Nyko Intercooler glitches?

At first, the Cooler was working fine, but now, two odd things happen.

1. The back of the system used to be somewhat cool or barely warm with the fans on, but instead of the 360 being hot, the fan area is burning hot, and no, nothing is blocking the air flow.

2. Sometimes, instead of making the usual fan noise, it begins to buzz horribly when I turn the cooler on. I turn it off and back on to get rid of it.

Is my cooler on the way out? Did anyone else experience this? thanks

just started having issues too.... 30 seconds before splash screen, game freezes, no boot. removed it and issues are gone.

edit: emailed nyko earlier and the are exchanging it for me...

Ended up tossing mine after it started causing problems , was causing either a red ring of death or the system would just restart, figured what was the point of getting another , having it work fine for a few months and then having everything repeat.

Mine just started making a terrible buzzing noise yesterday. I just took it off and pitched it. Doesn't seem to help cool the system much anyways. Waste of 20 bucks if you ask me. The lifespan on these things is ridiculous.

The problem is the intercooler takes away too much power from the system, thus becoming really hot and you may smell something "burning"... It's a POS

I've had no problem with mine. Except for that it started making noise. I turned mine off until I can get to the store and get some oil/lube. Ever since I turned my intercooler off my 360 has froze twice from over heating.

Btw the people that said they threw there's away you could simply add oil to kill the noise. Also call nyko they'll replace the unit.

Sounds like the ball bearings are worn out. Guess I'll have to order some replacement fans on newegg and switchem out when mine goes on the fritz :(

yea i thought about that as well, then i got lazy and cheap and didnt want to do it, and im too lazy to send it in to nyko

I'm glad I found this thread. I was actually considering buying an Intercooler next weekend, when I get my 360. Just wanted to hear some opinions before I plunk down $20 for a POS.

I believe the have fixed the issue with the new versions. They are slow in coming out but I've seen them in more locations now. The new ones come in a white box with an Intercooler label on them and they have no power button. The first place I saw them was at Circuit City and now I've seen them at Blockbuster/GameRush.

One of these screwed up info on my buddy's HD. He lost Hexic, 60 hours of Oblivion gameplay, Achievment points for every game he had played and some other stuff I can't remember:p

How does he know the intercooler caused it?

And since Achievement's are stored on live, you are claiming the intercooler somehow got into Live and destroyed his achievements?

I went through two of these already, and my new one is acting up as well. It's not as loud as the older version, but it still makes noise every now and then. If your intercooler is really bad just buy the new version and return the old version in the new version's box. They'll never suspect a thing.

Interesting...I was going to trash mine but maybe I'll contact Nyko instead and then sell the replacement on eBay.

Maybe I should contact Nyko as well. My intercooler makes noise and I've not noticed the system to be any cooler than before.

For all those that had their nykos break down, how long have you had it? I ended up buying one because my 360 started acting up (glitches on screen, crashing, etc.). I noticed the back area was extremely hot so I figured it must be overheating.

So now I haven't had any problems ever since I installed it. Only thing is that it is loud, but worth it.

here are a few pics of the box for the new Intercoolers. Sorry for the blurry image, I uploaded it before I realized it was blurry as hell.

I've had one for just over a week and so far I'm happy with it. It doesn't seem to drain too much power from the 360 and it is much quieter than my previous Intercooler. If you notice it doesn't have the power switch and I've started seeing them all over the place now- BestBuy, Blockbuster & Circuit City.

my stance on this issue is that I'm not sure if the intercooler broke my 360 or not. But in the end it did not PREVENT the 360 from breaking anyway so in the end.

intercooler is a waste of money.
