Nutrisystem
its jenny craig with a different name, stop eating Macdonald's and hit the gym.
exactly. all you have to do is learn to limit your food intake and start doing some cardio and some other workout program.. hell if you want you can pay me half of what they charge and i can give you a killer work out plan!

It's the stuff that they eat on Celebrity Fit Club...or at least they used to.

Basically people think it's a miracle cure, because they start out correctly and only eat that food (proper portions, etc.). And then in the first couple weeks the lose like, 7-10lbs. Not because of the food necessarily, but because they are eating healthy, controlled portions instead of a whole bunch of shit. You can do that on your own.

The problems come in when you cheat on your diet, and when people get discouraged because that initial 10lbs. that was a breeze to lose because of water weight and general shitty diet, starts slowing down because they now need to exercise to lose the weight on top of the diet.

Whether a diet will be successful or not lies soley on how motivated the individual is to make it work.

The power is yours!

Alright, first step to losing weight is asking how much you want to lose. Determine if you want to look completely different, or stay around the same area, if you know what I mean. After you determine this, proceed to the fun stuff. Now, before you read this, you must realize that this is to be done after injecting a few horse tranquilizers.

If you are going for it all and want to lose a lot of weight, I would start by chainsawing off your left arm. Why your left arm, you say? More people are right handed, so you should save this arm. With the reduction of only one arm, that's a good 10 pounds. And you still can function the other! You can still fap, you can still shake hands.

If you want to go slowy, I suggest cutting off one finger a day from your left hand. After this, you may move to your toes on your left foot. This is for the turtle weight losers.

Now, what if THAT isn't enough? I suggest taking off your left leg. This will help drastically. Especially if your left arm is already gone.

Trust me, follow these steps and you will have a lot less body weight.

fuck that, if it's good enough for Dan Marino; it's good enough for me. I mean hell, he did win a super bowl, right?

The one good thing about any of those programs is you quickly get an idea of what correct portions truly are (it's shockingly small) and some good ideas for healthy foods. However, it's not really reality, because their pizza uses "cheese products" and if you go off and think you can have a small portion of regular pizza, that's not the same.

The other bad thing is, even if you just want to do it for a while for portion control and ideas for foods, those reps are worse than used car salesmen. They will hound you till you die!

My friend tried it, its bullshit.

They send you a box of food at triple the retail price, and you only use that as supplemental food.
Its not anything you wouldnt find at the grocery store either. Like there were basic canned soups in there

It's complete shit. My GF tried it a few months ago. Like someone else said, they send you this box of food. The "pizza" that comes with it is the size of an oversized ritz cracker. The same with most of the rest of the food. They also recommend you supplement this with fruits and veggies. Of course you're going to lose weight if you start eating fruits along with smaller portion sizes. Oh. The food tastes like shit too. The deserts are about the size of a piece of candy. Notice in the commercials how they don't show you any other food for a size comparision? That's because the portion sizes are incredibly small. I distinctly remember one day the "lunch" recommendation was a single turkey hot dog. fuck that.

Wombat went on Nutrisystem, IIRC.

He lost like 25 pounds, but honestly I think the stuff has a placebo effect moar than anything else.

I'll remind you that starving yourself doesnt work long term. There is a right amount to eat and if you go below that long enough, your body goes into famine survival mode and slows down your metabolism, and may go so far as to break down muscle tissue for energy.

If you exercise a lot, your appetite should be pretty hardy anyway. If you're hungry, you need to eat. Just dont eat shit.

I knew it was BS when I noticed that the ad said at the bottom of the screen that you have to buy your own "supplemental" fruits and veggies at the store.

You may want to read this book "You on a Diet". I saw it on 20/20 the other night. Two docs (I think one was associated with Oprah somehow, but I kept watching anyway) who teach about reading labels on foods, because so much is misleading, what can be eaten and what avoided. Only required 30 minutes walking a day and moderate strength training 3 times a week.

My wife did Nutrisystem for a few months last year. She doesn't anymore, but considers her experience a success. Thanks to Nutrisystem, she learned what proper portions are and got her body accustomed to feeling satisfied from that amount of food. She's lost about thirty pounds since she began dieting this summer.

Like many things in life, weight management is 90% mental. Nutrisystem is expensive, doesn't taste good, and isn't a way of eating for the rest of your life. Used as a tool, however, it can be helpful in your quest to lose weight.

FWIW, I used South Beach two years ago and lost about forty pounds. You'll spend a lot of time in the kitchen, so only use SB if you like to cook. I've kept the weight off since with a combination of activity and (reasonably) good eating habits. Diet and exercise works? You'd think doctors would get the word out!

Unfortunately people are too lazy for even that and want a miracle diet or diet pill of some sort that will take the weight off almost instantly. See the Coke that was introduced a few months back (don't know if it's out in stores now) that promised to burn about 60 calories if it were drunk multiple times a day. You can burn 60 calories by walking for 10-15 minutes. People are just that lazy.

I like how, in the commercials, all the "before" pictures are of people standing with their guts out, wearing super loose t-shirts. Anyone can look like they have a gut, just by the way they are standing. And it's a hell of a lot easier for former pro athletes to lose weight, than your average Joe Q Cheapass

I did n/s lost about 30 lbs, for the record the food is not good but it does work. The cost isnt terrible if you go monthly, about 250 for a month of food plus adding some fruits and veggies. I actually wound up saving alot of money, NYC grocery prices are pretty high.

Magically too they end up with a better haircut, better teeth, and overall look better.

They before pictures always have some shitty haircut, a messed up face, but in the after pictures, nice, they look like a model.

I never understood what the point of Nutrisystem and other similar products are when they are so expensive and the portions are small when you can get stuff like Healthy Choice, Lean Cuisene (probably spelled that wrong) which seems to work just as well and is a lot cheaper (this week for example, at my local market the Healthy Choice meals that are normally $4.39 are on sale for $2.00 so I plan to get a lot and stock up while they are cheap).

For me, I found that snacking less and eating those frozen meals more often is enough to lose weight (and being a little more active by playing DDR more than I used to). I have only lost about 12 pounds so far (since November), but I still have some junk food and still lose weight with these small changes.

My goal is to lose another 10 pounds by the end of March (beginning of the coaster season)

The two biggest reasons my wife wanted to give Nutrisystem a try were:

1. The food comes to your door. You don't have to go the the grocery store, make the purchases, and avoid all the other temptations along the way (the sweets in aisle six, the McDonald's you drive by to get there). Will power gets you so far, but in the end, the best way to avoid temptation is to avoid temptation.

2. Included in your purchase is access to a 24-hour counseling hotline. Anytime she had questions or just needed a confidence boost, she'd call up one of their support staff.
