a great job of blocking out noise

Overall happy with'em and would pick up another set if I find'em.
Thanks again OP cuz I woulda passed on them had you not provided the backstory. Packaging makes them look like no-name garbage

Maybe this is the case with my local Big Lots. Went to three and couldn't find any Nox stuff, only a copious amount of budget sound related accessories.

I'll try calling them tomorrow and see if they're keeping them locked up somewhere.

Found the NOX Negotiator adapter in Garner, NC store if anyone near there was looking. I didn't see the other accessories at first glance but I also didn't put much effort into looking.

My store had tons of all 3 of these models and I grabbed the specialists for PC gaming since I liked the idea of the retractable mic. Plugging it into my speaker hub thing produced good sound but not a ton of bass and the sound wasn't loud enough for me, even with everthing maxed out internally on the PC. Plugging them directly into my PC however, boosted the sound. Max is still not overpowering though, but everything is super clear, and no hiss at all when audio is not on. That surprised me.

I have read reviews where people say they are super loud, so I wonder if it's something with my PC settings. I don't think so though, as my Realtek audio settings are maxed out and I even tried boosting everything with settings like the equalizer. Still, they are loud enough at max but I am used to MAX meaning mind-numbing painful sound that sets you jolting if your kid messes with the settings while you're playing a game.

EDIT: Okay, so I was wrong. Plugged into the PC is pretty loud in-game. I had to turn them down a bit, but they aren't painful at max, just a bit too loud for me. For music I wouldn't mind a bit louder but I think these are great headphones. Works great with the voice-control in Windows 7. Mic also sounds great when putting your voice through the PC speakers. Build quality feels good and headphones have the nice memory foam cups but not as comfortable as over-the-ear headphones. On-the-ear ones like these wind up irritating me after a few hours, though the memory foam is comfy for a while. Played Fallout New Vegas with a ton of mods for a few hours tonight and it was a good sounding time.

Overall, I'm pretty happy for the price. My store only had the green ones, and I'd rather have any other color to be honest. Not a biggie though.

I've been looking for a set of mic'ed earbuds so I bought into the hype and picked up a pair of Scouts at the Big Lots in Muncy, PA.

I must say, I was underwhelmed by the audio quality. Response was skewed to the midrange at the expense of Bass response. The Sennheiser CX300's I got on clearance at Sears for $24 blew the Scouts out of the water, no contest. I even preferred a pair of JVC marshmallows over these.

The nail in the coffin for the Scouts is that they are not compatible with my Nokia C3-00, which is is Nokia's fault and not Nox's, but they are going to prove useless to me without an adapter cable.

Too bad, I really wanted to like them.

So far I am finding the Scouts well worth the $15 that I paid for them. I did not go in expecting them to produce the greatest sound for music but its enough to get me by just playing around on my phone.

However when talking to clients over the phone it has been perfect. Their voices come through loud and clear. I also am finding it easier for alot of my older clients to understand me when speaking using the mic on the Scouts versus the one on my Jawbone (which is one of the better BT headsets).

I agree that if you are getting them strictly to listen to music then they are definitely a little underwhelming. However if you are looking for a cheap combo headset with a mic I think they work out great.

Wife liked my Specialists so much, she took them for use with her Xoom tablet and as her xbox headset. So I had to go back and get another pair.
